    Great video! Love learning new ways to combine gear and get new colors out of different combinations.

    Hey I love all the work you do on this channel. I have a question with the launcher and needed some help. I tried using my launcher with my mesavonic ribbon mic. The chain was Ribbon -> Launcher -> Maag PreQ -> Interface. I could not get any signal using this setup. I did not cut the phantom power on because I didn’t want to damage the ribbon mic. Could you help with this with some suggestions??? Thanks so much!!!

      The Launcher was made to work with Dynamic and Ribbon mics, the Launcher will intercept the phantom so don't worry about it hitting the mic. Turn it on and enjoy! Mesanovics are awesome mics

    do you think using the launcher for vocals with a u87 into a lyra 1 interface would be nicer than just u87 into the clean lyra1 preamps? Would the launcher add richness and quality or weaken the quality of the u87 into the lyra?

      The Launcher is just like a Cloudlifter or any other impedance booster/preamp. The Laucher needs phantom power to opperate, but doesn't not pass any phantom power to the microphone. If you want to use it with a condenser microphone, you can check out the Launcher Deluxe. It has a a "Saturate Mode" switch that turns it into a passive color box. You still get the color from the Launcher, but there's no gain boost and it doesn't need phantom power to operate (meaning you can use it with condenser microphones).
      You could look into buying some sort of external phantom power solution, like the Locomotive Audio Copperline that I've recently done a video on. You could plug your mic into the Copperline in order to power it, plug the Copperline into your Launcher, and the Launcher into a normal preamp to send phantom power to the Launcher. I've done crazy chains like that a few times, but it would be WAY easier to just buy a Launcher Deluxe if you want the color for a condenser mic 🤣.

      @@MillSounds i just realised it doesnt have the saturation switch like the delux model. my understanding is the launcher is just a gain boost where as the delux is gain boost and also saturation switch. well that makes it more closer to the price of a daking mic pre one which i read good things on.

      @@MillSounds thanks. it would need to be daking mic pre one or the launcher delux. looks like more tonal options with the daking whereas only one saturation option with launcher delux.

      @@rapfactor1 If you're using a condenser mic mostly, the Daking would probably be a better option (it's an amazing preamp...). The Launcher really shines more on passive microphones like dynamics and ribbons.

      @@MillSounds your a champ man i subbed and i think so too. same price. and has it a vintage thick sound like a neve this daking? i have owned portico 5017 in the past and liked the thickness

    Do you feel like this is just raising the high frequencies or doing something more?

    • @MillSounds
      @MillSounds  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@1MilkmanDan1 The Launchers do a lot. There’s a high end differences, the low end changes a bit, there’s an impedance change as well as harmonic distortion. Sometimes it’s subtle, sometimes very obvious.

    damn, good playing! Do you think the Launcher would work well for metal vocals, with an SM7b?

      SM7 and Launcher combo is awesome! I ended up selling an AEA KU5 because the SM7/Launcher sounded a lot better to me on vocals.
