    Thanks for the tips, started playing darts around 6 month ago now, I am constantly trying to improve my darts and I'm practicing nearly every day I can and I can see it work out, I hit my first 180 in a match setting which is a massive milestone for me, I hit a lot of tons and 140's but never the 180, I also managed to get to semi final in a regional pub tournament which I was over the moon with, but keep up the good work, I am really enjoying your content :)

    I've been practicing for around 1-4 hours a day for the last 3 or 4 months and I'm really seeing some nice improvement. The only problem with this game is that there's really not a lot of info out there on the throwing action itself. If you take something like golf, which I've been playing for 25 years, there is every bit of info you can possibly think of, about every aspect of every different swing type. But what you seem to get in darts is "just throw the way it feels comfortable" or "you'll just find you're throw naturally", which makes things difficult if you're doing this completely on your own, as there's nobody there to sort of sight your action and tell you any errors that might be standing out.
    That being said, I guess if you're fairly industrious, there are a lot of options such as setting up a phone tripod, recording your action and getting it looked at online.
    Anyway, I'm loving the game so far....my brother is a gun player and started when he was 7 years old, but lives away, all I want is to be able to hand his ass to him next time he comes down to visit, as we live half a days drive apart. It might be tough though, as when I watch him play, it looks like he's shooting the fucking darts into the board from a crossbow lol.

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree regarding the golf comment that’s where I want the channel to provide a bit of a blueprint for people as I learn more about the game on my journey which hopefully helps. It takes a lot of work and time to improve but I honestly believe you have to always be working on your throw and technique in order to develop. When your in matches then just enjoy and throw your best but if I just went with my natural throw I would still be at a similar level in my view to the beginning 👍

    • @blackie75
      @blackie75 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RR10kTV Cheers for the reply, that part about your natural throw is super interesting and I would certainly relate that to the golf swing as well.

    • @blackie75
      @blackie75 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RR10kTV If I could ask you one quick question regarding the throw. In golf, the impulse to get the swing swing moving quickly in order to hit the ball hard, is generally what kills the speed for amateur golfers, as they create all the speed at the beginning of the swing and the club is actually decelerating when they strike the ball. So there is an element of smoothness and control needed in the backswing, where you don't actually let loose until the last 25% of the swing.
      Would you consider the timing of a good darts action similar to this? Where your speed comes from the last part of the throw, rather than snatching it back and jerking it forward fast? I think about it maybe in the same way as that one in 100 or so people that can throw a rock twice as far as anyone, because they have naturally great timing and athletic sequencing, but some people must drill it in.

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is the same principle for me as this yes , deceleration is what you see even in pros on a micro level and when they miss trebles or doubles consistently after playing at almost perfection. The muscles can tighten and forced micro deceleration then you see them trying to find the sweet spot again. When they do again it becomes somewhat automated. If you see most pros vs amateurs the biggest difference is the velocity of the dart thrown by pros is higher and also the control and less variation in the backswing. They actually use less of there muscles required than an amateur. The big difference between say the ability to throw a rock farther etc and darts is because of the skill in darts comes from the ability to find the sweet spot in the technique and not purely gaining advantage from throwing harder. There is a small correlation between throwing the dart with more power and skill level but only to a point. Eg someone who floats the dart or has a steeper parabolic curve is not better than someone with a shallower one at high level. The main point this draws that darts is not a power sport hence why the only advantage a stronger throw might have is that their is generally less chance for deceleration.
      Sorry for the essay 😅

    • @blackie75
      @blackie75 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RR10kTV That's interesting for sure. I certainly seem to notice that every now and then, I throw with an easier action but the dart seems to fly straighter and faster, so I assume that the kinetic chain was better because the arm was more relaxed. It's all super interesting to me, and I love the game, so I'll certainly be sticking with it and experimenting more as I go. Just as a side question, would you say that a release or a flick of the wrist is a vital part of the action? Cheers, and thanks for the detailed reply.

    Thank you for the tips. I've been playing for a couple of months and have watched a lot of videos on how to throw, but I realized that consistency in the throw is the hardest skill to master. I was wondering if there were any exercises that could be done to address those skills besides throwing....a bit like any athletes who lift weights to improve their games.

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No worries it is hard to do and my best tip would be to work on a tight grouping once you can achieve this then use pressure building drills such as ones in my various videos. 20 single 20s without missing is a good one to keep straight, practice hard and also nothing will grow you more than a 3 or 4 day event in my experience.
      All the best 💪🎯😉

    I'm picking the game back up again after 30 long years, and I want to play the way I used to. Back then I had dead eye accuracy and could hit any spot on the board on demand. I'll be honest..I thought it would be as easy as just picking the darts up again and throwing them, but I was wrong. Now I'm struggling just to hit a bullseye. Some of the tips you gave in this video took me back to those days and reminded me of that stance I always used and that consistent style I would always use to throw each dart. It probably isn't going to turn me pro by next week, but you gave me a better place to start over and reestablished that hope I was starting to give up on...so I just wanted to say thanks man!!

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate a good drill I have found to promote a good follow through and release is aiming for a area not specific target if your building confidence; go between just above double twenty try three above three below then do the same with double 3 above and below. The do same with bullseye but start inside the treble ring and then get further in not just going for double bull . Hope it helps 💪

    Any tips on how to improve grouping? I saw another video where a guy said to aim at a specific spot and throw, and then aim remaining darts at where the first dart went, even if it missed your intended target. Does this seem like sound advice, or do you have a different drill you use to tighten up your groups?

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I would say this definitely can help, three bulls is the best for me but early days try just hitting the barrel every time just replicate the same throw and work in the aim later , I started to do this early on and started getting two darts grouping well. Then worked on the other and helped a lot. A good grouping drill is also trying to get three in the double bed start with two and the best is double 20 or double 18/12 as the are higher so require more acceleration through the throw 👍

    Any tips for hiting the below doubles...D3 and D19. Cause i miss them always

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate I find them more psychological barriers than anything else, double 3 is straight so actually not a difficult double to aim for, go for the outside wire first which will give you a marker and less likely to go inside. Same as double 1 miss outside, D19 I find easier but I have a confident feeling over it after hitting it so many matches. Get confident on hitting doubles and be aggressive always think they are going to go it and don’t throw until you convince yourself. Everybody misses just try to miss less and grab hold of the opportunity when it comes 💪🙌🎯

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      See what your in person average is over a period of time and get comfortable with being uncomfortable, a lot of players struggle with anxiety to different degrees but if you slowly build into your game pressure and play more with different people or online. Then make it more intense and see how it goes just keep it steady and build up to it don’t go play in a high pressure environment straight away or the negative effects will be burnt into your memory. You need to build a positive experience whilst getting used to pressure.
      Also breathing properly and just focusing on your breath is a great way to control nerves I did this at challenge tour earlier in the year and helped me get a better handle on it 👍💪

    I did intense training and blew my elbow out.
    Bad advice.
    Reason is once you push to failure you've got an injury, which means time off or playing with a persistent injury.
    Which is counter productive to making gains.
    Your better off splitting your training up into micro intense focused exercises to avoid injury 👍

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Everyone body is different, if you watching all my videos you would know I tell pretty clearly. Muscle ache is good to a reasonable point but not pain or joint pain as it is counter productive. Always listen to your body if you feel like you could injure yourself most people can tell. If you never push yourself past a certain point though you will not improve to a certain level.

    • @m4d_mark_xtr3me79
      @m4d_mark_xtr3me79 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @RR10kTV that is true, I have watched your videos which is why I thought this bit of advice was strange...
      Well considering you managed to pull off 21 days consecutive training 🤷
      I used to throw for over an hour without breaks.
      Now I have an ulnar nerve problem which unfortunately is affecting the darts.
      It's a catch 22, you want to practice to get better but every time you get to point you have to stop to avoid injuries to the area.
      It's abit like watching porn and not being able to finish 🤣
      So for me training has to be in short intense bursts with a break in between.
      E.g. if I did a first to 9 legs I would need a break after probably leg 4 or 5

      @@m4d_mark_xtr3me79 you are right about not pushing too much something I found out myself and have had 4 neck strains in earlier days which put me out but as far arm shoulders everywhere else always been fine. It’s a very hard balance to get and I was close to injury on day 20 of that and could feel the neck , but also made it stronger in ways. I think stretching and knowing where the line is including relaxing when throwing is the biggest thing I have learned.
