I'm genuinely overwhelmed with the amount of music Lanegan has put out, but in a good way. There's so much goodness that I already know and love, but there's just as much still out there that I've never even heard of yet!
I've only ever had the chance to see him live once in 2017 when he toured with Joe and it's one of my biggest regrets not going to speak to Mark at the merch stand just because my boyfriend didn't want to. RIP Lanegan

Yeah it's great that he's left behind such a mass of material that there's so much to dig into, would love it if he was still about though. He seemed super happy to chat to people at shows towards the end, you wouldn't have expected that from knowing his persona, or knowing his life! What an interesting guy...

Very nice selection. Blues Funeral is the only album I would've highlighted along with the others.
Glad you allso mentioned Saturnalia. That album deserves a lot more attention than it gets.

Yeah Blues Funeral is a banger as well for sure, I think everything from that album onwards is great to be honest.

I remember back then when Not Waving published "Last Time Leaving Home Part 2" feat Lanegan. He was still alive back then but this track sounded like a legit farewell and tore my insides out, to say the least.
Now, listening to it two years after his passing, it does always hit hard and it's really difficult not to tear up.
    Rest in peace, Dark Mark🖤

I haven't listened to much of the stuff with Not Waving, I think based on this comment I'm going to have to check out. Thanks for the recommendation and thanks for watching the vid.. RIP Mark.

Technically, Nickleback would sound like Screaming Trees😁....other than that, nice work, kid. Thanks for keeping his music alive. I was introduced to him through "Sweet Oblivion", but also to his solo work through "The Grunge Years" Sub Pop compilation in 1991. I bought "The Winding Sheet" immediately after. You should check out "The Grunge Years", and "Sub Pop 200" compilation too, if you haven't already...lots of good and forgotten bands...

Oh totally, that’s just how the sentiment was conveyed to me! Just to twist the knife. 😂 that compilation sounds rad, will check it out 🤘

Field Songs is several levels above everything else, but there's still plenty good stuff.

Very cool video...he did some things with PJ Harvey too. A great capture of ST era is 94 live on Jools Holland show "All I Know"....

What is your opinion on "Somebody's Knocking".?

I really like this one, admittedly need to spend more time with it, but it MIGHT be up there with Blues Funeral out of the later output. I really like Night Flight to Kabul. The only one I didn’t really get on with a lot is the Sweet Songs of Sorrow, just need to go back to it I think but didn’t find it as immediately captivating as other stuff of his

@@doodlereview wow interesting take. My wife got it for me on Vinyl and its definitely interesting and has some great tunes, my favorites being - Playing Nero, Gazing from the shore, Penthouse high and two bells ringing at once. Still, although I love all of Mark's solo work, I would rank this album on the lower end of the tier. I actually much preferred Straight songs of sorrow, gargoyle and blues funeral. Definitely give Straight songs of sorrow another listen, its totally worth it. Anyway, if I had to rate my top 5, they would be : Blues funeral, Scraps at midnight, Bubblegum, I'll take care of you and field songs.

Scraps at Midnight needs to go on my list first, it’s a weird gap that I’ve never filled ! Only album I haven’t listened to. Perhaps when I do that I’ll put together a tier list or something
