The Veg omelette seems to be the true test when reviewing rations lol. Hats off to yah for venturing into the oddity of warrior food. Makes the whole respect Sparta thing more believable lmfao. Guess we can label this as fair freaking dinkum mate.
G'day yes the vomlet is that milestone ration for a reviewer, I had lots of fun with that ration, and to be honest I have had much worse components than the vomlet it self, even though it really was awful.
I had this ration gifted to me which was even more special.

You just kept going till your mouth went numb, I love it lol. Those cinnamon imperials look good to me though, I have never seen anything like them. Great review Pete, I was laughing hard at this one.
Hi Su, yes it was getting worse and worse as it went on, i ate more than was in the final edit as well, no side effects..yet.
the cinnamon imperials were really hard not the sort of thing you could bit into at all, tasted nice though.

Hey Pete. Great review. I like the Vomlet actually. For the FRH's try using a little salt and activating them before you put the pouches in. The pad needs to as much water as possible.
Hi, I dont think they would taste as bad as the one I had when fresh, I did try the salt it didn't help.

Pete great review I'd have to agree with u about the cider as far as the omlette I cant hardly beleave these where quite this bad when new but between the look and the consistency it would be hard to swallow take care pete
Yes the cider is one of my favourite drinks.
The vomlet was really terrible, I am sure it would have looked better, and hopefully tasted better too.

First time for me, those cinnamon imperials. They looked very colourful.
They looked good didn't really taste great really mild flavour.
Pete, this culinary disasterpiece was terrible when it was new! I can't imagine it aging like fine wine.
The colour alone of them mains was off putting to say the least, well done Sir.

Never had one. Never wanted one. The US FRH is usually not too effective. No coffee and no peanut butter is barbaric. Thank you for sharing.
G'day David, yes Shame it didn't have coffee but it probably would have been a tasters choice and be full of mold anyway.
Us frh is useless, I am surprised they are still supplied.

The four fingers was actually not bad and the chicken ala thing it was ok to.
But this was the worst by far.

Yes some things, Not vomlets, they were bad when fresh and and only got worse with age. This one didn't kill me so all's good so far.

About 3 months late but I wanted to chime in as having been subject to eating this mre in basic training in 2009. The biggest mistake is everyone heats thier mres up and in most cases these weren't heated. In training the heaters were taken so privates couldn't do anything nefarious with the elements and in the field it was unrealistic to actually heat them and the heaters were used for alternative things. This mre in particular without being heated truly does taste like vomit. Worst way to end a training day in a simulated field environment was being handed this mre out of the box. You basically ate your sides and not the main. Really sucked and made you eager for your morning chow hall trip.

That sounds truly barbaric to take the heaters off you and expect you to enjoy your meal, most mres are not to bad cold, but sounds like this one was worse.

Hash browns were actually quite nice, but compared to the vomlet anything was nice, no ill effects so far.

Better when it was fresh? I was in Iraq in 2009, we still got these Egg and veggie MRS, it was alright, it was healthy and we were hungry! We didn’t have time to think about what "taste good" or "appetizing"

@@pete_review Thanks! I was in the 2nd Battalion in the 7th cavalry regiment. Some actually did like the Cheese and veggie omelette. When you said it felt like glueing your mouth shut, that’s what happens when you eat a 10 year old MRE, haha!
Iwwould not feed that to a dog !!!! I would stick to the cinnamon candy and the cider
