Thanks for this webinar. I've done paralegal work but not always completed legal secretary duties and the job I interviewed at today will require some legal secretarial duties. I appreciate how informative this video is!
I am currently applying for a Sr Associate Secretary position. I already have 20yrs of experience in Executive administration support in my background. But this was great as some additional prework to go into the interview process with some nuggets of information..
I was a legal secretary and I didn't have to got any classes. I learned on the job. Of course the lawyer paid me less than minimum wage because of it. I would stay late and read all the books. I also typed all the legal documents that we would have to present in court on the word processor so that I wouldn't have to constantly fill in the documents on a typewriter. This was in 1990 when they had word processors.. I appreciated the experience but he never would pay me a decent wage because I think my being hispanic he felt he could get over on me. I was intimidated by him.. I never felt comfortable around white people. He was a workers comp lawyer and some personal injury so the cases were all the same. Nothing interesting. He dictated what he wanted me to type and that was it. I wish I wasn't such a timid individual. It took all my nerves to ask him to give me a raise after a year. If I didn't ask him for a raise he probably would've still given me $6.00 hr. I had another job with Parks and Rec.so I wasn't hurting. I just wanted to know what it would be like. I have always worked with children. That's where my heart is.
You sound racist. If you dont like being around white people why would you apply for a job working for one? You sound riducaloudy ignorant to think someone wasn't paying your worth just because you are hispanic.
@@gotogd1233 No I am not a racist nor am I ridiculously ignorant. I was one of 2 Hispanics in the office. I understood that I was underpaid because I didn't have legal experience, so I waited until I gained it. Had I not asked for a raise he would have kept on paying me that lousy $6/hr. Today mostly everyone is underpaid the way the economy is going. Why do you think we have so many homeless people around the WORL? I must have pushed a button with you. You sounded angry. Hmm I wonder why? You are too blind to see.
I have an interview with a Trial Attorney. Hopefully all goes well. Thanks for providing this info, and discussing in depth your knowledge in this position. All the best.

Did you get the job?
Don’t know where this is but I make two and a half times that salary here in California!!!
I have an interview with a Trial Attorney. Hopefully all goes well. Thanks for providing this info, and discussing in depth your knowledge in this position. All the best.
How did it go?! 😅
Great 👍
Does this apply to U.S Law? I noticed this is UK based. Just curious. Thanks!
I wonder how quick turnover is in this position when working under great deal of pressure.
How can I get out of the NHS as a typist for 24 years into legal typing? Law firms don't want to know.
Can a man become a Legal secretary? Can it be possible after completion of grade 12, study this course and went straight to get its employment?
freedom kobese yes definitely
Yup, but ofc you have to apply for the job and work hard for the position it it won’t just come to you all of a sudden after college.
