Great episode as always! Commenting on the comments, I keep my manuals. A printed manual is not the same as a digital. I didn't throw away my records, cds, dvds and blu-rays either just cause I got streaming services. Actually got a big box of vhs as well!

My understanding is that the mold injection marks are more noticeable because the time the ABS is in the mold has been reduced.I might be wrong on that though. Thanks for the episode.
I went to buy several sets on the Star Wars sale, but they were already sold out, and that was at 12:15 on May 1st in Australia. It's almost like we are an after thought for the Lego Group. We never get enough stock.

Great episode! Thank you for keeping us entertained. I think maybe it is the unrelated Lego content that make it so good 😂 I have also noticed brick quality issues recently too. Especially the Modified Tile 1x1 with open clip in the Disney Haunted Mansion. They are used around the roof line and almost all had big 'bellybutton' marks on the sides. I had to ask Lego to replace them twice as some replacements also had the marks. I wouldn't have accepted this quality from a Bricklink purchase, so I was so surprised with them being this quality from Lego directly 😟
The whole 80's themes to me brings back loads of nostalgia. I want all the sets. Funny thing though is that Lego screwed up again. Two sets from the same designer were in the final 5. The Goonies and Karate Kid sets were by the same guy. Lego took out the Karate Kid set and replaced it with a Honey I Shrunk the Kids set. Personally I would love to have the Beetlejuice set as it is my favorite film of the group but I think the Goonies set would be a cooler one to have based on the design. Also in the rules for the contest they stated that two sets will be made from the 5 nominees. There will be a second vote once this first one is decided.
Answers to your questions: I'm not buying anything for may 4th since I'm not into Lego Star Wars.

I have a question for you guys again to get a discussion going: What are your thoughts on the recent issues with the Lego Ideas 80's contest?
If you're not up to date with it; there's a contest and after Lego made a selection of 5 entries, we, the people, get to vote on them. First the date where we could vote was postponed. Then they released 5 entries, but 2 of them were made by the same person, so they reset the voting and replaced one of those sets. It just feels a bit weird for a big company such as Lego to make so many mistakes with one 'simple' contest, imo.

When it comes to measuring your boxes. There was a manufacturing error where a bunch of measuring tapes were off by 1/8 inch per inch.

Hmm, that new TIE Interceptor UCS is $300 CAD. I think I might actually try for that, maybe see if I can get it on sale some time. The TIE Interceptor is my favourite Star Wars fighter, and I even made a custom MOC version of it a couple years ago! I sent in some pics of that, and some other MOCs too, but I don't think they've been shown on here yet. :P

Yes I am a contractor/ builder. The word space comes up a lot. Every time it comes up, I can hear Alex say n my head, but sometimes when I say space in front of a client or another worker, it comes out in the Shatner style. Who ever I’m talking too they give me the weirdest look and then I have to explain to them why I said that.
By the way Zapps potato chips are the best. I like the spicy Cajun, hotter jalapeño, and the dill gator taters
I got the droideka, the interceptor, and was surprised with an additional 200$ in my birthday budget so I also grabbed the X-Wing since I had missed that one!

I really like the promos! But sometimes I wonder if they can't make it a set you can purchase separately OR get free with a purchase at a higher value? That way it is almost like double stacking discounts.

Because of you two nerds I get sent some of the most random and incredible Lego builds I never knew existed. It's actually pretty cool.
I would love to see a show highlighting some of the odd, neat, art, functioning, and wildest builds of Lego stuff out there. But more I'd love you guys breaking it all down for us.
Not only do I hear Alex saying Space in my head the other day at work someone said there was no space left for something and my arm went out and I said Space rather loudly. Everyone thought I was having a stroke.😅
The reason they build spheres is actually because of physics (though I'll give you the planet was a little extreme). When in a void where gravitation forces pull from all around you sphere's hold up better over time.
Since my birthday is May 1st, and Star Wars is my favorite thing. I get so excited for May 4th (both Lego and regular)!

Zapp’s are the best y’all need to try the spicy cajun crawtators ones.
Those 80s movies sets... I dunno. They all seem like very difficult movies to make sets of, because there's no one particular thing that the set can be, it has to try and capture the whole movie at once. I'll admit I haven't seen Beetlejuice or E.T., but still. The one for The Goonies I think is a cool idea, but it doesn't really work because you can't display both sides of it unless you make it the centerpiece. Which side gets to face the wall and be wasted? Gremlins.... I didn't like Gremlins, I dunno. My vote goes to The Karate Kid because I think it looks nice.
Question: which five 90s movies would be a cool follow-up to this? (I realize these are all Ideas submissions but still)
I nominate "Jumanji" and "Honey I Shrunk the Kids", "Dragonheart" (even though I've never seen that) and uhhh... heck, they've done all the rest. Hm... Forget about being family-friendly, let's have "The Fifth Element" and "Galaxy Quest"!
I'd be all in on a Fifth Element set. The space taxi with Corbin and Lelu and the police would be a perfect set.

Alex, why not just print a pdf copy and save it on your phone? Then you can just open the pdf at the post office and show them a electronic copy instead of a paper copy

Wow I didn’t mean to start a national debate about manuals. I do use the manual when I first build the set but after that unless it’s one with a lot of interesting info I recycle them.
Last year everyone was complaining about the data card that came in the promo. People didn't understand what it was. I'm like "did you even see Star Wars?". It was the Death Star plans that Leia loaded into R2D2. It's a collector's item. It drove me crazy. Damn newbies.

@@mathra2523 thank you. Glad it wasn't just me. I thought it was a unique idea that I've never seen before. Several of the so called big Lego TH-camrs didn't even understand what it was.
None of this year GWP's tickled my fancy. I would like the TIE Interceptor but will probably wait until next year. Maybe just maybe I'll get the X-Wing even though I have the 2013 one.
The TIE Interceptor looks great, but I don't collect UCS sets. I like to have at least one regular version of each main ship and the Interceptor is one of the only ones I don't have. It's available in one set with a fang fighter for $100, but I don't want to spend that much when I only want 1 of the 2 ships.
I just feel bad getting more than one gift with purchase because there's only so many to go around and I want as many people as possible to get one if they want one.

I do multiple purchases to get the free gifts but if you look at terms and conditions on Lego regarding the gifts it says “one per household” guess they don’t follow that rule lucky.
I won’t be buying anything on May 4th as don’t do Star Wars but why don’t they do this with other themes? For example September the 1st. Know what theme that would relate too?
