Good points on Usopp's fear, that makes sense. I think the bar that's being raised might be: who is he willing to overcome his fear for? We've known from the start that he was able to overcome his fear for the sake of his home village and his childhood friends and Kaya. Then we found out that he's willing to overcome his fear for his friends. Then we found out that he was willing to overcome his fear for the sake of his friends even after having a break up with them. But now he needs to overcome his fear for the sake of pretty much just strangers that he recklessly made a promise to. Since he doesn't know Robin is also in danger, because he forgot about her, he's really only fighting for the Tontattas and for his own pride now.
Luffy and Don Chinjao's conqueror haki clash knocked me out, but I'm back after my timeskip-slash-training-arc with stronger observation haki that allows me to make better observations in the comment section. Such as Usopp - he gets a lot of criticism for this moment especially, and your comment about how he needs to keep raising his bar is true. But while not specified anywhere, another community explanation is that at this point he has forgotten Robin, and thus also forgotten all of his character development and struggles that happened at Enies Lobby trying to save her. Which also helps with the thing where you want there to be consequences for Robin being turned into a toy. As for Kyros' backstory, Oda's gone on record saying that he didn't want to draw too many parental scenes as he wasn't one. Most of the father daughter scenes we have are mostly from the daughter's perspective like Nami, Robin and Vivi. He had his own daughter shortly before Dressrosa which is why he finally was comfortable showcasing this relationship from Kyros' point of view. Time to go kick Doffy butt
From episode 673 onwards the anime is mixing up the chapter content quite a lot so there's no one-to-one correspondence. Chapter 740 is called "It's in Your Hands!!!" referring to everyone counting on Usopp. Chapter 741 is called "Usoland the Liar". Chapter 742 is "Ever at Your Side" referring to Kyros and Rebecca and the Toy Soldier's song. I'll stop listing the manga titles now, I just figured I'd give these final three because I think they're all pretty good.
I actually relate so much on Usopp. Public speaking terrifies me that my whole body turns cold and my hands shakes so much that I refuse to hold anything because I'd get embarrassed if they noticed it, making the experience even worse. What I would do is to make myself louder, so much louder that most comments I get is that they were amazed how confident I was. But that's the thing tho, just because I did it and the people who viewed me doing it thought I was confident doesn't mean I was. Usopp's issue is he doesn't believe that he is brave. No matter how the viewers think his actions are brave enough to be called a brave person, he himself does not think that so his entire journey is more on an internal battle. That's why I'm terrified for him bec he has been planting death flags since little garden and self sacrifice could be his end, but that's just my theory
Crunchyroll's confusing grouping of episodes strikes again! xD (They could use a part 1/part 2 or something at least.) I can't remember who, but I saw another reaction channel go through the same thing with Dressrosa earlier this year. It's a great arc, but as you've probably started to see by now, the final stretch is reeeaaaaalllly stretched out. 😅
