5:44 Yeah AMD used a graphite pad from the factory for a reason, the 5700 XT has a small die with really concentrated heat in certain spots, it's brutal on thermal pastes, I've never seen another GPU like it and it's kind of a pain in the ass. If you use high quality paste with very small particle sizes, the paste will walk around on you and dry out, and that's what you saw there. Some really thick/sticky stuff like CoolerMaster MasterGel Maker (AMD's OEM paste), or liquid metal stops it from happening. I switched to Conductonaut on my 5700 XT 6 months ago and I wish I did it sooner, no more migration and TJ temps don't creep up over time.
Also, this mod has your GDDR6 at the same as my card on an EK Quantum Vector water block, I also peak at 60C while mining, so that's definitely an impressive result for a reference blower cooler. My core/TJ temps are 39C/43C on water while mining, and you're really not far off from that either. Good job and cool vid man.

Oh wow, that definitely makes sense! I really appreciate your comment and will be switching to Conductonaut immediately. Thanks for watching!

you think the copper plate would work with any aftermarket models? I have a powercolor 5700xt (the standard 2 fan - not the red dragon but closer to the fighter but has no name attached) and all the copper plates I see are 1mm and I am not confident that the cooler might not get contact at all with the heatsink due to its design. not mining in particular but I would like temps to just be better in general since my mem temps get to the upper 90s at stock in benchmarking and undervolting reduced that to the upper 80s. granted I'll be buying at ali and the plate is very cheap with free shipping so I might just go for it regardless of clearance which could just be fixed by getting very thin thermal pads. great video
