    I had a visual migraine episode once, and losing the ability to read (not understanding written words) once. It is quite scary, but usually "mostly harmless", however very inconvenient. High stress can induce it, for some people it only happens in high stress situations, or from lack of sleep.

    People think that migraines are just a headache. They have no IDEA what its like to suffer from migraines. I wouldn’t wish migraines on my worst enemy.

    I just had one this morning and am still ill from it. The thought of it in general makes me want to be sick, I wouldn't wish this not even on my worst enemy, the severity changes for different people but mine are so bad and i puke so much that I just feel like knocking myself out so I don't have to experience it

    I really feel for her. This is one of the symptoms/auras I get and one I had was very similar to this and I was rushed to the hospital as well with concerns of a stroke or seizure. I feel much like she is explaining when it happens and sometimes there isn't even a headache or it doesn't come till later.

    Everyone is different, and everyone may react differently to the same condition. What affects one person one way might affect another person differently. It was apparent that this event was big enough to affect her the way it did, Like I said in my earlier statement, I had seen this with my own eyes with an ex gf of mine, so I knew right away what this newscaster was going through. I just remember this news story bothering me because of how insensitive people are to others online.

    Are used to get headaches when I was a kid got worse and I grew up then I ended up having a concussion and now all the migraines at all as I am at the point where I start getting at least two migraines a day sometimes three and they’re intractable I’m glad you talked about this subject because it needs more attention and people need to be more aware about how prevalent migraines really are

    I had something similar in 2009 and I can say that it was easily the most frightening moment of my life so far and because I was 19 at the time the emergency doctor said it was NOTHING and didn't even BOTHERED to examine me, so until now I had no idea of what happened to me that day.

    I get aura migraines I only just found out what the correct term was after all these years I was being told about migraine attacks but just self educated myself to now know that it is aura migraines I suffer from I do feel her pain but because its slightly exaggerated because she's a tv celeb or reporter it is annoying and lasts for up to 30 mins sitting in a dark room for up to a hour does help relax but taking a pain relief tablet on the first sign but be a great advantage. Hope nobody else ever has to suffer from this - my prayers and best wishes to all

    God bless us all.. I'm sure all of us are here for the same reason we've had a experience with an aura ocular migraine of some sort. It is terrifying. God bless you all I pray for all of you that God will bring down his mercy and put his hands upon you and all of us to help us to rid the symptoms and especially the cause of any kind of these mini seizures or migraines or whatever they want to call them. They're just ridiculous and I went to to ophthalmologist 10 years apart and neither one of them could tell me what was going on when I described them.. It took a friend-of-a-friend nearly fifteen years from the first one that I've had to say that her sister experienced it and it was called ocular migraine.. yeah and my own to opthamologist couldn't figure it out! Not even after describing it.. yeah and of course TH-cam has it. But not school trained college-educated ophthalmologist!! Good Lord

      Slightly disappointing to read that many healthcare professionals haven't even heard about something that is so very common. I believe an opthalmologist should be able to tell when a symptom seems to be neurological in nature and refer you to a neurologist or to a headache clinic.

    Well it's good she discovered what was causing her symptoms while not behind the wheel of a car or something. I've had the migraine with aura and it's weird to say the least. It's a jagged backwards or normal "C" going across your field of vision. No pain but you don't fee normal. The episode can last about 20 minutes while the jagged thing moves across your vision. You feel a little nauseated and groggy afterwards but I didn't slur my words like this girl. It's a little strange but you can certainly tell it's not really your eyes but your brain which is misfiring.

    When I get my aura migraines, my vision in right eye get blurry and lasts about thirty mins. The actual migraine part, afterwards, is debilitating. I can barely talk and get dry mouthed, and nausia. The days following, im pale. I get these once about every four months.. they started in sixth grade, im now in ninth..

    I'm 28 male, first two migraines were ten years apart and none Aura. 2 years later I've had 2 aura migraines 2 days in a row about 4 hours each. The worst pain I've ever felt, I thought I was dieing, was vomiting violently.. even water wouldn't stay down. I compared the migraine to a crushed pointer finger bone at the gym, wasn't even close. The crushed finger was a 2 (on a scale of 1-10) compared to the aura migraine. I used to make fun of my sister for having these headaches and now feel like a complete turd.

    @Affiliatelinks She didn't just mess up words. She had a medical event called a Migraine aura. During which it paralyzes a portion of the frontal cortex of the brain. This makes the ability to process normal speech impossible. The right side of her face and arms went numb. This is not something to be taken lightly. I had an ex gf who had migraines such as this. it is very real and very unpleasant. Watch the video and her face, and the words, nobody normally could do that.

  • @FurryWulfz

    I get migraine aura sometimes. I can go periods where I don't have 1 for months, and then I get 3 in the span of 3 days. Or 2 in 1 day. I rarely get the numbness and speech problems though, it's always just the vision blindspots for me usually.
    It's weird. I want to see a doctor but the average doctor is an idiot when it comes to something like this in the UK, they just prescribe ibuprofen which doesn't help at all, tell you to drink water, etc. Like I wasn't doing those things already. Or they think you just have a bad headache.
    Migraines are massively misunderstood. Most associate them as just a bad headache which... is just a bad headache, not a migraine. I don't even care about the headache, but the aura is absolutely horrid.

  • @ritakarpati4134
    @ritakarpati4134 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That poor woman, bad enough to get an attack on its own, let alone on live television! People new to this condition usually dismiss it as "just a headache" until they witness you developing slurred speech and freak out that you have a stroke or another deadly illness. In reality, a migraine is something in the middle: it's not putting your life at risk, but it makes it harder. Like tiny mischevious leprechauns pushing buttons and squeezing knobs in your brain.

    her dad must own the tv station she works at - how else could she have gotten the job.

If I hadn't been there she would have died. She had brain surgery 2 times to remove the abnormality. She still has seizures to this day and can't work. @briane173 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you were listening to the dr. she said that the protocol is eliminating the most lethal possibilities first -- in this case the possibility of stroke. A brain scan is ALWAYS indicated for diagnosing a stroke. Having that as a starting point they were able to eliminate the most lethal possibility and work their way down through progressively less serious neurological episodes until they settled on migraine aura. Now you can define that as "overreacting" by diving into the worst-case scenario first; but I'd prefer that to the least invasive or least revealing test looking for the simplest thing first, and then losing valuable time working their way UP to the worst-case scenario. By that time one could be dead before they find out it was a stroke.

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@briane173 Right, they did not over-react for her. It was her first migraine, and a big one. So of course they are going to do a complete diagnostic on her. I've had migraines with visual aura for 40 years since I was 12, and never got checked out and never took medications for it. My mother has them too, or used too until she got past menopause. Now that I'm a lot older too, they have faded away for the most part, but still have one or two per year. They are more of an annoyance than anything else. Anyway, Serene will most likely now have migraines until she gets past menopause.
