    This is great news.
    my melanoma came back twice (3 surgeries) Then did a year and a half of oral chemo (Tafinlar and Mekinst) followed by a year of immunotherapy, so I've been clear of melanoma for about 3 years. Just getting scanned every 6 months.
    I hope this new treatment will help all who need it.

      Same here. I live in the US & have been burnt to a crisp on numerous occasions in Florida & Arizona but I dunno whats different in Australia (hole in the ozone?) bc I got severe second degree burns, barely missed 3rd degree in several spots, there after just a couple hours. For me to get burned that badly here I’d have to be outside w no sunscreen for 4-5hours midday then go back out the next morning/midday for at least 2 or 3 hours. It was hot when I was there so it wasn’t like I had a false sense of security from cooler weather. The pain was extraordinary & it scarred my back shoulders & neck pretty bad beyond the usual freckles/moles. I probably slept 2hrs at most the next 4-5 nights.

      Dr. Jack Kruse has an interesting hypothesis on melanoma. Mine is gone after less than a month of "treatment", which cost me nothing.
      I wouldn't advise taking some belligerent neurosurgeons word on how to address such severe conditions of course (and he is quite abrasive, particularly in his podcast with Dr. Huberman of Stanford), but reviewing the published literature he cited led me to try it, as both my 'nomas were on skin areas that never saw sunlight. Prior to this I was unaware that melanoma rates are highest in those of us who rarely get sunlight, tightly correlate to low vit d levels and are rarely expressed in people of any background living near the equator (unless their lives are mostly spent indoors). A pr campaign in the 80s conflated non-lethal basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma (which are associated with excessive sun exposure) to the more dangerous melanoma (which is indeed the opposite)
      Fitzpatrick Type I here, and I had no idea I could safely tan without burning via pre-9am exposure to sunrise (which has virtually no uv and conditions the skin to safely accept moderate doses of uv-heavy sunlight later in the day.) In addition to treating my spots, my blood pressure dropped significantly to healthy levels (around 10pts systolic), my circadian clock is now spot on and my energy levels are higher than they have been since childhood. Also my need for caffiene decreased and sugar cravings are completely gone.
      I understand it sounds nuts, but I genuinely want to share what helped me.

    Is this different to CAR-T cell therapy, which is also personalised?

    • @user-ny7sg9mz1v

      Yes. It's different. There is no T cell engineering in this.

    • @il3mendo
      @il3mendo 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Car t theraphy works with t and b lymphocytes.
      With mRNA you change the DNA

    • @CellRus
      @CellRus 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is slightly different but also similar. For CAR-T, the T cells from the patient are removed and then they are genetically engineer to express receptor proteins that allow those T cells to recognise the antigens on the cancer cells. The T cells are then injected back into the patient. For the mRNA vaccine, we also need to identify the protein marker that only the cancer cells express, but instead of engineer a receptor on the T cells, we mRNA will encode for this protein marker and then injected into the patient. Inside the body, mRNA will be taken up by cells and they will start expressing this protein marker on their surface. This will trigger the immune system to recognise these foreign molecules, and then the body will generate clones of immune cells that can recognise cells that have these protein markers, which hopefully will be mostly the cancer cells. So they both work by using the immune system and how the immune cells can recognise cells with a particular molecular marker, but the method is different. And no, the mRNA will NOT change your DNA like the other person said, that's just not how mRNA works. mRNA is in the cytosol of every cell and it cannot change any of your genetic code whatsoever.

    • @Nxck2440
      @Nxck2440 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CellRus Thanks for the explanation! So it’s basically an mRNA vaccine but the sequence of RNA inserted is personalised, so that it codes for the antigens on the persons cancer cells (which are unique). Is that right?

    Immune memory is possibly the greatest protection against recurrence of cancer. If a vaccination like this is successful, it would mean that memory cells would be formed so that even if the cancer recurred, the immune system would be effective at killing the cancer before the cancer could become harmful. The challenge is in creating a vaccine against the numerous types of cancers and markers on cells that indicate the cell has become cancerous.

Given that melanoma has an inverse correlation with sun exposure (climbing at higher latitudes, higher in blue collar workers, higher in sunscreen users etc) will this product entirely replace the benefits of such exposure or is its job simply to return the metastized melanin back to subcutenous cells and prevent the melanoma from growing? Also will it help with the nonlethal "cosmetic cancers" such as bcc and scc? Finally, will it assist in improving the poor mitochondrial redox melanoma sufferers bear without the need for sun or cold treatments? Very interested.
