So, I’m not exactly a TH-camr YET, but I am planning on starting to grow an Authortube Channel. I just found your channel about 20 minutes ago, and I’m loving it already! It’s so awesome that you started to do what you’ve wanted to do for so long, and one day, when you have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, the people who’re here now will be able to say that they’ve seen it from the very beginning. As for vulnerability, I get what you mean. Totally! It’s just so…weird, talking to a camera and knowing that there’s gonna be loads of people out there who don’t want you to. But I just think of it this way: People are gonna judge you whether or not you start a TH-cam Channel. They’re gonna judge you in the real world as well, so what’s a few online haters on youtube? Some people won’t like you, but many people will LOVE you for who you are, and that’s what counts the most, in my opinion. As for knitting…I tried knitting a few years ago, but I just can’t. I can’t keep the wool on because it doesn’t have the help that you have while crocheting. But even crocheting is something I stopped doing a few years back. I may start up again, I may not, but the most important thing is to just do what you love. I really like your videos, Danica, and I can already see your success in a few years! Welcome to Authortube good luck, and have fun!
❤️oh you're so sweet, thank you!! and absolutely. making a little piece of yourself to put out on the internet is such a strange and vulnerable thing, but the rewards can be so great! I've loved so much getting to meet people and contribute to this community (even more so than I had when I made this), and I really think the benefits outweigh the scariness. I wish you all the best of luck in starting your own channel!! 💕 I've never tried crocheting but I totally know what you mean about knitting - the loops on the knitting needles always scare me a little 😂 but it's so rewarding to do something with your hands and have a finished project at the end 🧶
I swear your channel will end up being my new favourite lmao I'm learning how to knit right now, obviously its fate. my only advice is to ignore them cause you're so wholesome and nice!
Your scarf looks so cozy!! (I love knitting as well but I absolutely cannot judge yours because I'm a noob). I've just started AuthorTube this week(!) and totally understand where you're coming from. It's terrifying putting ourselves out there, but it looks like your channel has been so successful and I'm excited to see more of your writing journey!
For me personally, I think it all depends on how someone criticizes my work in regards to how I respond. Some people just have a very blunt and matter-of-fact personality that can sometimes come across as rude if read in a defensive way. Other times people say negative things to try and make themselves feel superior or like they have a one-up on you somehow, and those are the type of comments I often just ignore. I rather enjoy criticism though (within reason). It helps me grow as an artist and it challenges me to consider my resolve. If they make a great point, it helps me to improve and adjust. If I feel like their criticism is just an opinion, or doesn't quite take away from what I was going for, then I thank them for their thoughts and carry on with my writing, content creation, whatever it may be. I think what you said about when someone is seen, it makes them vulnerable is spot on. It's actually one of the main... I don't know if I'd call it a theme, but maybe... of the book that I'm writing. My best piece of advice is, in being seen, let those who are uplifting figures in your life know that you see them too. Negativity and criticism will always find its way in through the cracks, but the good outweighs it. Plus, from what you've posted so far, I think you'll have tons of great content. Keep it up! Hope that helps!
wow, these are really great thoughts! I love the idea of passing on the support to people you admire when you're feeling down on yourself as a way to pull yourself out of it AND do some good. sounds like a really interesting book! and definitely with you on constructive criticism - it's so important for learning and growth, but how it's delivered definitely impacts how easy it is to receive haha I think later this year when I start looking for CPs, I'll be facing more of this regularly. thanks for all the great thoughts! (+ sorry for the delayed response! I just discovered the seemingly random comment spam folder that this got lost in and fished it out, apologies!)
Whenever I posted a video it was always nerve wracking and exciting, in a good way. It’s important to just focus on the positive. You’ll always come across those Negative Nancy’s that throw hate, but just try not to let them get you down. Let the positive outweigh the negative. 💕 You’re doing great so far!
thanks, faith!! 💕 it definitely seemed comical when I saw it haha (+ sorry for the delay, I finally discovered TH-cam's weird "held for review" folder this comment got lost in!!)
P.S. This isn't really me, just the family account. I'll subscribe with my proper account soon. I'm considering starting a channel, but I'm older and not sure I want people to watch me get wrinkly.
"anointed" is exactly how it feels 😂 and absolutely no worries, thanks for watching! there's tons of room on authortube, you should definitely come join the madness. let me know if you do decide to start posting, I'd love to watch!
From what I have seen, they are more than likely spam accounts. I've posted a few videos and barely 30 seconds of then being oublished, they already have a dislike. Unless someone is watching me THAT close?? Which I doubt. But depending on what your tags are when you fill out the stuff when uploading, you can get a lot of spam bots "watching" and commenting. Although, even a dislike click counts as engagement, so it's a positive for you algorithm wise.
the more I've thought about it, the more I think you're totally right. I do seem to get a decent number of spam comments - I even had to delete a few on my first video, and maybe those accounts disliked? definitely interesting. thanks so much for the info!! I probably wouldn't have thought of that!
... how did someone manage to find something to dislike in your newbie tag?? baffling. although i'm a little jealous (is that the right word?) that you got your first dislike out of the way.
well I'd throw you a dislike, but I really like your content 😂 I totally get that feeling tho. good news is honestly, it's not so bad here on the other side :)
Haha the opening of this video was classic!
hahaha I'm so glad you liked it!! 😂 wasn't sure how many people would find it funny when I made it haha
@@DanicaGray haha nah loved it! I've hit that like and that subscribe and I'm sure I'll bump into you on a stream sometime haha

hi morgan!! this is excellent advice, I think you’re totally right. its kind of par for the course but not worth focusing on!
Hi, Danica! I’ve also just started posting videos & I’m so excited to have found your content and to watch the growth! ✨✨✨
Thanks, Emily!! it's lovely to have you here :) here's to the newbies starting out on youtube!
I can't understand why anyone would dislike an introduction video? Some people are just mean... Glad you didn't let it bother you!

I'm so glad you thought so!! 😂 I couldn't tell if I'd be the only one who thought it was funny hahaha
