1) MR, ch 2, 9 DCs into ring (10)
2) DC inc (20)
3) (DC inc, 1) x 10 (30)
4) (DC inc, 1,1) x 10 (40)
5) (DC inc, 1,1,1) x 10 (50)
6) (DC inc, 1,1,1,1) x 10 (60)
7) DC in to each stitch around (60)
For Size M or L, use alt instructions below for row 7:
M- (DC inc, DC in ea of next 9) x 6.

8) ch 2, skip 1 stich to the RIGHT of the ch. DC into the 2nd stitch to the right. Skip 2 stitches to the LEFT of the beg. ch 2 and DC into the 3rd. Ch 1, DC into the 1st of the 2 stitches you skipped. Repeat around- 20 criss cross stitchesJoin [22 for M, 24 for L] (60, 66, 72)
9) Ch 2, HDC in each around (60, 66, 72)
10) Repeat row 8 (60,66,72)
11-13) DC in each around (60,66,72)
14) Ch 1, SC into each around. Join to 1st Sc. (60,66,72)
SCARF:
1) ch 27. DC into 3rd from hook and then DC in to each chain to the end (26)
2-4) ch 2, DC into each. Turn work
5) ch 2, skip 1 stich to the RIGHT of the ch. DC into the 2nd stitch to the right. Skip 2 stitches to the LEFT of the beg ch 2 and DC into the 3rd. Ch 1, DC into the 1st of the 2 stitches you skipped. Repeat - 8 criss cross stitches. DC into last stitch (26)
6) ch 2, HDC into each across. Turn
7) Repeat row 5
8) Repeat rows 1-7 to the desired length. End scarf with 5 rows of DC.
