WHY do these stoic teachers or speakers think they need a background of music? Most of that music is very annoying , some times disturbing, overbearing, and much too loud. We want to listen to the speaker, we can listen to music of our choice on our own time! THANK YOU

Every interaction we choose to participate in, is a + or a -. I guess 98-99% is a -, so its preferable to not participate in them. We can choose to decline the 98-99% ,though it reqiures a lot of focus, ressisting them.

I walked away from people and society altogether many years ago,
it was the best decision of my life,
and I have been much happier, and more importantly, content ever since.
Society is just a bunch of empty people who have such a deep need and desire to fit in, be liked, and be "trendy" that they will actually trick/train themselves to do, think, speak, behave in ways they don't actually like, just to be part of society/whichever clique they decide they want to be part of and accepted into.
The entertainment industry, meaning all of it, movies, tv shows, music, sports, etc... and social media are the most effective efficient and powerful tools used to steer society and each of its "groups"
Every time I have to be out among population it's like I'm surrounded by programmed robots,

Im going thru a separation, which may result in a divorce. It was during this time that I came across this channel, and am a relatively new subscriber. But to all who are going thru similar challenges, I say this to you; find that inner strength and stand on it. Even in the darkest parts, stand on your core values. Trust what you know. Rember that you can only control your response, you cannot control what's outside of you. Don't seek to repay hurt for hurt, but stand by your moral plumline. Its not the end of the road, just the end of a chapter in your life.

For now I am going through the same process and situation after 19 years of relationship and 15 years of marriage with 2 kids. At least I don’t feel anymore alone going through such things. 2 years ago we decided to move completely from Romania to Denmark. After 2 years of living here, danish school, kids school and tremendous physical effort, wife broke down to ask separation, pushing me away. That kinda of “thanks for all sucker” type of approach, saying that she has no more feeling for me.😮Anyway, here I try to find some inspiration and some wisdom for continuing my life journey.

Toxic people and situations should not be tolerated. You can't change them, so stop trying. Walk away.
Introspection is mandatory if one wants to have clarity of mind, heart, and spirit. As many philosophers have said in many ways - know yourself to the marrow of your being, all your faults, weaknesses, and hidden/secret places within your psyche as well as those parts of you that are positive and strong. How else will you know what needs to be addressed, healed, cut away, or changed for the better? That time alone, away from the crowd? Make it mandatory and regular. Meditation is important.
Integrity at all times in all things, and most especially with yourself. Any friend should also be a person of absolute integrity so that you have a confident and advisor.
Detachment from everyone and everything periodically is, in my estimation, a small piece of paradise available to us mere mortals if we discipline ourselves to partake of it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on toxic people and the importance of introspection and integrity. It's so true that we can't change toxic people and situations, and it's important to walk away from them. Introspection and meditation are indeed crucial for clarity of mind, heart, and spirit. Detaching from everything periodically can truly feel like a piece of paradise. Your insights are valuable and I appreciate you taking the time to share them.

Thanks for the wonderful content. I think instead of rules based solutions, one should observe from a distance just to know the truth as it is. For example, instead of trying to understand why i became angry, i must remove the "anger" from my condition and see it as such, not as my or someone else's anger and only then the pure anger and its orgin and movement will be doubtlessly visible.

I wish, sincerely, that I had the LUXURY of detaching myself from the people and situations that are slowly destroying me.. but I don't.
Day after day after day I have to take it in, suck it up and press forward; dealing with the same problems, the same people, the same stress, worry and fear. Endlessly. So, while I respect this message, the principles presented are NOT blanket applicable to all people in all situations. In my situation, if I detach I will topple out into the void, lose everything and in short order, die. So what I need more than stoicism is hope. Is real, true and genuine change in my life NOW, today.
No amount of positive thoughts will effect that, no amount of good will, or detachment will pay the rent, buy food, put fuel in the car... some of us need real, immediate and tangible help. Not a different perspective on things.

    • @thestoiccommunity
      @thestoiccommunity  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through such a difficult time. It's true that not everyone can afford the luxury of detachment, and sometimes what we really need is tangible help and real change in our lives. It's important to acknowledge that positive thinking and detachment alone may not solve our immediate problems. I hope you find the support and resources you need to make the changes you're looking for.
It might sound cliche but remember that it's okay to seek help and that you're not alone in facing these challenges. Take care.
