- Having never seen a day of soccer in my life, I was surprised when I found out that it wasn't until only 8ish years ago that NBC Sports starting showing Americans how real people play footie on the telly. It was quite entertaining to watch Jason Sudeikis play his now ICONIC role, long before the show was even conceptualized - the same funny man, the same funny jokes, but just...less of it.
These little treats, plus Hannah Waddingham's delightful acceptance speech at the Emmys (really quite charming and sweet) was a perfect little send off for this amazing series until season 3 arrives!! We love reacting to Ted Lasso, and will wait in great agony for the next season of this fantastic character.

The best part about the Leicester City joke is the timing of it. When that sketch aired it was around 2015 and Leicester was considered a bottom tier team in the Premier league (they were almost relegated the season before). At the beginning of the season they were given something like 5000 to 1 odds of the winning the league. Well imagine everyones surprise when they suddenly rose to the top and (as Ted put it) won the whole f*cking thing. it's a genuinely great story that is worth looking up. Of course this also implies that Ted is the reason for why Leicester won the league since in the sketch he was hired as the manager lol

Late reply but Leicester won the league their first year after getting promoted. So even longer odds than almost having been relegated

At 10:20, that is Tim Howard - an American Goalkeeper who had a great run in the Premier League and was an absolute HERO for the U.S. in the 2014 World Cup (he even set the record for most saves in a single game!). Now he's a commentator for the EPL games.
7:22 The other commentator on the show is Chris Powell who was a former premier league player who also played for England. He is now one of the coaches for the England team

So glad you introduced Sam to Ted Lasso! Still surprised there aren't many people reacting to the show. The sketches are great but I love all the feels and character development you get from the show.
Lots of football specific in-jokes For example he wore a Spurs kit into the pub full of Arsenal supporters.

I enjoy seeing how they tweaked the the jokes that did carry over to fit within the show to make it more Ted Lasso and less Led Tasso
Hannah Waddingham is STUNNING, and so original - SHE HAS TO BE IN THE NEXT WONDER WOMAN FILM AS EITHER A VILLIAN OR AS A RELATIVE SUCH AS ANOTHER AUNT OR SOMETHING TO WONDER WOMAN.
The visual inspiration for Ted was coach Mike Ditka, according to Jason. There's a photo of him where he's wearing the white shirt, blue shorts, orange sunglasses, with the same haircut and mustache. Ted in this sketch basically looks like a Mike Ditka cosplayer if you look at that picture, and it's amazing.
Aaw you guys left out the tv spot where he calls legendary coach Jose Mourinho

Personally...
1. I think Nate will have some kind of redemption, but it will be unexpected and bittersweet. Alas I don't see him coming back to Richmond and baking biscuits with Ted.
2. We love a theme, but I don't know that we'll do jerseys. Probably just mugs, or maybe t-shirts.

I recognized her voice a long time before I made the association with where it came from. When it finally dawned on me who she was I smacked myself in the head! I love her!
I smiled when I saw this pop up.. took a short break to watch.. I saw the clips as the show was coming out and learning about it.. funny. AND, if someone falls through, AND caught on camera... I'll take an hour of crappy online survey's and send it to you.. (but if the it's someone you both gasp over attractive.. deals off) have fun :)

I hate to believe this, but I think the Jennifer Lawrence joke is because she was Manchester. Man chest. I don't agree with it but I think that was the joke.
I'd assumed it was a sort of 'came sort of out of nowhere / was a plucky underdog and then started winning everything' connection
@@inbadcompany100 maybe, but without that explanation most people just hear Manchester City then immediately Jennifer Lawrence. I have no clue about the pickup trucks.
@@stevenrod100 but each of the jokes before it are about the clubs, their records or club badges etc, so they're not setting up for a pun (and if they are, that's a shit pun). I also think the pickup trucks is about West Ham being (at the time) a large/tall team that's plays pretty unsexy, boring football (no offense to West Ham fans).
@@inbadcompany100 you're probably right. When people like me and reactors like Jackie and Sam who knows nothing about soccer see it our minds can make connections that aren't really there. These commercials were aimed at audiences already familiar with the league and players, such as when the one player is at a bar with Ted and we have no idea who he is but still expected to get the joke.
No, it was because Man City was the up and coming hot team at the time, like Jen Lawrence was the rising star in acting.

just some advice, we all know how the aging process works, you dont need to interrupt every minute with comments on someones looks...... and the same comment about their looks...... over and over and over....
Season one of the show was so good. Season 2 was awful im hoping season there doesn't ignore so many important moments like S2 did
For me the show being as amazing as it is is even more shocking after seeing these sketches not that they weren't funny but Ted Lasso so easily could have been like the God awful Gieco Caveman series but thanks to the people involved it is amazing and the more I see Waddingham the more in love I am of her. 🩳🩳🩳💗💜💙
