Yep espically between 170-200mm I noitced a difference the mark 1 Sony dies a bit on the long range. Focus is great! Maybe a bit slow at night but will have to test it againt the other Sony 70-200 lenses to know for sure
It's strange that you didn't show the lens with the lens hood attached in the transport position. Because then you probably don't have access to the zoom ring. You have to remove the cover completely or put it on to control the zoom.

Hi Sarah, Depends on how much of a budget you are on. The Sony A7iii is still a really cable camera, the Canon 80D now has a 90D which is its successor but, I haven't kept up to date with Canon cameras, so I can only advice on Sony models. If you have the budget the Sony A7IV is the one to get. Alternatively, if you are looking for more of a hybrid content creation camera, and are finding yourself more into video than photography, the A7CII is also a great choice.

Just like 95% or more vids on utube, they promote camera and lens with pretty photos, but they leave out the fact editing and color grading the photo took more work than actually taking it. Just get out and take pictures. Make mistakes and learn.

Your first Sony camera? I own the a7IV and it is really a very good hybrid camera, in contrast to old DSLRs it is really very compact. I own the 24mm 1.4 GM, 35mm 1.4 GM, 50mm 1.4 GM and Sony 85mm 1.8. I've been thinking about a 70-200 for a while, but I'll wait and see.
Good luck with your purchases! I have the a7R IV A, the Sigma 85mm 1.4 DN and Sigma 35mm 1.2 DN! I also recently purchased the 70-200mm GM II. I did get some hands-on with the Sigma 70-200mm but the weight difference, focusing difference and location of the zoom ring made me go for the Sony in the end. The 35mm 1.2 and 85mm 1.4 are both terrific lenses that I would highly recommend!
Wow going all out man! great choices. If you're an avid portrait shooter you'll love the 35mm 1.2 however it's quite heavy and expensive compared to the 35mm 1.4, also a great choice still! But if budget and weight is no problem go for it!

I was in the middle of nowhere shooting a GTR when a woman pulled up, thought she was gonna be a karen but long story short, she was riding around with a 90D hooked up to a Sigma Art 70-200 2.8 and she let me use it for a few shots lol. Incredible lens. Super sharp even with my cold shaky hands in like 25 degrees.

For many people, saving money is more important than the quality. Let's be honest, a lens of this calibre is going to be good enough for 99.9% of people in 99% of situations. I very much doubt that ANYONE could even tell the difference between the results of new Sigma and the Sony mk II in 99% of situations. Perhaps in 100% of situations. So, that $1300 US can be spent on more things that are in themselves, more quality. More plane tickets to get you to interesting locations. More time from models for portraits. More lenses for different kinds of shots. The best photographer is never EVER the pixel peeper. Not ever.
