Sure but you could give him one more bass runner. The first sign of trouble you take him out. Even a really long at bat you could take him out but to not give him a chance to go out there.
Just take him out if there's a base runner and keep them in if there's not. You know he can handle more than a hundred pitches he's done it many many times in college.n

Well, I have opposite opinion... yes, if Skenes throw two more innings, he MIGHT get his first no-hitter already. But does one really need a no-hitter game to validate how good he is?!? Too many injuries so far for pitchers this season already, and I don't see the point of a no hitter game. Yes, if this is a world series, one should not pull him out at that point, because it is still 1 run game (not because of no hitter). But, for a game in July?!? come on!

Pitch count has nothing to do with it.
One in seven major league pitchers have had TJ surgery at some point in their careers - and that was back in 2012. The number is surely higher now. That's despite the fact pitchers are throwing LESS pitches now than ever.

Context, his last start in 2021, he got injured. Elbow inflammation and possibly would've gotten surgery if needed. He didn't get the surgery, which was good. He didn't start throwing a baseball until the new year during the lockout. Spring training was short because of the lockout. Dave made the right move by taking him out of the game. He almost tried to get a perfect game vs. the Angels later the season.

Name me a pitcher who got injured by being kept in for a no-hitter. It's overuse across a season that causes injuries, not one game. Here are the unofficial rules for load managing players. You keep the pitcher in if he's throwing a no-hitter and you keep using your starters in the NFL as long as your team is undefeated.

Baseball is going way too corporate. The rule of the game in corporate life is, take no risks, take no chances. The modus operandi is, "copy everyone else, in literally everything." There is not an original thought in the corporate world. And, it has come to baseball. I'm not talking about "the league", I'm talking about the ownership and management in almost every club.

What exactly are you saving the pitchers for? To get pulled every game when they are pitching well so the team can lose. This is the way now- but everyone is hurt anyway! MLB just doesn't care about fans. The PA should negotiate a rule that you cannot remove a player that is pitching a no hitter unless he wants to come out. I feel sorry for a generation of fans that won't get to see a no hitter pitched. How come historically so many MLB pitchers pitched many more innings and had long careers. Now we are told that was never possible???
