I have the 98 gasser 5.9. I would say these are great trucks. Btw i see you jave a dashmat too. Lmc truck sells dashes so you don't have to have massive holes in your dash anymore. I did a dash swap on mine and its so much better!

I have a mount that some guy made for my Dad when he owned the truck back in the day, but its a flimsy piece of crap that never got upgraded. Definitely doing what I can to restore and improve the rig now though...which includes being able to talk to my fellow road warriors. 😂 '97 12v 2500 w/ Dana 60/80 axles, 3.55 rear, Gear Vendors (3rd, 4th, 5th overdrive) and steel rims running a set of 225/70R19.5 x 32" 14 ply rubber.

My bracket has a flat piece and a 2 by 4 that screwed to the floor and it has a 90 bracket from the floor with 2 braces coming up from the bottom to the back. It's really sturdy. And heck yeah man restore it!! That will be awesome definitely post videos on it I'd like to see it!! And yes mine is a 97 2500. 60 front 80 rear 3.55 gears im running 16 inch wheels with 33s right now until they wear out then I'm going to 35s

Looking at mine I should be able to make a similar modification and get it ready for my larger CB. Ironically it's the same one you have installed. About the restoration...I definitely want to do it, but I'm a bit unsure where to start. Firstly there's the immediate maintenance issues and repairs like new rotors, clutch, 5th gear fix and such, but someday I'd like to go really deep and pull everything apart, sandblast the frame rails, cab, bed, and repaint everything. Send out the engine for a total rebuild with forged parts, completely new wiring...the works. Eventually I want to make it into my main (small) hauling rig. Perhaps even the truck that I can retire with someday! But the total bill for that...I don't want to even guess at right now. Baby steps. I'll definitely post some videos of what I can do myself though, probably on a dedicated channel! Definitely want to keep mine alive as long as possible. This specific generation has its flaws, but it's still special.

I loved that truck, it was rough in the rust department but I drove it more than my brand new denali duramax lol. I sold it right before my dmax went to the dealer for 4 months for a def tank. I remember watching this video months before I bought my cummins. 05 24v CR, 5 speed nv4500 swap. Body is junk but motor has 119k on it. What turbo, injectors, exhuast setup do you have? Thing sounds killer!
Honestly I have the stock injectors hx35 turbo. I have the 4 inch exhaust into 7 inch stacks. Hell yeah man body can be fixed that's a sweet set up!! I really want a 3rd gen 4 door but I want to build this truck first lol

I have 3.55 ratio. I also have 35 inch tires. The manual transmission truck had 4.10's and with my transmission 4.10s with stock tires 2k was 60. But same transmission with 3.55s and 35 in tires 50mph on speedo is 62 by the GPS for me
It cost right much to fill it up but I have a camper and a gooseneck trailer I pull with it so I need it but before I had all of that I daily drove this truck yeah its probably not practical but it's alot of fun!

She just has a hydro boost problem and the transmission pan gasket is leaking a half quart every 3 days. That’s why I got her for so low. She was a farm truck and the previous owner didn’t want to sell it but his wife didn’t drive it anymore since he got her a new Jeep. You can find gems. They’re just hard to come by.
Yeah. Use to have 20 inch wheels on it and now I'm paying the price for it..... all of my front end had been shook loose. And broke parts. So it's alot better now I have it way tighter now than it was in this video but yeah man dodge does have Supreme steering hahaha

Hardest part for me was cutting the hole in the floor. Unbolt auto Transmission take out put 5 or 6 speed Transmission back in and swap pedals easy. It's just heavy but won't hard at all did it in a weekend

Wasn't hard At all it was heavy! Hahah I did the swap in a weekend and took my time. Once you get the auto out of the way and take the flex plate off and throw on a flywheel and clutch you just cut a hole in the floor put the new Trans in and hook up your peddles not hard.
It's actually a heavy duty 4 speed with a low technically. It has always grinded from low to 1st gear but after that it doesn't have to be dubble clutched. So that's why I had to dubble clutch that first shift
I see this truck was an auto before…did you do the swap your self? If so, did you swap out the pcm and put one from a manual truck on yours? I did a manual swap on my 2001 Cummins, nv4500 swap. And before I go through the gears once, it wont go over 2000 rpm’s in 1st and 2nd gear…
It's the same pcm. It's a 97. 12v. No computer for the engine. It runs the same as it did with a auto. Just alot more fun lol. I bought a 95 12v that had the nv4500 drove it home. Swapped the Trans and the pedals and that was it. Sold the rest of the truck almost for what I paid for it and the auto Trans that all most paid for everything I did in the swap.
Is that 5th gear taken care of on the 4500? Notorious for falling off the shaft. Sometimes there are just as many issues with the manual as with auto. Sounds great!
Yeah. Did the 5th gear fix. And swapped out the aluminum bracket between the Trans and the transfer case to cast. And put in a 450hp clutch. Should have fixed the issues. I just like the idea of is something happens I can atleast try something lol
5th gear fix was super easy to fix on mine. All you have to do is remove the transfer case take the tail housing off and you slide the gear back on and tighten your gear hold nut back up. I bought a lock off of ebay that slid on the tail shaft and holds that lock nut from backing off and put it back together and no more issues. And you don't have to remove the Trans from the truck
Should be the same bell housing for the 99. The swap is very easy. It's just heavy lol. But with the 99 being a 24v you might need to check on the computer situation. Mine has no computer for the engine. I don't know if a auto computer with affect the engine if it has a 5 speed but hardest part for my swap was trying to find a donor truck but you can do the swap without the donor truck you just have to find the pedals and all. But it's very worth it!! Trust me!! Good luck 🙂

But I did the swap over the weekend. Cutting the hole in the floor was nerve-wracking lol. But it wasn't bad just heavy lol.
Agreed, a doner truck is the way to go you will have everything you need. I'm definitely gonna do the swap if I happen to grenade another trans. So far she's holding up good with the billet flex plate an 3 disc TC.
Yes mine was the 47re and when the Trans temperature would get up on a hot day it would shutter under a load. So instead of sending it off I started looking for a truck and came across one. But it still drove fine and it had been rebuilt with extra clutches. But I was starting to get nervous when I was hauling stuff so I just did the swap. And honestly that was the best thing I ever did.
This was the sound that made me fall in love with diesels

what rear ratios do you have tring to figure if my tach is lieing to me tells me that im doing about 2k at 60mph with 4.10 ratio

What happened to your alignment?
Suspension was loose from 20 inch wheels it has been fixed now
All 2nd Gen dodges are like that. Mine is too. They get loose on the front end.
