    I know someone who finished just first year of uni ( not Russell group) due to financial problem, dropped out, took an apprenticeship. After 4 years now earning £70,000 (for a 25 year old). Little student loan to repay.
    So university can help you get good salaries but all depends on yourself and the job you secured. If you don’t like the university route, get a good apprenticeship in very big companies ( preferably No 1) and you will be well rewarded.

    • @ivdee
      @ivdee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Degree apprenticeships are incredibly difficult to get and even complete for most people. They are also rare and most are level 3 or 4 and for most part this will cap you in the future compared to those with degrees.
      A degree WITH relevant placement OR work experience is easily the best route generally for those going into education.
      I’d say outside the top 20/30 unis it’s almost vital to have placement or work experience. It will drastically increase enjoyment chances.

    But wouldn't the graduate salary depend on which type of grad jobs people get? I can go to a university with a £29K-£28K grad salary but apply to a £32K grad scheme.

    That's Impressive and all but there are good blue collar jobs out there as well. Ahem apprenticeship that can earn a similar amount to a degree job. For instance plumbers and electricans that most people overlooked. These tradesmen can earn over 35k in london and plumbers can get into gas engineering that can bring their salary up to 40-60k a year. Electricans can get into electrical engineering where they can also bring 40-60k a year. Bricklayers, carpentry can also bring similar amounts. So, never look down on blue collar people!! They are just as brilliant and they make society run!! And the most skilled ones can become self employed and be their own boss. 😤😤👍👍 guess what? Since it's an apprenticeship, you earn money while you learn. So no student debt!! Win win!!

    • @cloudsjoo
      @cloudsjoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely! This is very true, and blue collar workers can usually go straight into the workforce without having to spend time and money at university. It really depends on what your priorities are!

    There are 27,000 universities in the world. This year Leeds University is ranked at 86 the QS international tables which brings it within the top one third of one percent of world universities.. It is of course a Russell group university. The top 100 employers in the UK (ie The High Flyers' report which is viewable online) ) publish an annual ranking of the 20 universities whose graduates they favour most. In the real world this counts for quite a lot more than the often baffling and sometimes downright bizarre national rankings that appear in publications like the Times and the Guardian newspapers (Lancaster and Loughborough universities were consistently placed as top ten universities in the Times national rankings???!!! You have got to be kidding!!!).
    For 2022 the High Flyers' list places Leeds at number 5 out of 120 UK universities for employment appeal. Cambridge is ranked at number 7 and Oxford is ranked at number 10.
    As the biggest centre outside London for banking and legal services Leeds is the wealthiest city in the north of England with upmarket shops, restaurants and cafes. The university has an embracing and safe feeling campus 10 minutes walk from the thriving city centre. On and around the campus there is some lovely architecture and a buzzing social scene.
    Of the UK's 120 universities Leeds falls consistently within the top three for the number of applicants. With an impressive international standing for the quality of its research and a first rate social scene Leeds will always be a serious choice for a great many academically gifted undergraduates and postgraduates. Leeds is also one of the most international universities in the world.
