I just happened to catch another vid of Rick talking about this brand. All I care to say here is you need to see it. He mentioned the baits with "red beads" specifically. You may find the info helpful. Thanks for all the fishing info you put up. It is most appreciated.
Randy,David Dudley has a video showing no vibration on slack line when he closes a book on slack braid, however fluorocarbon did have vibration on slack line. Great argument to point out for those guys still using braid to flourocarbon..
I was thinking this was Rick Clunn's answer to the extinct Fleck Weed Wader spinnerbait that came with big Indiana blades . Clunn used to clamp a rubber core lead weight to the hook shaft on those old baits to stabilize the blade torque . With this new bait the hidden weight head has the same effect . Lunker City (sluggo) bought the rights to the Weed Wader spinnerbaits and started selling them again like 15-20 years ago and I never bought any . I am still kicking myself that I never bought any and now they are gone again.
Agree with Arciefan. Covert Booyah and Trickster. Been 40 years since I had a Hawg Caller didnt realize they were Hank Parker Classic were the predecessor. Randy is right there is a time and place. Big fish baits
Spinnerbait on a windy day! Catch em' all day long. 3/4 oz White head and skirt. Double williow blades and white paddle tail trailer. Make sure you put the trailer on straight. Or it will tumble. Do a comparison between a Spinnerbait and Chatterbait. The spinnerbait will hold it's own! Shawn.
LUCK E STRIKE put on a brand specific tournament and I fished the trickster 2 I believe CLUNNS design?? it’s in a vibrating jig form but with a rubber blade and square swing head very different and it caught them! Try it out!!
Hey Randy. One of my favorites. Real good around the shad spawn 2 foot of visibility and less. Smashed 20 pound bags on Potomac and Chesapeake near me. Good in Ticonderoga also. Also good for smallmouth burning it in ultra clear water with wind. I never use a trailer. I of course do use a trailer hook. It's sold out alot so trust me people are catch with it.
Three spinnerbaits I'm a big fan of. Booyah covert, Hawg caller which is the predecessor to the Classic spinnerbait I think, and the Trickster from Lucky strike. Any of the three I want either stained or dirty water with plenty of cover, either wood or aquatic. I'll take my chances with either of those three in those situations , and also I'm looking for some cloud cover and some wind.
I've fished that lure a fair amount. Seems like the best application for it is wood. letting it helicopter similar to a short arm and crawling it through cover. I do not seem to get as many bites fishing horizontally. I have always been a fan of Stanley vibra shaft spinnerbaits for horizontal. Just my 2 cents.
Same. I never had much luck just swimming it. My favorite spinner bait is still a Hank Park classic. I use it on the southern end of Champlain. Still works awesome.
That bait in the hands of someone that knows how to use it is practically unbeatable when the time is right! But you better start tourney morning with a new one. The wire will break because of vibration somewhere around 15 hours. And I don’t believe lucky strike is making them anymore. Not on there website last I looked.
I stopped for drinks and snacks at a small gas station before heading out on the water and seen a tiny rack of fishing tackle and these spinner baits were there and I bought one and been loving them every since
I’ve had really good luck taking the blades off the 3/4 oz trickster and putting them on Hank Parker’s Classic 3/4 oz spinnerbait, I’ve also had luck doing this with the 3/8 oz. models too. Try that and tell me what you think afterwards.
Just watched an interview with Rick and your buddy Jonny the other day and Rick talked a little about his success with it and if I recall correctly he talk about burning the bait quite a bit and waking it around cover.
Jimmy Houston kicks up in your door and starts laughing kisses the spinnerbait and then leaves Jimmy Houston is probably the greatest spinnerbait fisherman I know I used to fidget spinner all the time when I trout fished maps number three or two no feathers
Yes they are good blades, and catch good fish. Anybody sayin they ain't no good, ain't ever fished with em much, OR simply don't know how to fish a blade!!!!!
I have some old Gary klien spinnerbaits , The blades are real skinny and the wind almost like a snake , they are designed for fishing around heavy cover and they catch gaints . I have had some success with the trickster but only fishing rivers .
I had a white 3/4 oz one and went out never got any strikes on it. Then threw it and had a weak spot in the line and it snapped off flying in the lake. Never bought another.
My main complaint with that bait is the cheesy split rings they put on it. I've had them open up into a figure 8 just from getting a backlash on a hard cast. Overall it's a nice bait and I've caught plenty of fish on it in the white Shad pattern version but they really need to beef up those mickey mouse split rings!
Someone mentioned rivers. And someone mentioned the northern Great Lakes. It screams current and colder, northern type of water to me. In that kind of water, often weight helps (less like in the southern environments, in which thinner wire lures that don't last as long, are often prized instead). Basically, everything in that northern environment is designed for speed and efficiency of movement. And this out-of-line spinner lure. Says all of that to me. There is a certain kind of fish. That would swim in those northern places. For which this kind of lure, would say the right things. And send the right message. However, if the personality of the fish is not evolved and bred in that way. The lure in warmer, southern climates. Won't make any sense, to any fish. I don't know how Rick Clunn would have retrieved something like this. However, I think Rick and other older anglers. Were not against using baits and lures. In such a way. Where moving them at speed, was part of it. This is a kind of lure that is geared up for speed (or for staying in balance when faced with water current). You can be sure, that because the wire is that thick. It was intended to be fished on some heavy, more robust kind of line too. Possibly some kind of braid line. Or a heavy monofilament. You'll need a line that is more robust. In order to make it move.
That color too, is like something that might work. In one of those darker, colored water places (or clear water against a dark, mud or silt river bottom). Somewhere like Mississippi river upper regions. If you look at that lure though, and compare it to something. Such as a Musky lure. There's a lot about this lure called the Trickster. That the Musky or Pike angler might like (and in those northern places too, it might be a thing of fishing around Pike and so on). To try and lure the large bass in those areas. To come out and take the bait. It's not like the spinner bait that anglers in the south would know or understand. Where it's about throwing a lighter spinner bait (or Alabama rig type of deal). In amongst a group of fish that are all bass. This strikes me as a lure too. That is very like something a Pike angler might use.
That's cool that you are coming out with a Spinnerbait, hopefully the skirt is living rubber and you have some smaller sizes. When are you going to present to us your new jig color? Just curious and as always thanks for a great video!!
Randy I find that over the years that if you have confidence in your bait that you will catch fish My fishing partner and I will be using the same bait sometime s and one will catch fish and the other won’t
Bass don't eat spinnerbaits, LOL is the first thing I say when somebody brings up that topic. Or when they say I was fishing a spinner bait, I say well then I know you didn't catch anything. For 30 years I've watched people catch fish with spinner baits, I just can't. For whatever reason they do not work for me therefore I have abandoned ship long ago
Rick calls it a Long-drop blade....if anyone knows how to catch fish on it please tell us I've owned um since they came out forever ago. Is the Old School spinnerbait gunna have a living rubber skirt ? I'm all in !
I’m looking forward to your spinnerbait coming out , I love spinnerbaits , please if possible can you make some 1/4 oz , our water here is not that deep , like reservoirs, but if you can’t no problem just a thought , I love thin wire too
All spinnerbaits do the same thing, except mine. Mine catches stripers and bass and everything in between. Wanna run your V9 against mine? Anytime easy money. I can assure you. Uncle Neng had to use the cellphone flashlight to take a closer look. We is not playing in this game. Been calling the Living Legend Damian Thao out spinnerbaits for stripers. I will make easy work of him. You can believe me. Oh how I wish these pros would follow through on their nameshake/titles. I will show the world how easy it is to remove these clowns. For far too long, I have let these clowns make a mockery of fishing.
Trust me he has nothing but respect for Clunn...He stated the same thing I've learned. The 3/4 oz. baiit looks like it's gunna catch every big fish in the lake. We know Clunns cought beasts on it and won with it more than once. He's saying the exact thing I'm saying. After 30yrs of experimenting....all I can tell u to me its an enigma......
I just happened to catch another vid of Rick talking about this brand. All I care to say here is you need to see it. He mentioned the baits with "red beads" specifically. You may find the info helpful. Thanks for all the fishing info you put up. It is most appreciated.
I heard Rick Clunn say that they had to use a bigger wire on it because the torque of the blade would eventually break a lighter wire.
Randy,David Dudley has a video showing no vibration on slack line when he closes a book on slack braid, however fluorocarbon did have vibration on slack line. Great argument to point out for those guys still using braid to flourocarbon..
I used a Spider spinner of Rick Clunn looks like this bait I used it at Lake Fork back in the early 90's

Have you fished with the Manns Hank Parker spinnerbaits Randy??
How's that Blauket Old School Spiinerbait coming?
What is the trailer being used with this spinner bait...
I haven't done very well with spinner baits to top. water where I live
Agree with Arciefan. Covert Booyah and Trickster. Been 40 years since I had a Hawg Caller didnt realize they were Hank Parker Classic were the predecessor.
Randy is right there is a time and place. Big fish baits
I got sick of my coverts that cant run straight. These run straight
He’s won some elite series events? Isn’t he a 4 time classic winner?
I appreciate the fair assessment on a lure not from one of your sponsors. Thank you

You sound like some rookie

I do not seem to get as many bites fishing horizontally. I have always been a fan of Stanley vibra shaft spinnerbaits for horizontal. Just my 2 cents.
That makes sense if it is indeed called the Long Drop Blade. Maybe it helicopters on the fall as it drops. Like to hear what Rick says about it.
Same. I never had much luck just swimming it. My favorite spinner bait is still a Hank Park classic. I use it on the southern end of Champlain. Still works awesome.

I love it in the spawn fishing the St John's. Especially on them overcast windy days
I stopped for drinks and snacks at a small gas station before heading out on the water and seen a tiny rack of fishing tackle and these spinner baits were there and I bought one and been loving them every since
Good morning your timing is off it will catch um
Tail up on that Dead Ringer....
I’ve had really good luck taking the blades off the 3/4 oz trickster and putting them on Hank Parker’s Classic 3/4 oz spinnerbait, I’ve also had luck doing this with the 3/8 oz. models too. Try that and tell me what you think afterwards.
TOURNAMENT FISHING IS A SUCKERS GAME YALL MAKE ALL TACKLE TRIPLE IN PRICE BEST SPINNER BAIT ````````````````````````strike king 1 dollar 50 cents
Nothing is a $1.50 anymore. Sorry
That's my go to spinnerbait for saginaw bay/lake huron. I absolutely love it
Anybody remember the old bush hog spinner baits they used to be my favorite
I bought 6 of them last week at a local shop close to me. Only place i've seen them in years. Can still find em online though.
Just watched an interview with Rick and your buddy Jonny the other day and Rick talked a little about his success with it and if I recall correctly he talk about burning the bait quite a bit and waking it around cover.
Love that bait, done well in NorCal lakes. Good dirty water and heavy wind bait. Love the thump of the blades, slow rolled.
Jimmy Houston kicks up in your door and starts laughing kisses the spinnerbait and then leaves Jimmy Houston is probably the greatest spinnerbait fisherman I know I used to fidget spinner all the time when I trout fished maps number three or two no feathers
I've caught a many of fish with these but the quality is very poor. Had blades come off after a fish or 2 hard to tune. But that blade is $
When it comes to spinner baits I throw what Jimmy Houston throws. it’s works for me since I was nine years old I’m 43 now
I was fishing one today. But I'm not shy about bending the wires to satisfy my needs & desired effect. And I swap blades back and forth to.
I'll be adding some to my arsenal 🎣
Yes they are good blades, and catch good fish. Anybody sayin they ain't no good, ain't ever fished with em much, OR simply don't know how to fish a blade!!!!!
or a mouthpiece for their sponsor
Don’t tell everybody lol. These never work.
It's named after Rick Clunn, that in itself is a serious endorsement!!!
I'm betting that the key is fishing it the way Rick fishes it.
I own several and some of those old Hornet spinner baits by Ed Chambers. And those good old fleck spinner baits
Randy, is there a time when you fish a spinnerbait or jig without a trailor or do yoh always put one on?
I have some old Gary klien spinnerbaits , The blades are real skinny and the wind almost like a snake , they are designed for fishing around heavy cover and they catch gaints . I have had some success with the trickster but only fishing rivers .
Are you still not used your electorate. I hoping more do the same
Not a big fan of it either. Don’t see any Elite anglers using it other than Clunn.
I had a white 3/4 oz one and went out never got any strikes on it. Then threw it and had a weak spot in the line and it snapped off flying in the lake. Never bought another.
Not sure what the message was here. Really confused by this one. Thanks for putting it out there tho
I believe I have one of these and actually never thrown it. May try it tomorrow 👊
If it says Rick Clunn it's gold.
Hey Randy have you ever thrown any of Picasso's Lures?

Have you watched Rick Clunn's retrieve on the bait? That easily could be the difference.
It's a off colored,muddy water spinner
Bait.
The quality of those baits is subpar: I have had the blades break off after a few casts.
I’m looking forward to your spinnerbait coming out , I love spinnerbaits , please if possible can you make some 1/4 oz , our water here is not that deep , like reservoirs, but if you can’t no problem just a thought , I love thin wire too
I think a lot of it is in your head. I love that rig my self
Interesting blade design. Have you every removed that blade and put it on a different spinnerbait just to see how it performs?
Yes, see comment above
All spinnerbaits do the same thing, except mine. Mine catches stripers and bass and everything in between. Wanna run your V9 against mine? Anytime easy money. I can assure you. Aren’t you related to Rick Clunn? Why not ask him how to be more productive with it?
Please make a fair assessment of some megabass junk.

Someone's gonna tell Clunn you've been bad-mouthing his spinnerbait. But it won't be me.
I didn’t bad mouth it at all
@@randyblaukatintuitive True that. But someone's gonna tell him you did!
