My dad served proudly and with honor for 25 years and 3 wars. He came home to this I was shocked by it as a 12 yr old. My husband served 20 yrs & 2 wars also DMZ.
First time hearing this song and it made me cry. All of our soldiers should have been welcomed home way back when and always should be welcomed home. God Bless all of our Military Heroes .🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It's about time America started welcoming her heroes home. On January 5th, 1969 I was welcomed home from Vietnam when we landed in California---welcomed home by being SPIT ON! Thank God our young men and women will never ever have to say that the worst day of their tour was the day they put their feet back on American soil! This country should still be ashamed of those days. Karl, thank you for a splendid job with that song. You and people like you almost make up for what us Vietnam vets went through.
Both my grandfather's, my great uncle john, my uncle Tim, my uncle Jack, my cousin Josh and my other cousin Richard were all in Vietnam and they told of the disrespect they got when they returned. I want to say thank you to all the vet's in Vietnam. this is my 20th year in the USA army I will be retiring 6/30/16. I want to say good luck to all the future soliders and those who are still serving.
Thank you for your service and God bless you. You should have never been treated so poorly. The ones that spit on you n called you names should have gone over and seen what y’all did to protect them. I pray that they all are ashamed of themselves for how cruel they were to you. Again THANK YOU ❤ you are forever blessed
I was just a kid of 8-9 years old when the war in Vietnam was winding down and I remember hearing about this happening to people who stood up to serve this great nation and when they were finally home they were treated like that. I remember asking my Father ( a WW2 Marine ) why. I remember seeing the hurt in his eyes when he said I don’t know, but it didn’t happen in my day. I was raised to respect the flag and to honor our veterans.
Vietnam Vet 66, 67, 68. Three long tours behind me …….I walked out the gate. There was no one there to meet me when we got back, no one at the gate when I walked out it either. I’ve spent my life looking for me. The boy that somewhere disappeared between the missions and the strikes. One day I looked up and he was gone. I’m 76 now. I left Vietnam but Vietnam hasn’t left me.
A service wife needs to be a special kind of person - they need to be as strong as their serviceman relative who is deployed. Great record and says all it needs to do to make that homecoming more special.
My grandpa was in Vietnam war when he landed lot of people spit in his face and had protest signs he died in 2016 but after he got home he never spoke of what happened when he got off the plane
Appreciated my great uncles died and. My great grandfather one of the uncles died by getting killed by teammate by accident and the other shot by action on horse
I came back from Vietnam on January 16, 1972 (52 years ago). And as other Vietnam Veterans have said and written, I never really came back at all, and I will carry that war within me until I leave this world (the unwanted prize of that tour). The fact that, prior to that tour I had become a professional soldier, and afterward, had continued being a soldier until 1995, when I retired, did not really help me come back from Vietnam all together, as if my military experience for total time served, should have helped me do it. And this is a dilemma shared by many Veterans, I'm afraid. Lucky, we have finally been, that in the last twenty-five years, or more, some of the stress (or pain) has been mitigated or reduced thanks to a great number of Americans and organizations that have taken to conscience to personally welcome us back into our nation. And by God, that helps! And especially in helping us feel more normal, like we are really back "to the world", finally, in spite of the abnormalities and wounds that some of us still show or suffer. Thank you, America!
I spent 2 yrs in Kuwait, 4 yrs in Iraq and 10 months in Afghanistan! Memorial day will always be a sad day for me! My building in Iraq Camp Ramadi was used for memorial services! At least once a week! Never forget!!!!! ❤❤❤
I want to thank everyone in the armed forces, even if they are fighting an unpopular war. That doesn’t matter non. They risked their lives to protect us and this country. Also let’s give a big shoutout to all first responders who put their lives at risk every day.
I've just heard this song for the first time, as a British Army veteran who served 16 years in some of the hottest spots in the world I just cried my eyes out, not something i would normally admit to, but with a song as powerful as this i would just like to welcome all solders Home, no matter what nation or flag you fly you have my respect and i Salute all who stand in the name of the free world, God bless

Yes, Sir. You are right. Everybody wants to live in the USA but they don't realize that all that we admire in the US has a price. You are the ones risking your lives to defend the American values. Low bow to you all and my love from Argentina.

What a great craft, Rory has! He hit that whole era so right. And boy what expression he puts into singing a song! I was in the usmc in 70's at the tail end and my heart still ache's for the "welcome" home(s) that I never received. Welcome home everyone that spanned that rotten war! This song is great! and thank you Rory, for once again hitting it right on the head!
I did 3 deployments between the years 1999-2011. I'm a dual citizen, but I'm a Canadian Military Veteran. If they asked for my help. I would go back in a heartbeat. Just because I served under a flag that is red, and white doesn't mean that if the United States Military needed my expertise that I wouldn't give them the help that they asked for. My mom is a USA citizen, and my dad is Canadian. If you are connected to the North American Continent. I would be more than happy to defend your homeland because it is connected to mine. God BLESS our soldiers' no matter what flag you serve under. Stay safe, stay strong, and go home safe. Semper Fi!!!!! From a medically retired Canadian Colonol from the G.E.E.S.E (Geographical Elevation Estimation Specialist Experts) Veteran. Come home SAFE, and I agree that people should WELCOME you HOME with open arms after your deployment(s).
No matter how much time passes, the feelings and memories of old friends and moments brought by these songs never goes away. music is truly a gift that keeps on giving
Great song means a lot I am a veteran from the Bosnia Herzegovina Croatia I return to Canada There was not much of a home coming. There is not even a memorial for us and that conflict
I was going below the comments of vets and thanking them. But then I realized there's a lot, so I'm thanking you here. Thank you all for your service, to me you are all heroes. Thank you for those who served in the past, present, and those who will serve. God bless you and your families. And a moment of silence for our fallen.
My oldest brother was drafted to go to the Vietnam War. He didn't go but a friend of his did. He was a helicopter pilot and was shot down out of the sky. When I see a veteran or a soldier I thank them for all that they gave to America. Plus I tell them thank you for all that you did and gave for America. Also I tell them that they and their families are in my thoughts and prayers.
My father. Served 8 years in the USMC loved every minute of it. After he dedicated his life to Law Enforcement. He was the best father I could have ever asked for.. On 08/09/2020 I got us a ride to Tampa from an old coworker who was also a marine served 6 years and had PTSD. My dad saw him as his brother. My father and I had fought that morning. We left to Tampa my dad and I sat in the back seat. He gave me a fist bump. My friend fell asleep at the wheel. We hit a mile marker and a culvert which ejected everyone from the car. My father died on the scene. I didn't care about anything else other than if he was ok. I was told in the hospital when I woke up he didnt make it and died in the wreck.. I lost it. I couldn't move. Fractured my spine in 4 places. Broke my neck. Collarbone. Etc. I didnt feel the pain. I felt the pain of my dad no longer with me. I wished I had told him I loved him. Hugged him. Apologized. Something. I miss you dad.. RIP DADDY. I love you so fucking much
I"m a afrikaner from SA. Been in the army in 1963. Did not fight on the Angola border but i have some hard memories. This song from Rory made me shed a tear. He is a great story teller through his singing Im sure he touch the heart of many men and woman. God bless you Rory. Jouye must be smiling from heaven.
If you served in Vietnam, this song always brings tears to your eyes. I was there in '66 and '67 in the Marine Corps. I'm still amazed that I survived the experience.
This is a great song. This is the first time I heard this song and I fell in love with it. Thank you, Mr. Sapp for recognizing and dedicating a song to Our Soldiers. My hubby comes home in 2 days after being gone for 2 years...can't wait! I'm going to be sure to play this for him when he gets home. Again, Thank You.....
my grandfather was a major I the Air Force he told me how he felt coming home to people who should have been thanking him and instead yelled and spit on him. so to these men and women who are serving I just want to say thank you!
Kendal R same my grandpa had a lot stories and that's the one he was most sad about he said men and women in the military go through so much and they deserve our love and respect so every time I see a soldier or vet I always thank them for their service
The 18 people who disliked this song have never been or never knew anyone that was in the army my daddy was in the navy in ww2 all most all of my uncles were in the army and I thank every body see because they riched there lives for you and me so I want to thank you all you your service . You didn’t have to but you did so thankkkkk you soooo much I love everyone who served or are serving .
I met a man back when i was in highschool. I was wallin through walmart and noticed his veitnam veteran hat, i walked up to him and said, “Sir, i know you might not have heard it when you came back, but id like to say thank you for your service and welcome home.” He started crying, he was happy that someone other than his family had finally said those words to him. After that, i had learned that he lived in my town, i went to visit him everyday. I sat on his porch with him and just talked to him. He was the greatest man ive ever known. Im sad that i only knew him for a short time, but i knew that he enojyed my company. I attended his funeral and i was one of very few that came. Rest in piece buddy. Im glad you came home.
cried like hell.. We were given a welcome home parade some time in he 80s I was still mad as hell and just wanted to forget and wouldn't join in or go .. years later I hit the wall and went over the edge and into a black hole, got found by some other vets and nursed thru my hell and the bastards got me my medals (I never wanted them as far as I was concerned the DVA could stick them up their proverbial arses). I finally got talked into doing an Anazc Day march it was the first time I had cried since christ knows when, this is the second time
Bryan, I can’t say I understand, because unless we went through what you & others did we will never understand. I was in that dark hole before & it’s a lonely place. It wasn’t for the kind of fight that you fought for ALL of us, it was a fight for my children lives & myself against 1 demon of a man. I shouldn’t even say man. But anyway, back to you, Please allow me to say, “Thank you, sir & Welcome Home, solder!” May God bless you & watch over you today, tomorrow & always.
Welcome home soldier...I am so sorry you were treated the way you were...so many of you came home broken and you just needed a safe place to detox from your demons...God bless...
My dad served in Vietnam came home to so much disrespect no one knows what they had to go thou over there I was 10 when he cane home and he cried telling me how can America be like this we are just fight for this place and to make sure we stay free my dad passed 3/11/19 and I made sure he got his 21 gun shot I miss you dad I will keep fighting for this country just like you did

I came home from Vietnam in 1967. I was marching in a memorial day parade in 68 when someone spit on my face. I can still feel it running down my cheek.
I did'nt think i would cry when i saw this but I was so wrong It made me think of all the men and women overseas and I just wanted to say thank you and that if it was not for all of you and the Vets we would prob be in a different place. So THANK you and GOD BLESS AMERICA because we have all of you still fighting for us at home.and for the ones that are at home and the ones coming home WELCOME HOME
Welcome home, know we are proud of you all, real heroes. I seen the hurt and deep misery and anger in my stepdad who raised three kids who weren’t his own. The pain finally passed and now the nightmares are gone away as he is in heaven almost three years now. Semper Fi
God bless and keep our precious Vietnam Vets! Shame on America, politicians and people like Jane Fonda. Thank you for your service, heros! Shame on the cowards who mistreated you!
To any and all Vietnam Veterans: Welcome Home! You fought hard for this land you love and I thank you for all of us. We're happy to have you home and you never deserved the treatment you received. Thank you and we're thankful for you!
After the Viet Nam War and back in the states, my buddy drank every evening until totally wasted. Then he would walk the streets talking but not to anyone, about how he wore his uniform proudly when we landed home only to be spit on at the airport again and again. It was in 1994, the I last saw him. God bless him wherever he is.
To all Veterans that listen to this song it might be a little late but `` Welcome home to all the men and women to fought for our Country. To those who didn't make it back I thank you for giving your life for us to live another day and I pray that every Veteran that is with us or has past that you all go to heaven and look down from above to see all the soldiers like you fighting for what you fought for and love that you pray for them that they might make it back home to the Country that they love and be welcomed back by friends and family and strangers. ``
This is the first time i've heard this song, it's beautiful and has me crying. Proud to be a born and raised girl from Virginia. Anybody that is not proud of our vets, what they stand for and how they served then OPINIONS ARE LIKE BUTT HOLES, EVERYBODY HAS ONE SO HERE'S,MINE, IF YOU DON'T LOVE OUR COUNTRY, WHAT OUR SOLDIERS FOUGHT AND DIED FOR YOU DON'T BELONG IN OUR GREAT COUNTRY SO GET THE HELL OUT
Lot of truth in this song,I know,I was one of those that WWII vets and Americans forgot and shunned, along with many other fellow Nam vets. The real folks who got theshort end of the stick were the guys who never made it back alive,my hat is off to them.
Ya know I’m glad really glad I live in America. I also realize that freedom is not free. There’s a price to pay. My father was in the Korean conflict and my uncles fought in WW2. So I think I get it. Respect and honor
When I was young I prayed every night that God would protect those young men who went to fight in that hell called Vietnam. I am 60 now and I know some of what they felt after serving 26 years myself. To all who served "Welcome home!!!"
Amanda Wallace Ma’am I know it’s a little late but, I want you to know I thank him for all of us, he fought hard for this land he loves and I’m so proud to call him one of our own. He is a true hero and I’m sorry I never got to say. Welcome home.
Nick not the time nor the place and thank you for serving the mentally taxing job of a soldier's wife I'm sure he went out without fear and courageously.
I am missing my boyfriend right now. I cannot wait until I say to him “welcome home.” I am going to hug him so much that I can not let go of him. I am so proud of him as well as I men and women. 🙏. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I can't wait for my husband to come home he's been overseas for too long I miss u baby stay safe baby boy I love you honey you know I'm always trying to stay strong for you
I'm very young (12) but since I was 4 I have been wanting to serve in the army like my father and grand father, and my great grand fathers. And if there is anything I'd love is to not be honored during Memorial Day. Why you ask because they honor the ones who died in combat I believe and I pray over me and all of y'all who are joining armed forces or have loved ones over seas that they don't get honored on Memorial Day, I pray that one day there will be PEACE! LONG LIVE AMERICA!
be safe over there my boyfriend is a marine to and i worry about him daily so i know how hard it is to be away from family but all you boys and girls currently overseas your families are proud of you and want you home safe and well
I left Vietnam 53 years ago, but the war never left me. Also our great home coming. 53 years later I still cry.

He is a great story teller through his singing
Im sure he touch the heart of many men and woman. God bless you Rory. Jouye must be smiling from heaven.
If you served in Vietnam, this song always brings tears to your eyes. I was there in '66 and '67 in the Marine Corps. I'm still amazed that I survived the experience.
Can I ask you for advice as the partner to 'nam marine
I want to thank everyone that has ever served in the military for our country. You guys should be treated with respect and never neglected.
Still one of the best songs for those of us that served during Nam..Thanks works for us
my grandfather was a major I the Air Force he told me how he felt coming home to people who should have been thanking him and instead yelled and spit on him. so to these men and women who are serving I just want to say thank you!
Kendal R same my grandpa had a lot stories and that's the one he was most sad about he said men and women in the military go through so much and they deserve our love and respect so every time I see a soldier or vet I always thank them for their service
The 18 people who disliked this song have never been or never knew anyone that was in the army my daddy was in the navy in ww2 all most all of my uncles were
in the army and I thank every body see because they riched there lives for you and me so I want to thank you all you your service . You didn’t have to but you did so thankkkkk you soooo much I love everyone who served or are serving .
What a magnificent and moving song 🎶! Very beautiful!
Im glad you came home.
cant wait for mine to come home..... miss you baby so much. im trying to stay so stong.
cried like hell..
Thank you Rory Lee Feek! God bless you and your family. From a drafted disabled Republic of Vietnam combat veteran, 52 years ago.

I came home from Vietnam in 1967. I was marching in a memorial day parade in 68 when someone spit on my face. I can still feel it running down my cheek.
I know it’s a lot too late but welcome home ❤️
Shame on the cowards who mistreated you!
great song always gets to me, why is it that the only time i hear those 2 words is from other Vietnam vets and this song
To any and all Vietnam Veterans: Welcome Home! You fought hard for this land you love and I thank you for all of us. We're happy to have you home and you never deserved the treatment you received. Thank you and we're thankful for you!
Thank you young lady. YOU were what it was all about. And I'd do it again. God Bless you and yours.
It took 50 years to hear that. But my 2nd wife said that to me. She said "welcome home sailor". It was worth the wait. I cried like a child.

Wow this is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard
Beautiful song and Thank you our Military Heros and God Bless you all , always be safe wherever life takes you.
I want to thank all of the soldiers that have been or is in war for our freedom. I also want to say god bless you guys and say thank you
He did, into a box.....my heart is his home, he will live there for ever😢
Thank you for your service and WELCOME HOME!!! To all who serves in our country's military
Missing my Marine son. Can’t wait for you to be back home. Semper Fi 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Love this song
I'm very young (12) but since I was 4 I have been wanting to serve in the army like my father and grand father, and my great grand fathers. And if there is anything I'd love is to not be honored during Memorial Day. Why you ask because they honor the ones who died in combat I believe and I pray over me and all of y'all who are joining armed forces or have loved ones over seas that they don't get honored on Memorial Day, I pray that one day there will be PEACE! LONG LIVE AMERICA!
To all who never heard it welcome home proud your one of our own. Thank you
