Today I will be swatching my entire vintage lipstick collection. I have always wanted to create an archive of all of my vintage lipsticks with names and colours. I have a large lipstick collection dating back to the 1920s. Let me know which one you like the best.

I love the vintage tubes. The gold tubes were always my favorite 💛 😍 my grandmother Betty always let me play with her makeup when I was a kid. She had a great collection of lipsticks in those classy gold tubes. She was so elegant and she taught me so much about life and womanhood. I have so much respect for her and I miss her every day ❤

I wish modern lipsticks were this pretty to look at!
Some of the expensive ones are but seeing the fancy revlon tubes of the past was surprising.

I held my breath while you went through the Avon lipsticks hoping you had my teenage favorite "Pink-A-Ling" Or maybe "Pink Fizz" from 1974. I enjoyed this colorful trip down Memory Lane.
I wore Sugar Pink by Avon when I was 15 circa 1969. It was so light it made my best friend and my teeth look so yellow but we thought we were so hip!🤩🤩🥰
From my artist days I remember sketch books with a sheet of tissue paper between the pages. Art stores would have them. 😃💕

This was so fun to watch. I remember when I was a little girl in 1983 . . . my Grandma had a teal plastic box filled with about 40 tiny vintage Avon test lipsticks (she must have sold Avon at one point, I guess?), and nine-year-old me found it one day and went through and secretly "tested" every single one. I can still remember the smell of those lipsticks as I methodically smeared each one on, admired myself in the bathroom mirror, then wiped it off with toilet paper and moved on to the next one.

I love how beautiful and feminine the lipstick tubes used to be. My mom’s favorite was Max factor. They also had a perfume sent. I used to love that. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Thank you for posting this. It’s a lovely relaxing video, love the music, and you have a great collection. The muted almost nude pinky or orangey shades would have been late 1960s/ 70s when the fashion was to almost blot out colour on the lips, but to have tons of black eyeliner etc on the eyes instead. (Look at a few colour photos of Dusty Springfield in the 1960s to get the idea.) I can remember my mother - who had served in the army in WW2 and loved bright red lipsticks - being absolutely disgusted with the muted lipstick look, though fortunately her favourite shades were still available. (Even though she didn’t like the new shades, she was still open enough to buy me the ones I wanted!) .
I still love ❤ Revlon lipsticks.

Loved this video and your collection. I watched it while working so I am definitely going back and watching again. Now you have me wanting to collect vintage lipstick. I only have one tube that belonged to my grandmother. It's from Holiday Magic - Frost Pomegranate. Very orange from the 60s.
It would be interesting to see if there are modern dupes for these shades 🥰
I second that! I've really enjoyed the other vintage lipstick videos on this channel about this, but we can always use more. Especially since some of the colors called by the same names today (like Revlon's Fire and Ice) clearly aren't the same as they used to be, so it would be great to have suggestions for something similar to the vintage ones.

The Avon Pinky Dink Pink packaging and lipstick colour is so pretty 😍
Just cover the swatches with clear tape to preserve them. My stepmom was an Aloette sales woman and she used to make cards with the lipstick swatches so customers could see them and it was easy for her to carry them around. She would make a small circles with the lipstick and then cover the card in large clear tape (like the kind you put boxes together with)

Lipstick is my favorite make up so I am really enjoying this. I’ve missed being able to wear it since the pandemic because I work in a school so I have to wear a mask. Can’t wait till it’s all over & I can wear lipstick again!💄

Yardley makeup in the sixties was phenomenal. They made a paint box LIPSTICK. Had such beautiful colors. Makeup today is overrated. There was a sensual feeling when wearing it.
I love all of your videos you have truly inspired me, I have bought a few of the Revlon Lipsticks that were used in the 1940s, Love That Red, Love That Pink, and Cherries In The Snow. Since I have let my hair grow out natural those colors really bring out my silver-gray hair very well. I am wondering though about your makeup line do you have any makeup looks with vintage doll cosmetics? I have thought about buying a few of the cosmetics from vintage doll cosmetics.

Some of those lipstick cases look familiar. My mom and older sister's wore some of those brands and I had a few of the Cutex and Revlon lipsticks in my teen years.

Loved this video❤️❤️ Suggestion…put some wax paper over each page to cover the lipsticks to prevent them from smearing.
What you could do is glue a sheet of wax paper to the back of the first sample sheet (and the inside of the cover) so the sheets won't stick to each other. Or even spray a fixative over the sheet so it "seals" it on the paper. They sell a spray fixative in art and paint stores for this for people who do pencil/carbon portraits to prevent smudging. Otherwise, a great idea for a swatch book!

I love that shade of nail polish. Also, could u use some clear packing tape (it is more clear and heavy duty) to put over the swatches? Just an idea.
You could always swatch on individual pieces of printer paper or card stock and slide them into a clear page protector and than keep them in a binder. They wouldn't transfer onto anything else that way! 😊

I don't recognize your tube, but I used Avon's Instant Mocha maybe up into the early 2000's. It was a nice summer tone when tanning was still a thing LOL

See now, I loved so many, but do to being a child in the 60s, I still like my frosts the best. I like them on ME. Could you lay a piece of foil over first page?
If u notice most of the colors stay in the same color scheme, back then they seemed like they didn't venture far from those colors, very pretty colors, very simple too.

Can you collect empty ones and hot glue them to a cheap lampshade? Make a cool lampshade or something.
I think the Estee Lauder coral peach is the real Audrey lipstick, the one Lisa Eldrige bought it. Look at how the packaging is similar to the one she uses in the film. I would love to see a swatch of this lipstick compared to the others we suspect is Audrey's ✨💛

I wouldn’t swatch any of them. I’d take care of them as is. That’s the point of vintage and antique to take care of it for posterity. But to each their own.
Take clear fingernail polish and put it over the LIPSTICK after the LIPSTICK has sat for several hours
drug store lipstick containers used to be SO cute and beautiful and interesting and now they are ugly, boring, cheap af even as drug store prices keep getting more and more pricey
Avon packaging is so boring these days.
In general lipstick packaging is so boring compared to vintage packaging. I think only high-end lipsticks sometimes have special packaging nowadays.
@@Xiaotian88 you are correct there, most cosmetics come in boring black packages, the Revolution line is pretty, as is Charlotte Tilbury.
Oriflame giordani gold has some fancy gold packaging without the exorbitant prices.
