I'm a British armed forces veteran and this song helps many civilians understand what it is like to suffer with extreme PTSD from fighting in many war zones. It describes my war based PTSD to a T !!
My PTSD effects me so badly that I have tried to take my life on many occasions but this song helps me in so many ways.

Moment I found out I drove 10 hours straight to be with his family. Even though we both were out of the military we still had that brotherhood. I miss you everyday Patrick Merica. Semper FI

We try ... and try... but we can only do so much. It's so hard to ask for help. We just fight our battle alone and in silence because we don't know it another way no matter how hard our loved ones try to help us we just fake it till we make it . Praying for someone to see the hurt in our eyes..

It's been 16 years since I left the war,the scenes/flashbacks/nightmares/memories/smells,and the war has never left my mind regardless of how many counsel sessions or beers I drink, from time to time these memories pop out of my eyes and roll down my cheek, often certain sounds cause embarrassing actions that is humiliating, I have faired better then many others because of strong family support. I am proud of my service to this country and would serve again if called to do so because my country and the freedoms we have are that important to me,may God be with you my fellow veterans and may God help you as God has helped me! When asked when I was in the war I reply every day because your body leaves the physical place, but your mind never does and thus the war is always in you no matter where you go or how far the years have stretched out.

Great song. If you suffering from PTSD there is hope and a light to end this silence and darkness. Don't worry I do not recommend AA for alcoholics. I strongly encourage you to find a friend that knows your pain and suffered as much as you do and even more. You need someone who faced death and destruction just like you. One who bear your scars. But one who overcame. No more suffering in silence. No more hiding in darkness. For he was wounded for your transgressions, bruised for your iniquities. The punishment for your peace was on him and by his stripes you are healed. A man acquainted with grieve and sorrow. He did it for me. He will do it for you for free. Confidentiality guaranteed. Mercy you get and forgiveness will set you free. To wipe away your guilt and shame and even your tears. Not to numb but to heal your pain. No longer alone. No need for sex, cocaine or empty bottles of beer. A friend that sticks closer than a brother and a buddy now dead or gone. He fought his own wars, he faced his fears in the valley of the shadow of death he took courage just like you. And when hell and death surrounded his camp, he was captured, tortured and hung on a cross for the sake of everyone else. Did he do for the joy that he knew that others will live because of him. No greater love has anyone than to lay down his life for a friend. He called you friend though in your heart and mind you were an enemy. He did it for you and I. But God raised him from the dead and gave him more than a crown on his head. He has the power to give life to the dead. Whoever believes in him and are baptized will be saved. Whoever fails this mission will pay in hell. How deep, how dark he saw it all just like you. A soldier and a buddy to the end. Yes God's own warrior for mankind laid down his life for love sake. Jesus Christ son of God, the son of man, promised this same life and love to you and I to die and to live again forever in paradise. No more war, no more memory, fear, or depression. The enemy of your soul have been defeated. Come to Christ and he will give you peace and rest. And you know God who is love cannot lie. He is the way, the truth and the life. Whoever has this truth have eternal life living inside them. Amen.

Understand that I have flashbacks that I have seen human beings do things to others that no one should ever do understand I have instincts that take over when something startles me. Understand that I can't see fireworks without having a flashback. Just understand that I'm not the same person that left but now came back.

The Pain of Loss will ALWAYS burn in our hearts..... it was described to me in a sailing metaphor......somedays sailing will be smooth...But the water will always be there.....somedays we battle a storm......grief , will come and it will back off....use you life to be a testament for your brothers , tell how great they Are !!! Tell of the "good times" , tell of the "hard times" Tell of there love for their country for their brothers, tell of their courage , BUT most of all tell of the brotherly love , whether we like it or not the Bible is filled with truth ......“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
    - John 15:13 (KJV)
DO NOT GIVE UP or what did they die for....for you and your brothers
    If YOU ARE NOT HERE........
WHO WILL tell of their Bravery .?.?.?
it took me nearly 40 years to understand that they made a choice as did I..... nothing I could've done would've changed the outcome....but it still hurts , not as bad & somedays it's a storm but Testify of your brothers.....

I'm not a soldier, I don't know what its like to be in combat but I have PTSD as well. I've had it for a year now, its absolute hell, but don't give up. I know that, that's easier said then done. Trust me, there's been days where I've wanted to check out, I wanted to put my hands up and say I'm done, I feel like like I'm already halfway buried in the ground, and there are some days I still feel that way. I've felt that just the other day. But I know I can't do it, I live in my first due area, and I see the guys I served with in the fire department almost every day, they drive past me and when I see the faces of my brothers and sisters, I know everyone of them, I already know who's responding to that call and I can't do it to them. I'm still trying to return to duty, I can't serve the community if I pulled that trigger. We loose too many people that way. I believe for military, its 22 or 24 a day. For fire department, we loose more firefighters, from checking out then we do in the line of duty.

My wife passed away three years ago from medical complications from childhood trauma from her family. We were married 43 years.
May Christ comfort you in these days. Psalm 139.

It's so hard to mourn a loved one . Especially the one that was your tower of strength. I am not going to give you easy answers . That's not me and you would not accept it . But , remember the good days with her . And if you are religious . She left your arms for the arms of Jesus . You will always love her . They never go away really . Live for her. She would love to see you smile and be happy.

Does anybody know how to get rid of all the images in my head? the ones that wake me up at night. My shrink doesn't seems to know. He just tosses meds at me. Good ol' V.A. God forgive me for what I about to do but I just can't take it anymore. A child died in my arms just minutes after his moma died in my best buds arms. A week later Jeff died in my arms! How do you get over that?!?! I guess I'm just way to f'd up for people to be around. Everybody stays away from me. It's been that way for 3 decades. Jeff was the only person that stayed around. I'm done. Later on y'all.

You're not alone. Today is March 7, 2022. 14 years ago, CPL. Jose Paniagua-Morales was hit by a pressure plate IED in Iraq. I can't get it out of my head. But today, I got up and I went to work. That is my tribute to him. And I talked to my wife about it. I just reached out to a friend of mine who isn't a veteran. But he's my friend and he's here for me. Like you have, brother. You have someone. Just reach out and show them you're not okay. They will help us. Just don't give in. Never give in. We love you.
