    I’ve been back playing for a couple of months now and I can throw amazing then just hit 41s 45s and 26s consistently and can’t seem to snap out of doing it. This video has opened my eyes to the reasons why. Thanks mate can’t wait to practice tonight 👍

    It's amazing how good you are, I have only been playing a week and watching your tutorials. I am just so incredibly inconsistent I don't know what to do. Been practicing with different grips and going for the 20 but then I get to feeling good about it and I start throwing darts all over the board.

      Work on one aspect at a time. I'd start by getting a comfortable grip and picking the darts up the same every time, the work on keeping the elbow still and only using the wrist and fingers to throw. :)

    Great insight on Hankey and Bunting - keep up the great content. My right foot stands 3 inches to the right of center, I’ve considered going 4. I aim with my left eye, and am right handed, so I need my sight line unobstructed and right of center gives me that. My footing was 45 degrees, now 35. It’s not quite the most comfortable, but helps my elbow line up more naturally.

    Thanks for the tips! It's great to see the impact of a follow through when it's slowed down.
    I just learned to throw with my elbow bent at 90 degrees. My previous throw setup had my arm more forward at ~135 degrees. It felt awkward at first to make the adjustment, but man what a difference it is making in terms of consistency.
    Now I just need to work on consistent follow through and throw strength as you mention in this vid. Cheers!

    Thanks for this video. I got the problem on keeping hitting 5 or even 12 at soft tip darts. Your video inspired me and I have the direction to solve that problem now. This technique it not easy to handle (for me) but this direction is very important to me. Thanks!

    hey, thanks for the nice tip. but how do you adjust your throw to switch to lower segments of the board, say 19s or example? I realise that sometimes I am good at scoring with 20s and my arm motion is used to aiming/throwing at the 20s, but when going down to 19s, i dont know how to adjust my throw and my darts fly everywhere..

    I play the round the board game, does the same rule apply, because we are constantly switching left to right and up and down, eg if you hit D4 you go to 9 across the board and you can end up hitting 12 or 14.

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the same mistakes cause most errors. Keep the elbow still and flick the wrist straight, keeping the same shape of your hand, into a natural handprint. Checkout my video on switching :) th-cam.com/video/MNSE_9epQ-8/w-d-xo.html

    Does it matter if your arm isn't completely verticle? I find my arm feels tense if I bring my elbow in to make my arm more upright?

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it doesn't, but try and get your arm turned out to the board. Having your elbow almost point to the target helps you not to turn your elbow as you go through. 💪

    Hi, I just started playing darts and your page has helped me immensely. I have just switched my throw/stance the same as yours and phil taylor coz im opposite eye dominant as well. How do I avoid pulling my darts? Sometimes it goes to 5 and 1. Do I only need to practice my throws or am I missing something?

    • @Straightdarts

      A few tips... 😀
      1. Check your alignment.
      2. Check your wrist is flicking straight.
      3. Check your not turning your elbow on the throw.

    I'm currently having the "Eric Bristow problem", in which that I can't throw to the left side of the Oche because I have limited space to put my dartboard and there is a sofa just on the left of the oche, which forces me to throw at the right. What should I do to keep my dart straight?

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You'll need to change your alignment, make sure your elbow and shoulder are pointing under the double 3 (center of the board).
      You'll find you need to be more front on and your elbow will need to be out further as you stand to the left. :)

  • @doit5525

    I have a big problem.. I can't pull my dart to my eye and I throw it in let's say a 95 degree angle.. I just try everything to pull it more back and I even record myself but nothing works out..

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try to lower your elbow a bit and ark the draw back of the dart so the flight is going under your eye or even as fair as you lip if needed.

  • @marcuskingstanley9522
    @marcuskingstanley9522 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have a lot of wrist cock on your pull back. Something I dont do. Is that the key to getting a good follow through? I am trying to eliminate the stiffness in my throw. No matter how much I tell myself to keep loose and relaxed it doesnt work.

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you need the wrist back. The less wrist you use, the more you want to use your fingers. Try to use the arm as little as possible. Just flick the wrist and push very slightly off the fingers if needed. :) Bring the wrist back as much as you can without becoming tense. Th e wrist should always be loose so that you can flick quickly and early. If it's tight, you'll always release late, follow through less (even if your arm extends), and offten your elbow will rise as well. :)

    • @marcuskingstanley9522
      @marcuskingstanley9522 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Straightdarts superb. Thank you for that explanation. You are right about over using the fingers, that's what I tend to do , making the dart do all sorts of gymnastics in the air when I least expect it. If I can get the dart to fly consistently I know I can start to improve my aim. Thanks again

    A wee suggestion from someone who makes video for a living.
    You have done what is known as "crossing the stage line" which may confuse some viewers.
    You've videoed yourself from the 1s side bit videoed the board from the 5s side.
    This can be confusing to watch.
    Try videoing yourself and the board from the same side.
    Visually, it makes more sense.
    I hope my explaination is understandable. Even very experienced videographers struggle with this at times.
    Also, thanks for the tips.
    My game is getting slowly better.

    • @Straightdarts

      I'm playing left handed, I'm not good enough to be a pro. If you followed my story, you'd know, but why not, jude and talk big based on nothing instead, I suppose. I coach 35 players over the international level and above, the only full-time dart coach in the world.
      I can do this because iv studied the game and regardless of it tacking me 3yrs to hit the board with my left hand, I can play to a reasonable standard and have wan local events. I hoping to attend the challenge in 2025. I can't this year as I'm booked, 7 days a week 14 hours a day with the coaching for 4 months. Next time you want to he a keyboard warrior, do some home work kid.
