    Excellent review, Steve. I like the fact that you chose to review the base model. Other reviewers like to review the high end models which could cost near $50,000 bucks! I bought a XL with the backseat deleted and am loving it.

    I just purchased a 2020 Ford Ranger XL STX FX2 with less than 10000 miles on it and the first thing i did was watch your video. You could not have done a better job. Im still learning all the bells and whistles my new truck can do but your review has made it a lot easier to learn about this thing. Another thing you mentioned is a 2008 Ranger. I bought one of those in 2014 and traded it in for the new one after 8 years of no problem driving.

    I am picking up a 2020 Supercab XLT in two days. Took it for a short test drive yesterday and was impressed by the response, handling and power. Have previously owned several trucks, many makes/models, from 1/2 ton through to an F-250 depending on my need at the time. Future needs are for a daily driver living in a rural area with very occasional towing, usually

    Good video Steve. I have a STX on order, and the explanations certainly helped. On, and BTW, the noise when you first start that little 2.3L is the radiator fan. It's clutched, and when it catches up with the rpms of the engine it quiets down.

    Thanks for the awesome review, being Canadian also it's great to have a Canadian view, on a Canadian specked Ranger (only 4x4 in our country). This XL close to what I am seeking, even less options for my tastes, I live in northeastern Ontario where the streets are rough, with mediocre snow removal, but hundred and hundreds of miles of bush roads and this truck fits this forever Ford fan who has owned six Ford 4x4s but no Ranger.

      Glad you like the video Frederick! The new Ranger is definitely a change for the old 3rd gen (3rd and 4th facelift) but it's been a popular truck for folks who don't want a full size! Would this be your first Ranger or have you owned a previous gen one as well?

    A good look at the new Ranger, thanks for uploading. I liked how you explained the screens and the controls for them. I also appreciated your honesty when it comes to the rear seat in the Supercabs. I don't think you mentioned it, but there is a rear seat delete option for the Supercab. I'm about to order one and rear seat delete will be one of my several touches added to the truck. I used to have an '86 Ranger a long time ago and I gotta say Ford did a good job with the new version. Not too big, not too small. A lot of good features and a nice Ecoboost engine with more than enough power.

      Cars with Steve I didn't even think about a chance of a military discount. I will make a note of it. I noticed your dealership is in Canada. I went through that stretch of Canada between Michigan and Upstate NY in the early 1980's and I remember how clean it was. No trash on the side of the road, stuff like that. Judging from your driving footage, Canada still looks great.

      Plus there's about $1,200 (depending on the trim of the Ranger) in wiggle room a dealer could take off the MSRP if you're buying from the lot or as a factory order! I'm in more of a suburban area, but like most places we do have cities that aren't the greatest. It's been a few years since I've been down that way but there are some great stretches on both sides of the border

    Good video as I'm looking for an XL now.. My only beef is that you should have used an actual base XL model and not the top of the line FX4 model as they are very different in ride and price point.. You showed features the FX4 has that the XL does not which is misleading and as a salesman you should know that..Tires are an upgrade, but are not the main difference by any means.. The upgraded off road suspension and locking diff are the difference and 4 low is not primarily for boats especially with the FX4 package...4 low is an amazing off road gear range for off road use.. Would have been better to title it FX4 review.
    The sales person I spoke to didn't know the difference either, but was very quick to try to upsell....

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Steve, I'm very familiar with the differences in options for the vehicle. The FX4 is an add on package, not a trim level, that is available in the XL, XLT and Lariat trims of the Ranger. The point of the video isn't to upsell people uncessarily as the FX4 package is one I wouldn't recommend if it's only used as a daily driver.
      There are a ton of things to cover on any vehicle, so thanks for also pointing out that 4 low is great for folks who off road in this thing! When there's an XL without the $1,400 (CDN) FX4 add on package on the lot I'll make sure to shoot a video on it so people can see the difference!

  • @1976axerhand
    @1976axerhand 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    well i bought one but not the xl but the xlt... i alos learned from a friend that instead of buying the harness for 90 bucks that disables the auto stop start, you can get a fuse(6-bucks) and when you plug it in it tricks the truck in thinking you have the tow package on.. when mine comes in i will try it out and see if he is right? if its right 6 bucks is alot better than 90.
