The album this song is on came out right before my dad died in 2008 and this song especially helped me. I got to thank Slug when they came to Detroit in 2018.

So i love atmosphere, i repsect this song and how deep it goes. BUT i remember an early stage e-harmony commercial that has a similar piano riff and that's all i hear when i listen to this song.
First time I heard this I was walking down the street on my MP3 player/phone thing, and stood still, and replayed the song. Big L with Jay Z, lots of censoring, 1993 freestyle on a radio, Big L used some of his known lyrics, then pops off 10x better than JayZ. Big L was clearly underrated, his flows were unique crazy for the time. Like the guy came from the future, 2000-2010 and just said, let me rewrite history abit.
This is one of those songs, I love it but I can't listen to it very often. The only song that hits harder than this imo is Flicker on their Southsiders album. Flicker I'll legit start crying every time I hear it cause it's about Sean's best friend Eyedea. If you really want a tearjerker check out Flicker lol.
I recommend you take a listen to Envy , she was a uk rapper , her debut single Set yourself on fire , is worth a listen, that girl could spit bars , the whole album is epic, shame she stopped
If y'all are still looking for atmosphere tracks/albums you need need need to check out god loves ugly. The song is dope but the album as a whole is a masterpiece and their best in my opinion. Really awesome to see you guys listening to some of my hometown heroes like these dudes and prof. Much love!
Atmosphere is absolutely underrated. The way slug paints a story in your brain is next level. He will always be in my top 2 and he isn't 2.
