Nice to be able to swivel round and have a look at things. I even found myself helping with the looking during turns etc - great vid, any more like it planned? Cheers.
We've been shooting a lot of material with these cameras, and at this stage we're expecting to be releasing at least one 360° video every couple of weeks for the foreseeable future, so yes, lots more to come! ;-)
@@HistAvFilmUnit Great spot. I'm in Auckland close to Ardmore. I wonder if that's Kinleith Mill or the Wairaeki Power Station I can see in the footage.
Beautiful. My Dad crewed as bombardier for a couple of years on a *PB2Y Coronado,* after serving as an Aviation Chief Ordnanceman's Mate on the Hornet CV-8 from just before Pearl Harbor until the day she was sunk. Thanks for sharing this. I would love to know where you were flying. Seemed like West Coast in early spring, but I didn't recognize the geography at all.
@@HistAvFilmUnit Such a Gorgeous country! I know you get a lot of earthquakes, seemingly more than I experienced in my sixteen years in California - five years as kid then thirty years later working in "Silicon Valley" [which just means the tech industry near San Francisco Bay...] I bet you carry disaster kits in your aircraft!
Surprised to hear about another PB2Y crewman! My father was Radioman, Gunner; later learned to fly them, and PBY's. San Diego to Pearl, to the South Pacific and all over. Had a few stories but like many didn't talk about the war much. Went to work for Consolidated afterwords, then Convair, General Dynamics retired at Lockheed as a Chief Test Engineer.
@@trjnsd6874 Sounds like your dad might have crossed paths with Mr. Stan Mahoney. He and my Dad got to be friends and stayed in touch for decades after the war. Stan wrote his autobiography "I'm in Aviation Now!" and self-published the thing. Really entertaining book recalling his childhood in Telluride, Colorado in the 20s, and learning to fly before the war.
Wow, how bloody good is that. Well done.

@@HistAvFilmUnit Great news, thanks Allan.
Man that’s cool Mate 🇺🇸
These 360 vids are great. Where is the aerodrome?
This particular one is Taupo Airport, Taupo, New Zealand -- the centre of the North Island.

@@blazenicholls3590 Ah, nope. That's Lake Taupo and the surrounding area.

Lots more like this coming over the next few months -- we've been shooting a LOT of stuff in 360° format!
Amazing
Thanks
Where is this wonderful plane based out of?
New Zealand. Often New Plymouth, but sometimes Auckland (Ardmore Airport), and periodically elsewhere around the country.
Love
Y does the plane sound like actual doom
I don’t think anyone else has this capability. 🇺🇸

Gotta be careful with that choose-a-view or you'll put it in a spin and puke.
