+IgniteBurningIce Nah bruh, durians are *nasty*. Heh, well actually it's a really polarising fruit so it depends on preference. Durians are local where I live so durian season is hell for me.
+Dalia Ng wish I lived where you do! I think some people dislike the smell, some people dislike the mushy texture...tried frozen durian? The smell and the texture both change.
I don't understand why are they so mean to Ben ... he is ADORABLE !!! its like beating a panda ... how could you !! and those food are FINE ~ they taste good.
Ben Carr Have you tried it before? Oh right, because you're probably too obnoxious and ignorant to even give it a go. Go back to eating hamburgers, lad.
Today Ben finally takes revenge on Mike, Barry and Jamie! The boys are taken on a culinary tour of new and unfamiliar foods from around the world. How will they cope? #fishmaw #chickenfeet #durian #ducktongue #driedshrimp #delicacies #fridgecam
If you want some from Norway. Smalahovud (Sheeps head), Cod head, and Lutefisk (Fish preserved in Lye). Personally I don't like the last one, but Smalahovud is actually pretty damn amazing, except I didn't have the guts to eat the eye like you are supposed to.
dangg you guys are weak!! That stuff is quite basic and normal......Ben if you are looking to really torture your bullies, I recommend Duck Blood, Stinky Tofu (this is the worse, i promise), Bitter Melon, Salty Fish, Preserved Egg...
as a chinese that is born and raised in hk i don't believe anyone will eat fish maw and the dry shrimp in this way at least i have never saw anyone eat is that way lol, but as a revenge is totally fine lmao
StoneOfMoon For durian, most people are in two extremes, many people love it soooo much, and the rest of people hate it and think it is awful, just few people are in neutral. But i recommend you can have a try~
P. pham Are you sure you are buying the right durian? Because durians are known for their terrible smells, in my whole lifetime, I have never seen or smelled a durian that did not have an awful smell.
I grow up eating durian, dried shrimp and chicken feet (and other gross-but-tasty things) hahaha it's so funny to see that they are unfamiliar to most people :D
hey ben, im assuming that the durian variety that u got from the asian store was thai mornthong, isn't it? trust me if u get the chance to go to or to kor market (high fancy upclass wet market), get the long stem durian, best variety in thai repetoire. look up 'mark wiens or tor kor market'. btw, LOVE CHICKEN FEET (aka cantonese: phoenix claws). hmmm
I was laughing so hard looking at Barry, gagging over the chicken feet.. Those are high and good source of collagen guys- good for our skin.. Asian beauty secret
LOL To Barry, Mike and Jamie. More than half the time...those dried products (shrimp and etc) are cooked in someway before you eat it. Good job Ben, made them eat dried usually-unedible products xD And chicken feet are yummy. As well as durian :3 Along with pig intestines ;D
I absolutely LOVE Durian!!! Icecream, candy, drinks etc. I would highly recommend for you to try, Balut ;) Tip: Make sure to drink the soup, add a bit of salt and vinegar to taste
being a chinese... it's normal to eat those things that you've shown in the video!! we eat these very very often! i've seen and eat most of them since i was 3... the video is so hilarious! Enjoyed it very much! :D
Cow brain or as we call it here in Brazil "miolo". My mom used to make miolo when I was growing up and I have to admit it tasted pretty good. Or cow stomach stew with white beans and smoked sausages ("bucho"). It smells terrible when you first cook the stomach but then when the dish is ready, it's really delicious.
Aww yeah chicken rice! I'm Singaporean too and it's absolutely amazing! Can't say about chili crab though, haven't tried it before, as crazy as that sounds for a Singaporean 😏
IDK if anyone has mentioned this already, but as a quick and extremely late note, those tiny shrimp are actually mostly boiled out for a soup base instead of being eaten straight. At least, to my knowledge. In Vietnamese cuisine, they're used for a lot of basic soups. Sour crab noodles is a more popular recipe that makes use of it.
Suggested recipe! My grandmother would make Bubur Durian, which is literally translated as Durian porridge. It uses coconut milk, pandan leaves, palm sugar and tapioca pearls (sometimes she'll add sweet potato cubes). I highly recommend it, though fair warning - the smell does permeate.
I like the idea of people doing this with all of the parts of the animal deemed 'useless'. I don't like people wasting some perfectly fine and edible parts of an animal. Especially after the sacrifice just to get SOME of the meat from that animal. So these parts before cooked and eaten are better than being completely disregarded in my opinion.
Fish Maw is actually really good. You have to soak it in water first to puff it up. It's dried here. It commonly goes into soup. My mum always stuffs it with minced pork, diced carrots and fish paste and cooks it in the soup. Delish.
There is always the option of Bull Fries or Lamb Fries, but if you are looking for something a little bit more delicate there is Wyoming Pudding. If you are feeling especially adventurous like my uncle, there is jack rabbit, dove, pigeon, bison, and many other varieties of wild game. All of these can be found in Wyoming though I'm not entirely sure you can find them in England.
Balut! It's delicious after its boiled and the contents mixed with a pepper sauce consisting of Thai chilli pepper, cilantro, green onions, lime and fish sauce.
After seeing the normals faces on tasting, I can see where the idea for Poker Face came from. 🤣 I am glad they are more positive about trying new foods, or are they? Need to see some bloopers/outtakes if they are not!
Try Sanakji, a popular drinking food that is either chopped live octopus or squid (I'm not positive)~ as soon as you get over the initial reaction to it, it's great!
Fish maw is delicious after it's cooked! You guys should totally try Fish Maw Crab Meat soup, it's one of the most delicious oriental dish ever! Really enjoyed this video, thanks for all the awesome recipes. :]
These are the only videos that when it comes to mentioning their other videos, I don't stop it and leave. And believe me I have done that a lot of times
dried shrimps are meant to season soup....you could eat em just like that but you should down em with beer.... again a fish maw.. its meant to crunch up soup. its a cheap ass thing to eat anyways. its again a beer side. duck tongue again its suppose to be eaten with beer! its a fine on its own chicken feet. its suppose to be eaten with beer! god damn it did you pick all the stuff that are bar snacks? the last thing its a prized fruit in south part of Asia.if made into sweets its like heaven on earth. you guys should really go to china or some place to try what chinese and Asian food is really like. how you chose your food and how you did not use them as they would be best but rather giving em a image of this is weird and uneatable.
⊙▽⊙I can make the finest beef taste like shit if I try. I would like them to present a better image of Asian food. then again I would not do that to the food.
I don't know why you're getting so offended. Their culture is not used to that food, so they personally didn't like it. Yes, food is a large part of culture. But they're not saying that an entire culture is terrible, they're just saying that those particular foods prepared in those particular ways were terrible, in their OPINION.
Oh, and they also have a full playlist with tons of recipes of Asian foods prepared correctly. So look around a bit before getting so offended over nothing.
Lily Weitzman why am I offended... I am just saying its better to do things the way showcase their best taste... if something died for you to be on your plate a little respect goes along way. anyway I am sorry that I made you feel like I am offended?
and some country in south east asia make durian as main ingredients for food, even savory and sweet, such as ice cream, or tempoyak (fermentated durian) it can use for sambal or tenderized meat people in indonesia and malaysia use it
Try Balut!!! Also I guess I'm weird because I grew up loving those little shrimps and I looooove durian. Hahah. Still never been a fan of chicken feet but doesn't gross me out. Haha
Why have I never seen this episode! Hilarious! My parents love all those dishes, but I actually only like the durian fruit. Just bought a pandan-durian cake for my mom's birthday last week :)
In Iceland, you could get Hákarl or kæstur hákarl, which is fermented shark. I don't know how you could get it in other countries, but my best friend had me try some in Iceland. It has a very strong smell, but it isn't that bad...
I second, third, forth, etc. the rocky mountain oysters. There's also Mountain Dew flavored Cheeto looking things from Japan but they're a convenience store type food.
I got so excited when the durian came out :D hahaha I love durian so much. If you can get pass the smell (which I don't need to cause I love it) it's really nice.
you guys should try Daing, Tuyô. A dried, fried fish from the Philippines. My SO's grandmother had some shipped in... apparently its not very um... FDA approved or sanctioned in the usa, but the UK might be different!
dried salted shrimp.... use them with glutinous rice and some meat and some taro and some chinese seasoning sauc... u get the bomb.. here we call them *har mai*... a dialect slang for that. ;D ohhh... and chicken legs are my all time fav!
Try Balut , its a street food/delicacy from the Philippines. Have been watching your videos for the past few days, and i thought i would comment in this video :D
i love chicken feet! My mom usually cook them with spicy seasonings and it is so gooooodd!!! Durian is also better if you got it from the actual fruit rather than frozen!
You boys definitely have to try the Japanese delicacy called "shirako". There is this other dish from Iceland I've only heard about, I can't quite remember what it's called but it's shark that was buried for 6 months, hung to cure and chopped into little squares that look like sugar cubes. I'd REALLY like to see you eat that!!! ;)
Interestingly enough, although Durian is the traditional fruit of Thailand and famously so, it is prohibited to bring it in public transport and certain buildings as well (esp. hotels and government establishments) because of its "dirty sock" smell. It does, I've heard, have an incredibly good taste once you get past the smell.
Southern American food! 1. Banana and mayonnaise sandwiches, 2. grits with butter, salt and pepper, 3. cornbread and milk, 4. American biscuits and white sausage gravy. :3
Vegemite, maybe? You may not be able to get it where you guys are, but I highly recommend traditional Indigenous Australian Outback foods. Things like the Honey Ant, or the Witchetty Grub. Perhaps it's because I am Chinese, but I actually like all of those foods. Probably not Durian though, because I'm allergic to it.
I love how even though Ben is taking revenge on the others, he still sticks the sprig of mint on the durian like it somehow makes it taste any better.
but durians tastes like heaven! if you disregard the smell
The smell and the texture both change.
i know the feel. i'm malaysian, and durian season is horrible. the smell is everywhere.
Oo frozen durian is infinitely worse than fresh ones and I love durians lolol
I don't understand why are they so mean to Ben ... he is ADORABLE !!! its like beating a panda ... how could you !! and those food are FINE ~ they taste good.
He's their best friend and they love him... he gives them as much shit as they give him.
Have you seen what they did for his birthday.. was lovely.
...but chicken feet are freaking delicious
Bruh... You got prollems
Ben Carr Have you tried it before? Oh right, because you're probably too obnoxious and ignorant to even give it a go. Go back to eating hamburgers, lad.

Ben Carr Then I guess the whole Indian subcontinent got problems lol

Everything there tastes fabulous to me.

Icelandic dried fish!
Me.... :"I LOVE ALL OF THESE!!! HOW DARE THEY INSULT THEM?!?!?"

It's hilarious watching Mike, Barrie & Jamie cringe so much on foods I've grown up munching on like popcorn.
dangg you guys are weak!! That stuff is quite basic and normal......Ben if you are looking to really torture your bullies, I recommend Duck Blood, Stinky Tofu (this is the worse, i promise), Bitter Melon, Salty Fish, Preserved Egg...
YES. I AGREE WITH ALL THIS. although preserved egg is quite good in congee. BUT YES TO STINKY TOFU AND BITTER MELON :P

I never tried durian, but I've experienced the smell of it, and it surely isn't nice.
StoneOfMoon For durian, most people are in two extremes, many people love it soooo much, and the rest of people hate it and think it is awful, just few people are in neutral. But i recommend you can have a try~
P. pham All durians I've been around smell bad.
P. pham All that my relatives buy are from Asian markets xD
P. pham Are you sure you are buying the right durian? Because durians are known for their terrible smells, in my whole lifetime, I have never seen or smelled a durian that did not have an awful smell.
I grow up eating durian, dried shrimp and chicken feet (and other gross-but-tasty things) hahaha it's so funny to see that they are unfamiliar to most people :D
I'm actually Chinese so I find this quite funny HAHAHA :]

I freaking love durian and chicken feet omg guys U have no idea WHAT U ARE MISSING OUT ON COME TO SINGAPORE
but...but...but...I LOVE chicken feet in black bean sauce (always order it at dimsum restaurants) & durians!

hey ben, im assuming that the durian variety that u got from the asian store was thai mornthong, isn't it? trust me if u get the chance to go to or to kor market (high fancy upclass wet market), get the long stem durian, best variety in thai repetoire. look up 'mark wiens or tor kor market'. btw, LOVE CHICKEN FEET (aka cantonese: phoenix claws). hmmm

durians are the bomb!

SORTED Food hahaha i guess its an acquired taste :):)
I had fresh ones one time... It just went down the drain, along with the rest of the food in my stomach.
I find it hilarious that Barry is scared that the durian tastes like banana, instead of it tasting like how it smells.

I'd be willing to try everything here but the maw. I draw the line at that.
Cow brain or as we call it here in Brazil "miolo". My mom used to make miolo when I was growing up and I have to admit it tasted pretty good.

It has a very strong smell, but it isn't that bad...
my family and i usually put the shrimp with congee for breakfast along with spring onions.

You boys definitely have to try the Japanese delicacy called "shirako". There is this other dish from Iceland I've only heard about, I can't quite remember what it's called but it's shark that was buried for 6 months, hung to cure and chopped into little squares that look like sugar cubes. I'd REALLY like to see you eat that!!! ;)

Good too see Barry still hasnt changed. I would love to see a remake of this!
Vegemite, maybe? You may not be able to get it where you guys are, but I highly recommend traditional Indigenous Australian Outback foods. Things like the Honey Ant, or the Witchetty Grub.
Perhaps it's because I am Chinese, but I actually like all of those foods. Probably not Durian though, because I'm allergic to it.
actually, on chicken feet it's not fat, just the skin, which cooked and softened during the cooking.
Pork floss is a fantastic condiment to add to rice congee and toast
