  • This shawl pattern is not mine, but it's very easy and perfect for beginners. It also includes a demonstration on how to increase one stitch.
    I'm not endorsed by either Lion Brand or Knitter's Pride; I just enjoy using their products. :)

    For anyone getting bitten by the “bug” of knitting shawls: if you have the funds, invest in circular knitting needles with interchangeable tips. Over time, expand your stash of tip sizes and cable sizes. It’s a game changer. With the cable(s) you can fit A LOT more stitches on your needles, and if you find you need a different size needles, you just change the tips. Your needles don’t get in the way because they’re so long either which makes knitting more comfortable and if you find the stitches are getting crowded you simply knit as if switching needles, or slip everything onto a longer cable. If you have graduated towards more complex patterns than this one (cable patterns, lace patterns, brioche patterns, infinity scarves, moebius scarves, you name it) and you feel the need for lifelines, and if your set of interchangeables are the type that screw on and have a small hole in the base, adding lifelines becomes ridiculously easy: tie a piece of dental floss through the hole and knit your next row, carrying the dental floss along the length of the needle. The floss will thread itself through the stitches. Once the row is done, untie the floss, make sure you’ve got enough slack in the floss, snip off the floss, secure both ends of the floss with stitch holders, beads, whatever you fancy so the floss doesn’t slip out. No threading the lifeline/floss stitch by stitch and spending ages doing so. Yay! Especially with large projects (wide shawls, afghans etc) threading a lifeline through can take a long time and some will abstain because they feel it takes too long. Then they’re sorry when they drop a stitch or make some other mistake (been there!). I got this lifeline hack from a TH-cam video and have never looked back since.

    Using bamboo knitting needles makes working this yarn is much better as it's not so slippery. I almost gave it up until I ran to Michales and got different needles.

      I usually use bamboo or Knit Picks wooden needles with this yarn as well. I should've warned against aluminum needles, thank you for pointing that out. Happy knitting!

      Looks can be deceiving! 😁 It knits up like a worsted, trust me. And I usually will just Febreze the garment, although I have some friends who will gently hand wash stuff made from Shawl In A Ball. Personally, I love this yarn. ♥️

    Some of us don't know how to do squat, and are here to learn from git-go and have nothing to compare it to, so all of this other chitty- chat that is not getting straight to the point, is it 'bout to frustrate me. . . .
    EDIT: So I skipped ahead. Seems like nothing got done for all the chitty chat. And why don't people doing the stop-start halting progression way of knitting, otherwise known as English or Throwing Style, never tell you in the title that's what kind of knitting this video contains? It's as if each knitter thinks it's the only way to knit. Eastern knitting is so much easier.

    • @thecraftygoddess1025
      @thecraftygoddess1025  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your preference is Eastern knitting, exactly why did you click on my video?
      Also, if the "chitty-chat" bugged you THAT much, maybe hit the mute button next time...? 🤷🏻
