Sadly, I have to agree. I am a retired primary school teacher. I have taught more than a thousand pupils in my time. In my long career I believe I taught at least twenty children who showed extreme psychopathic behaviour. Unfortunately the mental health industry and the law prevents any sort of identification of these traits and rather seeks to ameliorate the obvious by labelling the afflicted child as "troubled" or "immature" but "likely to grow out of their current condition." What an absolute joke! How can a person suddenly be labelled a psychopath at 16 (Australia) or 18 (UK) but be seen as simply "troubled" beforehand? In the case of the children I taught with psychopathic tendencies, EVERY ONE of them ended up before the courts because of various crimes in later life. Had they been treated when first identified the pain they caused others as they grew up would have been prevented.
I hate to write this but human beings are no different to many other higher-order mammals. Some humans are just born bad with terrible temperaments. Dog breeders will tell you that you occasionally get a dog that is so dangerous in temperament that it has to be put down. Human children are no different. As a society we cannot deal with this truth so we have a whole industry of counselling and juvenile justice intended to steer these kids straight. Sometimes it works, often it doesn't. So what do we do? Do we label these kids early and keep an eye on them as they mature? Do we isolate them? I don't know what the answer is but we need to find an answer as every day there are more kids just like the young man in this story...walking time bombs.

    • @moxie7896
      @moxie7896 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

@tripsadelica In America these types of kids are often diagnosed with “conduct disorder” which is essentially a euphemism for psychopathy. They don’t want to label a kid a psychopath because of the stigma that comes with the diagnosis. I agree with you, some people are unfortunately born this way and it’s very unlikely they’ll change.

@@moxie7896 Yes, so true, or "Oppositional Defiance Disorder" or ADD/ADHD. I know that in a democratic society this wouldn't go down well but it is my sincere belief that these kids should be identified early and that tabs be kept on them and the moment they act out they can be pounced on. One of the kids I taught was an extreme sociopath and would have killed you soon as look at you. He ended up in prison because he attempted to rob an armoured car, FHS!

I left teaching public school after 13 years. People have no idea the threats we face and the risk we take walking into classrooms every day. We run lockdown drills, active shooter drills, bomb threats, fire alarms, how to instantly lock your doors, install and drop a curtain on your door, what to do if your room is breached, but no one tells you what to do, especially when the kids start to get bigger than you, how to handle when they become aggressive and make threats and refuse to follow directions.

I see and converse with my HS teacher from 30 years ago, I would say he's only in his late 50's now so still in teaching and hes told me how different it is now and although I remember him being somewhat of a relaxed teacher, he was respected by everyone. He said now he doesn't even bother trying anymore, he can't do anything about anything because of all the red tape he has to adhere to. He just lets the kids play on their phones and misbehave in class because it's not worth trying to resolve it...it could cost him his whole career. He said he had passion when he started teaching and wanted to make a difference but now he couldn't care less. What a sad state of affairs the world has gotten to.

"If only there were signs." Jesus, I hope these people don't miss traffic signs like they missed all of that.

Psychopaths can be very manipulative. They know who they can con into believing whatever they tell them. He told his peers about his intentions because he knew that they would be fearful of him. He let sufficient time elapse between his social media posts & when he actually did this violent act. So the friends & students believed that it was all a sick joke. He had never been a discipline problem at school & he got along with his siblings too. He also was a very good student because he took his grade level tests a year earlier than everyone else. Having a high I.Q., being a psychopath & narsassit, makes for a very dangerous criminal. This young teen even bragged to one friend that he was going to claim to all the authorities that he'd heard voices commanding him to kill the teacher. He attempted to pull that off but the prior claim was exposed. Being a psychopath isn't a crime until they literally commit a crime!

Remember that a couple of years went by between the killers statements to friends on FB & when he actually carried out the murder. As I went by, he knew that everyone that he told would have thought, yea it was just an idle brag nothing to it. Also if they'd gone to the police or authorities at the school, since this male student had NO PRIOR violence, they all would have not had a legal reason to arrrest or do anything but QUESTION him. This killer is intelligent enough to talk his way out of showing any plan & he would have said that he was only fronting & it wasn't serious. Remember he said that if caught he would say that he heard voices telling him to kill her. This psychopath is proof that he also had an inflated sence of himself that NONE OF THE RULES APPLIED TO HIM. He shouldn't have to turn in homework, they had no right to deny him the field trip & that because this teacher did all of these things, then SHE had to be penalized for taking these actions. My mother was a teacher at a high school in Essex and had a knife pulled on her by a pupil back in 2006. A gym teacher (thankfully) happened to be passing and rugby tackled the *girl* threatening my mother and although the girl was excluded, the PE teacher was also fired as the girls parents claimed should not have "put his hands on their daughter"! My mother could have been the subject of this documentary if it weren't for that man.
I am also a teacher. I taught in a north London school for 2 years and knives were something we were constantly vigilant of. I ended up taking a teaching position at a school in Spain because of the limitations teachers have to protect themselves in the UK. I now own my own school and I am much safer and happier for it.
The UK has to bring in much more legislation to tackle knife crime and provide much better social funding to areas where it is rampant in order to cut it off at the start.

Yes, I hear what you are saying about knife crime. It must put so much pressure on the teacher. Knives can be hidden so well. Over to USA, the land of the free. American children can get their hands on AK 17 rifles. We all know the extent of school shootings.

I was going to make a comment about something else but I suddenly made a shocking realisation about my own high school experience which may be linked to this case. Around the time this happened, (2014ish) our school (a high school located in Eastern England) implemented a new policy of checking students' bags every morning. We were never really told why this was a new policy so a lot of students made a huge stink about things and yelled about privacy and whatnot, especially because nobody would tell us what the whole thing was about. I was one of those kids, but I never said anything to a teacher's face and let them check my bag every day, and then I'd vent to my friends at lunchtime how I thought it was completely unfair and absolutely humiliating that middle aged women could go through my bag and look through my stuff... which often involved a change of clothes and feminine hygiene products (as I am a girl who also had female friends who couldn't always afford their own pads/tampons, and I would quite often have some sort of sports thing straight after school so needed something to change into). I left high school in 2017 and tbh I forgot about the bag checking as it really wasn't that big a deal at the end of the day, and the policy was ruled out a while later. Teachers would only check bags if they had a reason to check them afterwards, which the students were happier with, and I think the most they ever found was some booze that some girl had swiped from her parents, cigarettes and vape pens and maybe a Swiss army knife that some kid had forgotten in their bag after they went camping over half term, which they happily handed over to staff to keep for the school day when asked as it was a genuine mistake on their behalf.
I'm now 21 and in university. Only today, watching this documentary about something I didn't even know had happened, I have come to the horrible realisation that there was a really good reason why that policy was implemented. It does seem to match up time-wise with this case and would make total sense that teachers would be on high alert. My high school was pretty rough and students physically fought with and mouthed off to teachers and each other on the daily, but I can't remember a single time where anyone might have said that they'd kill someone, even as a joke, but at the end of the day, what do I know what my classmates were thinking.

I dont feel the psychologists on this case had the faintest idea what they were doing. a lot of generalised observations. The profile they tried to create was based on common assumption. Im sure, had they a little more expertise they would have explored other angles right from the start. I do not sympathise with a murderer, but I do believe there is some very deep reason behind what he did. Phsycopath, ya, but perhaps the way his life going as well, possibly being ignored at times. Not being taken seriously when he felt anger or pain. For a child being that ignored can manifest some deep issues. The clearest signs of this internalised trauma is the fact that he warned so far ahead of his hatred for the teacher and yet no one took it seriously. His entire personality is associated with this inferiorating treatment. Perhaps even as a younger child he went through emotions and deep feelings but the very people around him ignored him. A gross failure of recognising a boy's feelings from a young age. Unfortunately, in his case it manifested deeper. That, combined with possible genetic traits, made a lethal combination. Perhaps he suffered some abuse as a younger child by hands of an adult (possibly a female adult) and just never knew how to emotionally express it, probably due to upbringing norms (boys don't cry kinda element... was a Catholic environment afterall...). What upsets me most by the psychologists who analysid him is that they simply gone text book and not willing to go anyway beyond that. This simply is not a text book case (a.k.a. being the first of its kind in the UK). Him wanting to go to military (before diabetes diagnostic) is also a sign of need to be in power, probably due to past disempowerment complex. The diabetes disempowered him even more. Peoples' reactions to him killing is also dissapointing. Some saying "there is no excuse" or "psychological issues doesn't matter" etc. That just goes to show how blatently people ignore his deeper issues. Our deepest need in life is to be recognised. He had to achieve that by an extreme measure. Possibly because he has been ignored as a child by - extreme measures. What should happen here is, a well trained expert without any text book or pre-intentions must go and sit down with this young man and work with him to understand his deeper pains from baby times. Perhaps he even needs to be held at times. This might already be slightly late given that six years have passed since the incident, but not impossible to stil try. But, he will need to remain in jail. He's not suitable for normal society, regardless. People must stop trying to assume common traumas are everyone's trauma.

In Asia, teachers are revered almost like a saint, regarded more than a friend, but feared almost like the fiercest warrior.
In the Western world, teachers are just ordinary people and everyone's equal.

Same here in the pacific..we respect teachers sometimes more than parents... we do not talk back to them or anything. Also if our parents find out we did something wrong at school oooohhh u gonna get it at home. These kids seem to not respect or fear anyone.

Kids scare me nowadays. Not only do some of them have to deal with dysfunction (sexual or physical abuse, parental drug/alcohol abuse and/ no on cares or helicopter parents) in the household, they also have the ever- lasting bullying at school from peers AND teachers (always been happening). They now have extreme social standards to keep up. I will not be surprised if the number of child killers goes up. And ppl.....report this crap if you see something and think something may be wrong. And if your wrong an apology is easier to be responsible for then someones death.

Well, what would have happened if someone had talked about his intentions to kill his teacher? Nothing can be done! Children nowadays r untouchable.
The school would suffer retaliation if they had called the police coz a student was caring knifes and said to other students he wanted to kill his teacher. Probably the school would b acussed of repressing and embarrassing a poor student.
I was attacked by one mine students many years ago. Nothing was done! The student was not even suspended. I never stepped inside of a classroom after that. I realized I was alone, and I didn't want to wait to see what else that student could have done against me.

I also feel bad for the kids who saw that period they are just sitting in class, another normal day and all of a sudden their teacher gets stabbed right in front of them. I'm curious as to what their reactions were. Nobody got up to try to stop him? Maybe they were in shock as to what was happening or in fear fear. Maybe a little bit of both both?

@@kyleholmes7317 what's wrong with you, edgelord? Even if there are cases where teachers are found guilty of misconduct, the killer is still a young man. Saying that she deserved it is just outright misplaced blame, as all the fault points to the perpetrator.
