Wow, that seems like a massive bait and switch but you may be right. When we slow down the footage you can see the mask on the duchess. I've also noticed they're trying to only show her from the back.
@@square-table-gaming There are a few promotional images and screenshots that show the mask. If you look at the white-robed lady, you can also see that she has similar boots and similar hair. It would be interesting if she was still the "main girl" of the game, ala the Maiden in Black or Shanalotte (or the Firekeeper, lol). She and the Wylder seem to be in the most promotional material.
I don't blame anyone for being disappointed, but I'm more than happy they're trying out new things, especially if it's not giving in to the Live service nightmare model.
People either don't know or forget that Fromsoft is currently working on 3 projects simultaneously. I'm guessing this is one of them. Maybe, next year we'll get to see one of the other too, which I'm sure it's being directed by Miyazaki.
I love Elden Ring, but I'm not a fan of co-op, so I'll be passing on this one. I'm not gonna lie. I was super hyped until I found out it's a rougue like multi player title, just not my cup of tea.
1:13 Yes. When Marika shattered the Elden Ring, two timelines were made. This is the same concept as DS3 confirming that both DS1 endings happened, thanks to item descriptions mentioning Kaathe
OH! That would be AMAZING! Would make sense too! Gwyn, after all, is the one who broke EVERYTHING in the DS World! (life, death, space, time) Like, for example, a Prime Gwyn, to be one of the last Bosses you face, before you face the Nightlord! You go through the fogwall or push open the door, the screen fades, and a Theme, that many of us know WELL, starts to play! If THAT happens, we would be like:' OMFG!!!!" "We are about to get our asses KICKED, BUT, it'll be AWESOME!" Hmm, I wonder what the "Malenia" of this Game will be? Seeing Slave Knight Gael or the Soul of CInder again would be cool too!
I was really disappointed after reading the interview for the first time, but after calming down and watching your video, I started to feel hopeful again. Thanks, bro!
I feel like my only complain is about the game not having the option of only solo or 3 players but not 2. Hopefully they add that option in the future.
I just can’t wait to see the remake of artorias, Pontiff Sulyvahn, manus, Gael the slave knight, Solaire of Astora, the fire keeper and every from software NPC and bosses in the game.
Junya Ishizaki, the new director, was the battle director on Elden Ring. I think Nightreign, as a spinoff, is meant to be a way to experiment with new kinds of combat. While they have a solid foundation(they spawned a new genre!), combat in Fromsoft's games was in danger of becoming a bit stale. Bloodborne and Sekiro were quite different, but from Demon's Souls through Dark Souls and up to Elden Ring, combat changed incrementally, in tiny steps. I think it's great that even when they're arguably the best in the industry at the moment, they still experiment and try out new things. Even if it's just mashing other genres intro their combat. Of course, it's not just about combat. I hope and do think Nightreign will be able to stand on its own with its story and characters.
ER and DS are Bandai namco published so I think that’s why DS is the only official crossover IP. However like the Dutchess, I wouldn’t be surprised to see unofficial sekiro and Bloodborne-esque enemies, but I don’t think we will see any official crossovers from them.
I think they could be, but they also could be Radahn's shadowbound beast. I think we can get some lore implications on the looser ends of the elden ring story even if it's not exactly "canon"
Pessimists gonna pess. I recall mass disappointment when we heard we were getting a linear game with no character creation, no stat leveling and no multiplayer. Then Sekiro blew everyone's mind and got GOTY.
Now, that I understand what Nightreign actually IS, I can't WAIT to play this! I NEVER played "rogue-like" games before, like Hades, and from the kindness of another ER YT'er (JackOfAllGame), who explained wtf "rogue-like" even meant! Because of him, I was like:' OH! I get it now!" I've actually been wanting a "faster way" of playing, since I have been using my Non-Modded NG+7 Vergil Build for months, let's just say, I hope one of the other classes has a Katana, and, can be used by, for example, The Recluse (Mage?)! Fingers crossed for the return of Darkeater Midir! (one of the F-ING COOLEST Dragonfights in History!) HOLY S%#@! If I heard right, ACTUAL Bloodborne Bosses too! OOOH! Since the whole "Night" thing is SO important this time, I wouldn't be surprised if I see the Moon Prescene again, possibly part of the Final Boss! From what I understand, thank goodness, NG+ WILL be a thing! I'm wondering, using the new Mage Character as a example, can that Class learn skills and abilities of the other ones, just the magical version of them? I'm also hoping, either from Boss Drops, or other means, whatever Class you pick, you can obtain the armor or "drip", from the other Classes! Some of them look COOL AF!
Extremely hyped, they really need to make it playable with only 2 people tho. Just seems kinda awkward to have only 1 or only 3, I imagine given enough feedback they'll change it for the full release hopefully 🤞
The codex is the new way to telling the story of the next fromsoft game it make sense to test it on this DLC than on a standalone game to see how players will react
One other thing I need to say is this feels like a celebration of FS while also being a side project to test out new mechanics they don’t want to risk putting into the main line games without knowing how they will impact the gameplay flow I’ve wanted a boss rush mode and if this is their answer to that, I’m all for it.
@square-table-gaming well from what you've been saying here I'm all in lol. I think this will be a pro and a con for newcomers tho. Con would be new souls players that will be introduced with this title may be disappointed when they go to try one of the other titles and it only has some of the mechanics or enemies they liked. Idk I'm newish so I'd say a pro would be if I started at this title I'd try to find out which game my favorite hero mechanic is or even where a boss originally came from.
Honestly i am scratching my head, but from what I gather this is kinda an "in-between game" for the devs to get a grip on the souls, blood, senior, elden series. Its different, but that doesn't mean it's bad or anything. I like the idea of trying new stuff and fromsoft has proven even if they reuse stuff their games are good.
to me Elden Ring Nightreign story about ranni win the shattering with the help of the Nox and the Night lord It's ranni consort in this timeline but I have a question to you if this version of ranni win what about the original in why she fail, and of course without counting the tarnished.
I honestly dont know how to feel. Im extremely skeptical. This feels less like a full game and more like a way to experiment with new movement and boss ideas What has me most worried is that we waited much longer for fromsoft projects and they were always worth the wait. That said I had a lot of fun with God of War Ragnarok's roguelike
Commenting before watching I think all realities are bleeding into each other. My theory on what caused this is all the successes over time slowly tearing apart reality DS1, DS2, DS3, The shattering and 1 other event I will touch on in a moment. I think all these over a long period of time started tearing everything apart And I think that godwyne being the first Demi god killed by the rune of death along with the shattering is what caused this collapse. I think there is a chance that godwyne could be the tier 8 night lord and his death at the hands of the rune of death is what cause him to gain this type of power Crackpot theory but I think it’s a cool one. This non canon spin off would allow for godwyne to actually be a boss unlike in ER
I highly doubt there will be anything from sekiro or bloodborne, the former is published by activision so its iffy and we know all too well that sony would rather bury bloodborne
Fair, but it is not a battle Royale. The only aspect of that genre they're using is the encroaching darkness. The game would be much better described as a rogue-like. Closer to Hades or Dead Cells

The Recluse class is the mage in the purple screenshot according to Vaati.
It definitely is, but unfortunately we didnt get to see them in action
I’m crossing fingers it’s our tarnish, whoever the night lord is.
My theory is that Neightrayne is just Patches fan fiction.
*Patches scribbling away in his cave*
“And then Tanith and I kissed.”
Imagine Patches being the final boss.
Seeing one of the characters using the Sekiro parry got my attention. And the Nameless King made an appearance. Pretty much the only thing I needed.
I feel like my only complain is about the game not having the option of only solo or 3 players but not 2. Hopefully they add that option in the future.
2 videos in 2 days? STG thank you for the early Christmas
Crack theory the Firekeeper in the trailer is Marika
She appears to be the Duchess. Both of them have the same mask, the same hairstyle, and the same boots.
I hope there's an Ancient Dragon Cult character or atleast a way to use those incantations/skills
A whole character would be fitting. On the third day you could transform into dragon skin and lose ability to wear armor
