not only is this a fantastic guide, your outro bit fills me with hope for the community. I've seen other shooters like this garner communities that are gatekeepy as hell, demanding only to play in a certain way or on a certain difficulty to be a True Alpha Gamer or whatever and its turned me off some games completely, but from what I've seen of the main players in the ULTRACOMMUNITY this isn't really the case and it's refreshing. Everybody agrees if you gatekeep or shame people for playing on lower difficulties or using assists to enjoy the game, you're cringe, which is a nice change of pace from the usual 'xd gaem journalist' pissing contest
its crazy to me how you are easily swayed and effected by other people’s opinions of you, do you seriously need a supporting community to feel comfortable with yourself? why do you care that those other games have these toxic players? you are not forced or needed to interact with them at all to enjoy the game
9:32 to 10:15 THANK YOU! I'm not a complete jackass at the game, but one thing I love about the complexity of the game is that it makes each player's unique form shine brightly. If you're a mechanical god that can do insane combinations with multiple weapons in the thick of the action, it shows through. If you like to style on the enemies, it also shows through. If you're one to stick to what you know best and be aggressive, albeit without flamboyant and constantly pulling flashy moves, it also shows through. Even if the game might not reward the Pragmatic Professional as much as it does to the Flashy Styler, the game still rewards good gameplay. Get Good, and your very own Form will push through [your hellish opposition].
I’m gonna keep this on hand. I’m realistically not going to put a lot of work into mastering the coin stuff, but this does reveal little things that I’d love to add to my arsenal of techniques and improve the game for myself. I gotta get way better at movement for example…
Honestly knowing the combos in your arsenal makes such a big difference. It took me 1h 15min to beat v2 for the first time, but the Gabriel fight only took me 8min. Railcoining really is something else.
I love the ending statement. The point of a game is to have fun. I think it’s really cool that the developer added assists. Anyone can have fun with this game. Anyone can feel like a badass no matter how they play it. I love your video guides because you always say that this game is pretty hard and you should be able to have fun anyway you play. A lot of other TH-camrs guides are just “get better at this” lmao
i can not see the appeal to this game if you are going to play it on the easy difficulty with assists, like the whole fun of the game is the deep mechanics and the difficulty. are people playing it for the lore? retro graphics?
@@meyr1992 The fun mechanics don't stop losing their meaning without the difficulty, and at any moment if someone decides to they can raise the difficulty again. Some person wanting to use the mechanics and try stuff they're not good at outside the sandbox but not wanting to die in the same place a bunch for the sake of seeing what's in the game at a desired pace should be pretty easy to understand.
@@meyr1992 Well, people play for different reason, if a game is too hard for them but they enjoy it, why not make it easy. You enjoy the game for the mechanics but some might like it because there's a lot of shit happening on the screen, so why not make the shit happen more easily if they like it ?

Just finished ultrakill and headed to the internet as ive heard of the cool mechanics (which is why i got the game in the first place) but wanted to play through the game first. Thank you for breaking down all of these mechanics to a new player. you earned a subscriber!
As someone who can't even afford ULTRAKILL and has only played its demo, I can say with 101% perfect confidence that once I got the basic hang of the mechanics and have managed to master proj boosting and a few coin mechanics, ULTRAKILL is genuinely the ULTRAFUCKING ULTRACOOLEST ULTRAGAME I have ever played.

Okay I was one of the players who just used the revolver piercer shot to kill everything (and railgun), then I watched this. I implemented most of the things shown in the video and oh my god this game is on a whole other level now.
The most fun way to play ultrakill is with nailguns. Sometimes i feel like im the only one using them. And they also have some neat combos with magnets and nail bombs
I've P-ranked everything in act 1 on Violent (except Minos Prime, just couldn't ever do it), but I hadn't played the game for a long time. amazing video man, super useful tips that ill def implement to my playstyle. also the last part was great to hear as a new ultrakill fan, since I've seen ALOT of gatekeep like people in the community so thank you dude. also first
This legitimately helped me a lot. I was getting torn up on voilent and even struggling on peaceful but i was able to p-rank first v2 encounter on my 2nd try
considering all the oddly specific tech things like knuckleblasting a coin into the sky, tossing another and shooting the second one with the malicious railcannon that's a concerningly good comparison
this was honestly a great video - started my playthough on violence difficulty, and it's the right level of challenge for me - did feel like i was missing a few things being a new player so im excited to try all these new tips out in game - thanks!!!
i was starting to feel a little disencouraged after watching the clips at the end. but the message after brought my mood back up, thank you for this guide! i will try my best to master some of the techniques mentioned. :)
Bro, this guide, this game, my mind is blown away harder than those demons. my jaw dropped at the fact you can parry your shotgun pellets. I would of never gusses in a million years that is something I could of done.
I just started playing Ultrakill, and I don't know almost anything, but I founf a little trick I use with revolver - after throwing a coin, flicking a bit up and shooting allows to hit a coin in most cases, kinda useful so far
ULTRAKILL is by far my favourite game, and watching this video makes me realise, I haven't even scratched the fucking surface of what's possible, just holy shit, what a masterpiece, this game gets more depth out of 2 weapons than most games do out of there entire game.
That was a lot to unpack, but I feel better off knowing how much deeper the combat mechanics really go. Just started playing a week ago after sleeping on it for years and it's fantastic.
Dude, your so fucking underrated your guides are clear and your editing is awesome! Hope this channel gets more subscriber someday ngl also, can you do a guide on parrying? I dont see people explain malicious face explosion parrying ngl it woulf be good!
Thank you! For the mal-face parry, they do a lil flash and a sound effect when their attack is charged. Its the same flash as the swordsmachine melee. Parrying when and after that flash appears blows the charge attack in their face
holy shit even after finishing this game, watching this is making me find out about more things that just goes to show that this game is batshit insane and i love it
As a huge DOOM player I find this game complicated, idk if I play it right but I don't use weapon combos I just play this game like a DOOM game, cycling the Weapons and dodging (idk if it's the right way)
Very beautifully said at the end there. I’ve gotten the game recently and have been playing on Standard difficulty. Never gotten any score over a B and it’s mostly been a lot of D’s in Levels/Acts 2 and 3, so I’ve been feeling kinda not up to snuff with this game XD Even though I managed to get into the flow of Doom Eternal on UV difficulty, I’m still just not very good at these twitch-type games. I’ll try and see if Lenient Difficulty is a better fit for me?
9:45 noooo, you should only play ultrakill on UMD+ difficulty with sanded enemies mod while blindfolded and with electrodes attached to your reproductive organs to punish you for whenever your score modifier drops below x3, and if you aren't getting a current world record time and score consistently, or, good heaven save your soul, you are failing to do it all while taking zero damage, you should uninstall all your games and only ever launch adult visual novels! /s Nice guide, totally will send this to my English-speaking acquaintances when they will pick up the game
Me with 100 hours of playtime: hmmmm yes interesting Great editing btw it says something when a player that know most of these stuff still watches video to the end
This whole time I was trying to fight gabriel and I kept meleeing and shotgunning at the same time and I kept getting parries but I didn't know why I was taking damage, thanks for helping me realize my mistake.
I got Ultrakill like 2 or 3 days ago and this is incredibly interesting to watch! I'll keep this shit in mind for when I try to get a decent rank on V2 lmao
That last bit is actually really nice to hear. I can't do kbm so I use a controller, and I kinda feel like I'm cheating with the aim-assist that it gives me automatically. But I'm playing for fun, like you said, and not to be some cracked god gamer. It's just nice to hear someone else say it's ok to play how I like, I guess
i started ultrakill with my classmate pressuring me to play it,he often sent me memes about it,he drew sketches of gabriel in classes basically almost meatriding the game, but as soon as he told me "btw YOU CAN PARRY YOUR SHOTGUN BLASTS" i downloaded it and DESTROYED swordsmachine, im glad he told me about this game and its mechanics, all i gotta do now is learn all of these "basics" and MAYBE i can stop being stuck on a bossfight
great and short video, i do say, I haven't seen your newer stuff, but i do wanna add, having some sfx for transitions and stuff could be an improvement other than that, the final clip is painfully true about the community of ultrakill thank you for that
This vid helped with alot. Mostly the slam storage, I went into a sandbox after and practised cuz i never knew how and ik its really useful, i have p rank of everything in prelude, act 1, and the first 6 levels in act 2 (excluding the p 1 and p 2) And it usually took a couple tries for each level because i play violent. Thankyou for da help.
I'll be honest, I find it fun finding combos and then building other combos AROUND those few specific combos, so essentially I'll have combos that lead into my favourite combos, and that's basically my playstyle. I find it really fun to master a few combos and then have some other ones to sometimes pull, instead of mastering EVERY combo, ya know? I dunno if that made sense lol.
i cant afford ultrakill so i use the demo and i only use the shotgun parries and that made me P rank every level in the demo but im still going to watch this

the instant i heard "the beggars bazooka of ultrakill." i immediately liked the vid, mans is cultured.
holy shit even after finishing this game, watching this is making me find out about more things
that just goes to show that this game is batshit insane and i love it
As a huge DOOM player I find this game complicated, idk if I play it right but I don't use weapon combos I just play this game like a DOOM game, cycling the Weapons and dodging (idk if it's the right way)
10:32 Vibe check. Great vid :)
Very beautifully said at the end there. I’ve gotten the game recently and have been playing on Standard difficulty. Never gotten any score over a B and it’s mostly been a lot of D’s in Levels/Acts 2 and 3, so I’ve been feeling kinda not up to snuff with this game XD
Even though I managed to get into the flow of Doom Eternal on UV difficulty, I’m still just not very good at these twitch-type games.
/s
Nice guide, totally will send this to my English-speaking acquaintances when they will pick up the game
wait how do you access ultrakill must die difficulty?
@@Dj-ms5ro not out yet
I personaly like doing two projectile boosts with the core and pump, and then i use the whiplash with jackhammer to finish off
Me with 100 hours of playtime: hmmmm yes interesting
Great editing btw it says something when a player that know most of these stuff still watches video to the end
This whole time I was trying to fight gabriel and I kept meleeing and shotgunning at the same time and I kept getting parries but I didn't know why I was taking damage, thanks for helping me realize my mistake.
I never comment on these kind of videos, but if I could rate this it would definitely be a perfect 10/10.
Thank you
That last bit I say amen to that
I got Ultrakill like 2 or 3 days ago and this is incredibly interesting to watch! I'll keep this shit in mind for when I try to get a decent rank on V2 lmao
Probably the first game where I felt like I was gonna break my keyboard, and not by smashing it against the table.
Thanks for teaching me about the coin! i was wondering what that did....
This dude has the best fact for video game, Respect+
6:50 I guess it is a beggers, never thought of it that way
great and short video, i do say, I haven't seen your newer stuff, but i do wanna add, having some sfx for transitions and stuff could be an improvement
other than that, the final clip is painfully true about the community of ultrakill thank you for that
Alright, a minute in and I'm learning for the first time that parries heal.
Sand is suddenly a lot less scary.
1:10 THE WAY HE RUNNED LOL
well i'd run the same way if i didn't have arms and there was food in front of me
*ran
"Beginner's guide" THEN WHATS THE ADVANCED GUIDE?!?!?
Great video
The disclaimer made me feel way better about not using coins my entire playthru lol
This vid helped with alot.
Mostly the slam storage, I went into a sandbox after and practised cuz i never knew how and ik its really useful, i have p rank of everything in prelude, act 1, and the first 6 levels in act 2 (excluding the p 1 and p 2)
And it usually took a couple tries for each level because i play violent.
Thankyou for da help.
With my hands I legitimately cannot do certain fast things so it’s nice that there’s still just easier options.
i ultralove this ultraguide
i have 150 hours, top 10 speedruns and yet had no idea about how to cause powerslams until this video finally no more confusion
Bonus tip, holding the slide key when you slam store turns it into a power slam. So you can send something way up, before jumping up there yourself
Awesome video, well done
I now understand why the game has several options to straight up slow down time during the entire gameplay
Ultrapumping is love.
Ultrapumping is life.
You won my respect by the message at the end :)
I find the most fun playing the game, by p ranking levels with the core eject only
Extremely based final take, liked and subscribed
I'll be honest, I find it fun finding combos and then building other combos AROUND those few specific combos, so essentially I'll have combos that lead into my favourite combos, and that's basically my playstyle. I find it really fun to master a few combos and then have some other ones to sometimes pull, instead of mastering EVERY combo, ya know? I dunno if that made sense lol.
i cant afford ultrakill so i use the demo and i only use the shotgun parries and that made me P rank every level in the demo but im still going to watch this
