What makes 'The Last Crusade' stand out for me, is that the film is about so much more than a treasure hunt. I love 'Raiders', and consider it a flawless masterpiece. However, the relationship between Indy and his dad in 'Last Crusade' does add another layer of depth to the plot. The true moment of triumph in the movie is not the finding of the Grail, but the reconciliation between father and son at the end. At that moment, both Indy and his dad realise that the mending of their broken relationship is far more important than all the glories the Grail can offer.
Kjetil Hansen tarded George Lucas wanted the end to be about the grail but my man Spielberg made it the father son reconciliation. Bless Spielberg’s heart

Yeah. The very first and only one original James Bond :) Did you know that Indiana Jones in 2nd movie, Hong Kong scene, wears the same white outfit like James Bond in Dr. No (played by none other than Sir Sean Connery)?
@@CZghost Bond was always a sort of inspiration for Indy yes, George Lucas always said that. Part of the reason he and Spielberg wanted Connery for the father in last crusade was Bond quite literally being the "father" to Indy in terms of inspiration. But just to correct you on one thing: the white tuxedo Indy wears in Shanghai is actually based on what Sean wears in Goldfinger not Dr No 😊
I've just watched last crusade again. The feeling of nostalgia and joy is impossible to describe in words, master William's music affects me in the way my mind can't understand. One of the best movies ever made, such films are not being done nowadays. Truly a masterpiece!
My favorite Indiana Jones movie of all time!! I’ve loved Indiana Jones since childhood and this one has always been my favorite, it’s the one my Dad grew watching the most and this makes me think of my Dad and I and the adventure of Indiana Jones we have together, I love you forever Dad! One of my favorite movies of all time!! Love this so much!!❤️❤️
Actually, after re-watching it my opinion has changed but I do still like it. Everyone always says how dum and stupid the ending was to 4 with the aliens. Now just take a moment to think about the ending to 3. There was a man who had been living for thosands of years!
I love this theme, it plays every time the Holy Grail is referred to or presented in the film, absolutely brilliant. There’s an extended version of this available with it’s various formats throughout.
Williams' mix of styles is very curious. 00:22 is a perfectly coplandesque theme, but 00:44 is a modal hymn-like tune close to Vaughan-Williams. 01:22 seems to amalgamate these two styles. Amusing :)
Indiana Jones was a masterpiece that raised cinematic standards drastically. The movies were cornerstones of my childhood and that made Harrison Ford my hero. Indiana Jones to me, is more than a franchise of perfect movies, it’s more than a masterpiece, it literally inspires me. It brings nostalgia to me of my childhood: playing LEGO Indiana Jones and enjoying the simpler times. It is hands down, the best movie franchise that will ever have been made in my opinion.
My Nana's favorite of the franchise was The Last Crusade. I always watch it every now and then in memory of her, in addition to the movie being just amazing.
I had a cassette tape of this movie's soundtrack back in 1989. I would go to sleep hugging my stereo while this played, night after night. I was 7, too young to see it in theaters, so this was as close as I could get. I knew every single note by heart. I had seen Raiders, Temple of Doom on VHS, and I had also seen King Solomon's Mines and I did not care it wasnt Indy. I loved those adventure films back then.
@@ricus78 I don't know, maybe you're right, but Harrison Ford was not the problem with the last Indiana Jones movie, although I do realize that was like ten years ago now. My, how quickly time has passed. They should have made Indy 5 a few years ago, like five, when they had the chance.
First of all, Harrison Ford is old and tired, he won't be playing Indy anymore. And if he would, you don't expect him to fight nazis again, when an older Indy was portrayed during cold war? If they make Indiana Jones 5, I'd simply predict it would be a reboot series instead and yet again numbered from number 1. Without Harrison Ford, it won't be great Indiana Jones like in 1984-1989 (the first 3 movies, the fourth was not that great). Or, they may make sequels with his son instead. The last scene of The Kingdom of Crystal Skull quite implied Henry Jones 3rd could be the next Indiana Jones, right? And his dad would occasionally show up :)
"Elsa never really believed in the grail. She thought she'd found a prize." "And what did you find, Dad?" "Me? A bunch of fuggin' dongs in my mouth." "What?" "Oh sorry, I mean, uh... Illumination."
Movie franchises works best as a trilogy, beyond that things starts to go downhill .. and you must not have too big a time gap between each sequel because everyone starts to lose touch and forget how the magic used to work ...
Thank God they never made a fourth one. What next, you gonna tell me we got Russian villains, Shia LaBeouf as Indy's son, and a hunt for aliens? Pff, sounds like shit, one can only imagine 😳
o.O - Oh yes, you should be ashamed! But on the other hand there's enough time left to let it happen, 14kip .. do it! In a row and have a nice time! ;o)

But just to correct you on one thing: the white tuxedo Indy wears in Shanghai is actually based on what Sean wears in Goldfinger not Dr No 😊
@@tonywiseman1874 Ok, sorry :D I don't know Bond movies that much into detail, so thanks :D
was a Legendary Actor ....RIP
I've just watched last crusade again. The feeling of nostalgia and joy is impossible to describe in words, master William's music affects me in the way my mind can't understand. One of the best movies ever made, such films are not being done nowadays. Truly a masterpiece!
01:46 is amazing! John Williams, sir, take a bow!!!
This movie and the Raiders of the Lost Ark will always be my favorite ^-^
TurdManJones Same
Same
Best in the series!
kinda like how i feel about Alien, its Aliens and Alien 3 rest is kinda crap same with indiana jones, its the Raiders of the lost ark and Last crusade
Yes!
Love this so much!!❤️❤️
Best out of the four.
Actually, after re-watching it my opinion has changed but I do still like it. Everyone always says how dum and stupid the ending was to 4 with the aliens. Now just take a moment to think about the ending to 3. There was a man who had been living for thosands of years!
Joe Horne Yeah cause he drank out of the grail and was given immortal life. At least the makes sense within the plot of that movie
Joe Horne
If by "thousands" you mean "seven hundred", as was explicitly stated.
Bridger Mikolai I'm aware of that, but what I was not aware of was that someone was going to be all pickey about it.
Bridger Mikolai you know, and I know so there is no point in pointing it out.
I listen to this every morning to push through my hangovers and get things accomplished for the day
I don't know why but this movie and this soundtrack is so nostalgic, I really miss better times.
I will never forget the first time I watched this movie and broke down in tears. This movie belongs in a museum.
RIP Sean Connery. You will never be forgotten!
Count to Twenty. In Greek!
Pain Station Ena, dio, tria, tessera...
River Phoenix
0:43 to 1:10 It's probably one of the most beautiful and haunting tune Williams ever composed.
I love this theme, it plays every time the Holy Grail is referred to or presented in the film, absolutely brilliant. There’s an extended version of this available with it’s various formats throughout.
th-cam.com/video/rQcAN0RiueA/w-d-xo.html Here it is!
It really was the perfect ending to the trilogy and this music is just amazing.
Trilogy?
Has Mr. Williams ever had a good night's sleep?
R.I.P Sean Connery. You Will Be Missed
It hurts, knowing that there won't be a movie that will ever measure up to this.
Sallah: The dog you were named after dog *laughs*
We named the dog Indiana
I've got a lot of fond memories of that dog
Thats another subtle way to put a bad Father-Son relationship... Indy was more fond of his dog than his father T_T
Rest in peace Sean Connery
To a great father and the best James Bond
I honestly think that even when im 90 years old, if I make it that far, ill be whistling the bit when they’re riding off into the sunset together...
0:43 sends chills down my spine every time
AUTOGRAPHED By hitler XD 0_0
Could make some good money off that.
"IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!"
Yeah, I laughed at that part a lot :D :D :D
@@jarskil8862 You're joking, right?
@@CZghost I meant if I had something signed by him, how much money would I get if I sold it to collector
From 1:23 to 1:57 is my favorite piece of music of all time!
Williams' mix of styles is very curious. 00:22 is a perfectly coplandesque theme, but 00:44 is a modal hymn-like tune close to Vaughan-Williams. 01:22 seems to amalgamate these two styles. Amusing :)
Vaughan-Williams got that style from Tallis
Indiana Jones was a masterpiece that raised cinematic standards drastically. The movies were cornerstones of my childhood and that made Harrison Ford my hero. Indiana Jones to me, is more than a franchise of perfect movies, it’s more than a masterpiece, it literally inspires me. It brings nostalgia to me of my childhood: playing LEGO Indiana Jones and enjoying the simpler times. It is hands down, the best movie franchise that will ever have been made in my opinion.
There is no specific part of this theme that is amazing. The whole theme is ultimately flawless.
2:41 This is the part that should belong to the museum!
Rest In Peace Sean Connery. He’ll be missed and remembered in all our hearts
Junior, you did it! : )
+IntoTheMindlessAbyss
Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Junior"?
+CrniWuk "i gotta lot of fond memories of that dog"
+IntoTheMindlessAbyss yes I did :)
Junior! Its really you!
He chose... poorly.
My Nana's favorite of the franchise was The Last Crusade. I always watch it every now and then in memory of her, in addition to the movie being just amazing.
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade the best movie of the earth
X-marks the spot!(Indy)................
haha
CrOCkErJl i know people who have never seen this movie.... what fools.....
yes
X never marks the spot
My childhood in a nutshell!
Jamie Childs Accually I didnt grow up when they were released but I still watched them years later and I loved them even though I was a bit late. :)
+gamesandmovies100 me too
+gamesandmovies100 me too 🙋
I had a cassette tape of this movie's soundtrack back in 1989.
Come on Indiana Jones 5 in 2020! Can't wait! Close this series properly. Just had an Indy marathon over Easter weekend! This theme never gets old
tvmoviefan Steven Spielberg is such an idiot he wants to make Indiana Joan after Indy 5 with a female lead
NCR RANGER1995 well thats probably Indy's granddaughter. In the tv series about young indy we find out he has a granddaughter
NCR RANGER1995 if Indiana Jones goes down the same path as Star Wars I’ll be so upset.
IdontHaveAname yeah, if they do I’ll be fucking furious.
I've got the title for Indy 5, as Harrison is pushing 80, like my Dad (both were born in 1942)..........Indiana Jones And The Golden Walker!!!!
0:43 I use this for my Nights of the Nine character in Oblivion. From Chorrol to Skingrad to the infernal depths of Oblivion.
Oblivion is awsome and my favoirte TES game
YEAAA
A fifth Indy movie has just been confirmed. Please please please, all the people involved with it, re capture the magic of the first three movies.
Stefano Lanza really?
Stefano Lanza I don't have any expectation and I don't hope for anything except for it to be good, it doesn't have to be a masterpiece but pleaseee
Harrison Ford is old and tired. He cannot be a great Indy anymore!
I love the comments for this video. The fact that everyone is here for this beautiful music and amazing film, Indy will forever live in our hearts!
When I listen to this song I think of Henry Jones Sr. This is his theme song. RIP CONNERY
"Elsa never really believed in the grail. She thought she'd found a prize."
"And what did you find, Dad?"
"Me? A bunch of fuggin' dongs in my mouth."
"What?"
"Oh sorry, I mean, uh... Illumination."
Damn it Constantine!
Why did they have to make a fourth one, The last crusades ending was beautiful.
Fourth one?
Movie franchises works best as a trilogy, beyond that things starts to go downhill .. and you must not have too big a time gap between each sequel because everyone starts to lose touch and forget how the magic used to work ...
Thank God they never made a fourth one. What next, you gonna tell me we got Russian villains, Shia LaBeouf as Indy's son, and a hunt for aliens?
Pff, sounds like shit, one can only imagine 😳
Well, now they've made a fifth one !
Unpopular opinion I like the forth one purely because it was the first Indiana jones film I ever watched
I honestly think this is the best Indiana Jones movie by far and the soundtrack is amazing!
Hearing John William's music in a dark theater is like going back to youth.
1:10 My favorite portion of this entire piece.
This is perfect in every way.
0:41 reminds me of my Grandpa, which is why this is why my absolute favorite movie. Miss you Papa.
I very sorry your papa is dead
So many memorable quotes in one movie !
This was the best of the four movies. (in my opinion.) The music is phenomenal, the action was good, and the story made good sense.
1:22 Instant Memories of the Knight raising his Hand for a last goodbye
0:43 to 0:55
Such a wonderful movie! Really defined much of my sense for adventure. Watched it many times with my father.
I'm feelin' the urge to see this movie again.. as fast as possible. And i know, it ends (once again) in a Indy-Marathon of all movies in a row.. ;o)
Best afternoon ever ! Go do it ;)
Did it, 14kip.. and i will repeat.. but first i have to watch the Back to Future and StarWars-Trilogys.. ;o)
I'm quite ashamed I've never seen any back to the future movies ;p ' and I was born in 84
o.O - Oh yes, you should be ashamed! But on the other hand there's enough time left to let it happen, 14kip .. do it! In a row and have a nice time! ;o)
Blarksel once did a star wars marathon. Started around 9 and ended at 1... the next morning.
7:06 - I saw that Mr. Williams, that bit from Beethoven 9th 'Scherzo'
"I named the dog Indiana."
Professor Henry Jones : If only I could have been there with you.
Indiana Jones : There were rats, Dad.
Professor Henry Jones : [Startled] Rats?
