- Welcome to the Gold Coast of New Zealand, a beautiful region that feels different from the rest of New Zealand. It's a mini paradise where everyone should visit! we ventured from Marahau Shelter carpark to Anchorage Hut, which was around 24km return and took nearly the whole day to complete.

I'm on auto pilot looking for Glen and Mado every 2-3 days :-) My favourite channel of youtube. Keeping it authentic and just doing you 👍🏻💯
My favourite channel too! ❤
Awh guys yous are amazing ❤️
Love your videos! NZ Tourism should be paying you two for the magnificent work you're doing showcasing our beautiful country!
Haha I wish but we love to show you guys what we get up too🙂🙌
New Zealand the land of no dangerous wildlife...but Glen gets attacked by a very inhospitable weka!! I almost choked on my tea!! 🍵😂
Hahahah it always happens to me 😂😂😂
They are basically Dinosaur’s you know 😂
Thanks for sharing your journey it's a shame its experience to get to stewart island but you would really like it there
Beautiful place to kayak.🎉
Working out the maths: You only staying 10 months. So you about 6 months done already. You sure are doing a great job making your videos of NZ, Always a pleasure to watch your exploring, experience and exciting times. Thank you for going the Extra mile. Regards 🇿🇦.
Hey John it’s actually nearly 10months now since we arrived 😂 hope you’re enjoying the journey my friend! 🙂
@@GlenAndMadooh no! I don’t want you to leave…
As a Kiwi, great to see you made it here, as think this is the best place in New Zealand.
My Home patch, definitely check out Golden Bay
Hola Glen & Mado, you say you are tired after that walk. I will need two days total rest after watching that. Well Done
I’m glad you felt our tiredness and it rubbed off on you Richard so you knew how it felt 😂
Absolutely fantastic post...thanks.
The weka was being a gobshyt.😂 he was ready too maul yr hand. Glad yr enjoying this awesome little gift called New Zealand. 🤝🏽👍🍀
Upset that there wasn't any food on offer, lol
Hahah thanks Ian he was definitely been a gobshyt😂😂 we’re enjoying every moment don’t worry about that 😃
😂😂 he thought I was food
Nelson is my favourite place to visit in NZ - it just feels like a different country (like you said). That's the beauty of Aotearoa ❤ And wow! You saw a Black Robin!!!
It was a South Island Robin. Not sure why the ranger would tell them it was a black robin (if that's what Glen said). Still very cute though
Thank you guys! I'm totally exhausted myself after watching you do that trek!! Good grief! That area really is paradise. Absolutely stunning. That weka trying to take a piece of you! I think they also had chicks somewhere and were just in protection mode. Such cute little weka chicks towards the end and am so pleased that you did get to see one of the different robin family. Special little birds, just like the fantail. Keep on keeping on! 😊👍🌟🌟🚶♂️🚶♀️🏋️♂️🏋️♀️💪💪🤳🤳 🙌 👏 🙋🏼♀️ 🚐
Ohh you need to get yourself onto it, definitely worth it Lesley 😂 them whakas were everywhere! Lovely little birds!
Your cinematography is pretty impressive, but honestly it is way better in real life ! Able Tasman is the most incredible place on earth. I go there as much as I can. It has the most incredible feel and it’s breath taking! A lot of people miss the top of the South Island but as a south Islander the top of the South Island is the best! ❤
Beautiful adventure ... thanks for sharing!
Love you guys! Abel Tasman is my favourite place in NZ! My husband is a Kiwi so been very lucky to visit it a few times over the years! Love your videos! Xx
😮 How time has gone fast, i remember when you just arrived in Auckland at night time, and now it looks like nearly the end of your adventure.Thank you for taking us on your journey through NZ, and hope you have many a good memories of the land of the long white cloud. Wishing you safe travels ✈️ Home 🏡
I'm so pleased you discovered one of my favorite kiwi places
We are very lucky to experience it!
Department of Conservation do a fantastic job looking after resources , maintaining the track and huts etc , ATNP is so beautiful , spent many a pleasurable few days swimming , watch out for the paddle crabs , vicious if they get hold of you !
Must of been the millions of crabs we seen on the beach when the tide went out 😂
@@GlenAndMado No , paddle crabs are about the size of your hand , big claws which can take off a persons finger , thumb or toe , they swim up from the sea bed and have a crack at you , very dangerous , bright orange in colour , you will know one when you see it !
Yes they do ! ❤
Nau mai, haere mai ki te Tai Gold Coast o Aotearoa, he rohe ataahua e rere ke ana ki nga whenua katoa o Aotearoa. He pararaiha paku nei me toro atu te katoa! I haere mai matou i te waahi waka o Marahau Shelter ki Anchorage Hut, tata ki te 24km te hokinga mai, tata ki te ra katoa ki te whakaoti.🇳🇿❤
Glooming
Originally used in Scottish dialects of English, the word traces back to the Old English glōm, meaning “twilight,” which shares an ancestor with the Old English glōwan, meaning “to glow.” In the early 1800s, English speakers looked to Scotland again and borrowed the now-archaic verb gloam, meaning “to become dusk” or “to grow dark.”
I love the ways the greens come out at Gloming under NZ light.
Glen: "Madeleine got me into this and I didn't really want to participate in such a long walk ....but here we are"
Mado: *"Because I know Glenn doesn't want to pay fifty dollars for a water taxi"*
I always love your quick and amusing replies Mado - you two are like an old married couple 😉😁Also, Glen being attacked by the Weka made me laugh out loud ....what a bad bird!
😂😂😂 we don’t mean to be funny at all, really we don’t 😂😂👀
Abel tasman is lovely.
I would catch a water taxi back, im not fit lol. such a long walk. Great trip
Lots of gorgeous places like this in NZ 😊😊
It’s absolutely beautiful and took forever to walk but worth it 😂
The walk isn’t hard. :)
Awesome video
Awesome vlog as always
Reckon that Weka knows both All Blacks Hakas, Kamate & Kapa O Pango inside out !
Lyrics and actions ! :)

🇳🇿
😂😂😂
Watching this scenic video and just saw that bird bite you Glen.
Got a nice nip! 😂
Welcome to our backyard.
If you can, you should try to find a New Zealand cicada (they are perfectly harmless insects) you can gently pick one up. They are very fascinating: they live underground for over three years before emerging as a winged adult and then they only live for a few weeks.
15-19 years they live underground apparently, last year they were intense but not so noticeable this year
Damn that’s such an insane fact! Thank you 🙏
My home Tasman
You’re lucky Darren!
A water taxi trip is worth every cent - commentary & visiting other locations. Congrats tho on completing the walk.
Haha yeah we took it the hard way 😂
Weka v Fist - ' You're not food. Trot on. '
If you drill thru the earth in NZ you come out in Spain
Jesus that’s madness! Litterly the furthest you can travel then!
Hahaha didn’t know that one always wondered where you would end up!
So much nicer than the tacky “resort” town that is the Gold Coast…. there’s no comparison
New Zealand is paradise lost..
Isolated from the world and absolutely beautiful and peaceful 👀🙂
C Cade da , cicada
The black birds with the red beaks are called " Pukeco's " similar to a swamp hen .
There absolutely beautiful birds! 🦅
Pukekos
@@GlenAndMado they are actually carnivorous though Glen and attack and eat other birds chicks sadly
@@lesleyhughes3174 cheeky feckers 😂 yeah sure let nature do its thing I suppose haha
@@GlenAndMadopukeko’s are also called swamp hens. They make the most horrific awful noise at night if they are protecting their chicks.
When u go back to Nelson , call in and ask for Vaughan at the Richmond Aquatic Centre / Gym > Tell him his Dad sent you .
Unfortunately we’re back on the north island 🫣
Do you edit out your friend?
Not at all Peter she just didn’t really want to be in the videos and she sped walk ahead and we couldn’t catch up 😂
Poor Mado. Wanted to go kyacking and all Glen was worried about was letting the moths out of his wallet😂 think he's Scottish, not Irish 😂
Birds looking for food
I used to sail my yacht from Nelson to Torrent Bay and stay there for a day or two as it is a very sheltered area.
You were definitely living the good life then my friend! Not jealous at all 😂
Golden Bay not gold coast 👌
It’s similar to the Gold Coast though
@@GlenAndMado really? like the sand on the beaches you mean? No crowds here like the GC though
How much longer are you in nz for
Basically videos are about a month behind will be leaving at the end of April 🥲😩 we will be very sad to leave
A Black Robin! You have been truly blessed
Haha there absolutely beautiful! 😍
Rock graffiti is writing on rocks, not rearranging rocks, lol.
Either way it is graffiti, moving rocks and stones from their natural place and building something manmade just ruins it.
Moving rocks to make images and messages in the mud is a bit of a tradition in the Motueka area.
@@nutcrackernz Good or bad in your opinion ? for mine if it is in a national park it should be illegal
@@harrycurrie9664 illegal to move rocks??? wtf are you mental or something look at how much poison DOC dump into our national parks every year...
@@harrycurrie9664 I’d personally prefer to keep the NP pristine. it’s about respect for the wairua of the place.
Pu kek o , pukeko
Do you will never share food with your friend ? Cuz I saw that she doesn't get pizza or soup !!
she took a slice and also got some soup haha :) she doesn't really want to be in the videos.
@@GlenAndMado I never said anything but could see that and understood Glen
No you didn't see. You don't get to see every second!! You can't be a Kiwi surely, disrespecting our visitors!!
