As a former Jehovah Witness, I feel that story. My brother is shunned because he got baptized and went against their teachings.
What Doesn't make sense is that I am open about how much I hate the religion, I refuse to get baptized, but my parents will talk to me and not my brother. The religion is absolutely terrible.

@@shatteredsoldier81 I'm an Orthodox Christian, well aware of the weird social ostracisation that goes on in JW. I've met many who are good, decent people, but they're all so terrified of being ostracised. We don't really have that as Orthodox.

I was raised Christian. Not sure which branch if there was one, all the churches kind of blur together for me. I've met nice ones, crazy ones, and everything in between. Makes me question if religion is a cult at times. People gathering in one place to praise a deity and do some rituals. I think I've given up on trying to understand years ago. Especially as I've been called a demon on several occasions, though I haven't done anything considered demonic far as I know of. Could've been the time I told her I simply wasn't interested in reading the bible over and over again, so she took it as a sign I was a demon because demons couldn't read the bible. Or maybe it was the time I snapped at her by throwing bible quotes back at her, about her judging me because it was not her job to do so. 😮‍💨

I've never lied to my parents as an adult. Omit info? Absolutely!

I omit anything that isn't relevant. I do it at work, home, in my head.

Definitely omit shit. The shit I see and had experienced is hard enough to believe as it is. A whole truth is stranger than fiction situation.

I don't lie per say, more like tell only parts of the goings on of my life. They wouldn't be able to handle the entire horrible truth without major lashing back, and I've been convinced that lies were beaten out of me as a child. Either that or it's the Autism making me brutally honest and blunt. I've had to train myself to play the mental game. To pretend everything is awesome, nothing is wrong, and never mention how much of a grudge I still hold against the things they've done. Slowly, I am learning to heal and cope on my own without them, and they've always made things worse when I would try to talk about it for some closure... So why bother bringing it up? Only tell them what they want to hear. Let them regret everything once they are close to their deathbeds as most humans do. While I am waiting for a legit apology, I will work on forgiving them on my own terms. Favorite saying: "Holding a grudge is like someone living in your head and they're not paying rent."
