this has to be one of the best series you have...lol im already using azorius cookies/axe deck ....might have to give that synth deck a shot keep em coming man...we can dig it..
I have been playing auzorious control but really have been liking urzas sylex as a farewell type card to blow up anything that is needed. Also i really like soul guide lantern as i can get my grave hate in turn 1 before a counter spell and cycle it if not needed. Im running deduce because tome is an expensive rare and i like having that no more lies open their turn 2 instead of being tapped out. Also white suns twilight is a wincon in itself if they focus the Jace
I'm still running close to a stock Squirming Emergence deck this season and just like you said with the Archavios flavor, my percentage is held up by my win rate against Mono Black and everyone else. Mono Red and Boros are sitting at 40% 😅 I was at a 67% win rate with the deck overall when I hit mythic just the other day and, I just checked, now fell to 59% with almost 200 games played. Recently switched to Dimir Control to try and break past 99% mythic, but the play pattern change is so abrupt that I might go back to losing just to have fun 😂
I’ve been playing Azorius Control for a while, and although I love Mazemind Tome, I find myself leaning towards Deduce. It feels more efficient, especially on turn 2 when I’m on the draw. For instance, passing with two mana open as your opponent plays their third land keeps your options flexible-you can either counter an early threat or cast Deduce at the end of their turn. What do you think of this approach? Also, do you know of any good online communities or forums where Azorius Control is discussed? Great video, by the way! I really appreciate this format and the consistency in delivering such great quality every week ❤
I like deduce more against a midrange match up where they're more likely to play around a counterspell, so you can deduce at eot to draw. Against the aggro in bo1 though that lifegain can come in clutch
A bit shocked that you would deny the heavy thumb WotC puts on matchmaking. It is obvious and hurts the game a lot...but I guess it makes them more money so they continue to rig matchmaking.
I'm all for having this discussion again but I've seen little evidence (but lots of anecdotal evidence) that this exists. If there was matchmaking done based off deck composition we'd see it in tracker data. This is, of course, only talking about matchmaking applied to the ranked ladder. They certainly have matchmaking values that have been leaked, as well as openly talked about by wotc, for casual and brawl play.
Sounds like you're saying if you get into Mythic at a %ile that automatically means you got matchmaker'd into Mythic. Like getting into Mythic at a percentile is some sort of consolation prize? That's probably a chain of assumptions. Please go into detail on both MMRs at some point, if you don't mind. Thanks. Edit: I don't cheese arena, though if I do, it's all by accident.
Arena uses a modified glicko 2 system to calculate your mmr and then uses this to determine your starting mythic rank. The higher the mmr, the higher the starting rank. The starting rank also changes throughout the season. So for the first 2 weeks, if you place as a percentile, you were matched with a slightly lowered mmr. But as the season progresses you can only enter as a percentile. For example, right as I type this message, the maximum rank you'd start with in mythic is 98.4%. Once in mythic your mmr is then calculated using a separate glicko 2 system for end of season placement. Hope that helps clarify :)
Help support the channel while also helping yourself out with the untapped tracker mtga.untapped.gg/companion?

Happy to hear it :)

I like those inclusions. Deduce and Mazemind Tome are very similar and both have pros/cons

Having fun is the way to go imo
@@Arstall quick update tho, dropping a Malicious Eclipse on a board full of mice is also very fun.

These meta breakers are way more fun than mets decks
no one likes the mets (jk)

Love the axe!
I know some don't like the leyline mechanic in general but I think it's interesting
