Steve should never be heavy enough to live to those percents. Please nerf
The thing is, he's not even that heavy, he's barely above average weight. Being able to tech his own walls+ his scary to contest disadvantage state(for most characters) are why Steve players tend to survive very long. Misplacing a backair offstage means you might get hit by minecart, trying to juggle Steve means you might get hit by anvil, both of them might kill you at 90%.
For real tho I think if he was a light weight character it would be a lot more balanced

It really felt like Leo was playing against a heavy character. He played flawlessly for the most part and got hit a couple times and died yet steve wouldn’t die with back airs at 170%+. Kinda wild if you ask me

Steve is such a boring character. Only one who deals with it is another annoying character. With Steve you don't even see the players skill with the character. It's a character you can pick up and just run and spam nothing else. I do hate Steve as a character in Smash Bros. Too bad they stop updating the game. Steve should be a glass cannon character. Steve has no armor on but is pretty heavy for no reason.

Steve gets one good result in months and people treat it like the character is dominating the world. People will complain about the best character no matter what. For a character that apparently is "completely unbalanced and gamebreaking" they aren't really getting any truly gamebreaking results. This weekend had 3 majors, all won by different characaters, that haven't won a major in a while, so Smash ultimate is balanced. Yes, Steve's design is very stupid, and the confirms he can get are definitely overtuned, but to say that Steve is ruining the game by getting 5th at a major is just being mad for the sake of being mad.
@@toonishigh online experience is a thing, plus you can't even justify the amount of steve mains during kagaribi 12 and delta 8, almost 1/3 of the players there was either a steve main or has steve as a secondary, it's annoying to go against and sakurai won't do shit about it until the next game comes, the only way people are gonna be able to counter steve is either if smash meter is allowed (idc about your opinion about peach, it's not like samsora will come back or if muteace will win every single tournament) or if squad strike is the norm going forward which I don't mind if that's the case.
@@isuck6049 the amount of steves was large yes. But how many steves are able to make top 8, or even top 16? Very few. Just because a character is common doenst mean they are necessarily broken. And since that tournament we haven't really seen that level of Steve representation. Also Steve's final smash is actually quite strong, so idk how full proof that that strategy is. And squad strike will never be the norm. Imagine actually forcing players like Sonix, Gluto, Light etc. to pick up secondarys, just to please some angry spectators when Steve makes a single top 8 placement in months

The problem isn't "Steven won", it's "Steven by spamming the same safe three moves until one hits for 40% and camping the corner behind a wall". No interesting combos, no unique counterplay. Just camping and spamming. Congrats, you win, but at the cost of the entire game being fun to play or watch. Have fun sitting on your throne in your empty hall.

Mkleo doesn't know the Matchup and obviously is uncomfortable. Compare this set with many vs shinymark and sonix, the wifi warriors who aren't stubborn about learning the matchup. It's a night and day difference.
People can complain about Steve all they want but there are multiple top players that prove that you can learn how to beat him.
I'm sorry i know leo is the goat but watching him play the ENTIRE SET on PS2 is just so indicative of that stubborn mindset. There's no reason he should keep taking Steve there when it's his best stage and gives him his best materials

Yeah I wish he went byleth bc this matchup seems awful for joker. It took like 3 bairs to break blocks and he kept getting hit by f smash since he was so close to the blocks but with byleth all it takes is 2 fairs that can be spaced safely away from getting hit by f smash. The way he played against Acola at LSI was how the matchup should be played, I'm so disappointed we saw him dismantle zomba so handily the set prior only to lose to this guy for trying to please the crowd with joker

This is the first time me I’ve actually resonated with the whole ban Steve thing. I don’t know why I didn’t notice it but when joker, a character with absolutely ridiculous kill power struggles to kill Steve, it feels really over-tuned. Mk leo used tons of smart movement tech, and the steve kinda just played like a turtle, waiting to punish leos interaction. But also, i kind of get the perspective of grind and learning the matchup. I just don’t know where the ceiling is on that mentality when mk leo folds to Steve.

I think Leo is still as good as before but he just can't keep it for the whole set, he was definitely winning at 12:43 but just can't stay focused and carry it till the finish line. He switched back last stock but was too late. Steve is also a lot of BS, requiring you to stay focused the whole way without making any mistake, Leo is definitely a better player here.

Yeah no, Leo was playing 10x better than many, he got absolutely carried by steve, Leo won 90% of interations the whole set, but it didnt even matter if he was the better player, 2 neutral interations wins and steve either wills you or leaves you in range to die to a fking frame 4 option that can be done after almost any areal, Not the slaightliest of a fair set.
