- FIRST LOOK: The Rogue is getting some changes from Nissan for 2024. On the outside you will discover a new front fascia, grill and wheels. On the inside there are upgraded materials and a new 12.3in infotainment screen. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged inline-3 that is producing 201HP. I’ve owned a 2017, 2021 and now I have a 2022. Of the 10 Nissans I’ve owned, I have NEVER had one single problem! I do maintain them properly and always keep the spotless. Consider your Nissan as a friend and family member and it won’t fail you!! I’ve proven it.
Yeah they wont give you a problem if you are only keeping them for 3-4 yrs.
Its a shit box
Nissan is the most underrated out of Japan’s big 3. I have 2 Pathfinders, no issues, one is a 23 year old and one is 2 year old.
But this year changed to turbocharger engine 😢

I am driving the 2023 Nissan Platinum Rogue loaded with features and technology, I have to reject a Honda CRV (which has poor technology poor interior). Trust me every time I drive my Rogue i feel that Luxury feeling in my beautiful brown leather interior ❤ It the best interior cabin right now in its Segment and I can bet its unbeatable 💪

@@Voltomess My Rogue doesn't have this problem. Iv'e others mention this problem, but my 23 Rogue that Iv'e proudly owned for two months has no gas smells on the inside. Iv'e even overfilled the tank a few times to get a bit more gas and still no gas smell.

The Rogues definitely upped it game over the last few years. It’s a premium vehicle now!

Your nissan rogue 2021 indepth video really helped me make the decision to buy one back then - 3 years and still love it! When you get a 2024 rogue - can you check if driver display still shows the map and the turn information on the heads up display? I am curious if they still have that with the new infotainment system.
I do not like the cvts on a Nissan but the engines are rock solid and they finally brought their dash to the future.
My brother in law had a Rogue. The transmission failed at 100k. Nissan wanted $8500 to replace. He now drives a CRV!!
Currently own a 21 SL Rogue. Textured wheel opening moldings and trim are awful in the short run for for fading out. Been saying forever that gloss black would be killer and they finally listened! Looks great with the 2-tone paint. I'd pull those roof rack moldings off and gloss black those too.
Try treating it with Nu-Vinyl once or twice a month.
@@marvinmurakami8828 That's ok, but just a temp fix. It'll always come back if you don't re-apply. Smooth w/clearcoat like the exterior is my personal preference over texture any day!
I like everything about this rogue except 2 things. One the engine interesting what they put under the hood. And the second everyone hates it the cvt transmission. That too got to go
You hit both nails on the head!
Zonk also the gloss black.

I'm a mechanic, over the years Nissan Rogue is one of the worst in terms of reliability. I can't speak for what it's like now but the generations before were utterly garbage. You ask anyone that works on cars and they'll agree. It's not just the CVT issue but safety stuff required to pass Virginia's annual safety inspection such as control arms, engine mounts, shocks ball joints etc. They fail way faster than any other vehicles, ive had to repair tons of these and i've always wondered what the hell materials were used that they break so soon. This is my list of the worst small SUV you can buy from the mid 2000's
1. Ford Escape
2. Jeep Liberty/Compass/Patriot
3. Nissan Rogue
4. Mazda CX 5
5. Range Rover Evoque
My shop has to do safety inspections and we see 1000 cars a month of different kinds roll in, so i know fairly well which ones are built well and which one uses cheap shit that breaks all the time. I'm sorry if you own one of these vehicles and i hope it's good to you, but from my experience, dont buy any on my list. Stick to the boring Honda/Toyota for less headache.
These have definitely improved tremendously since the mid 2010s CVT models. I'd still recommend Honda or Toyota but this isn't as worse as it used to be.
Mechanics say the toyota camry is the best vehicle to buy
Nissan, under Carlos Ghosn's leadership, did too much cost cutting. Now that he's been gone several years now, I think Nissan learned its lesson and their cars are steadily improving.
Hopefully they did improve because it’s definitely a good looking SUV
Some friends of mine that have owned recent Nissans have discussed their issues with me from bad alternators to head gasket leaks within the first 40k miles. My mom had an 05 pathfinder that had its transmission go out at 180k miles and my brother decided to buy a rogue sport. I hope he does have any issues with it but only time will tell
Nissan vehicles look pretty nice and they are doing better on technology and interior looks but their CVT transmissions are notorious for having mechanical problems after only about 40,000 miles, I would not buy one on a bet. Not sure what this particular Nissan has but many Honda's and Toyota's use an E-CVT transmission which is a lot better, if Nissan is smart they will upgrade their transmissions.
Previous CVTs were a problem but the matter has been resolved. I'm at 63000 miles on my 2020 Rogue and have had no issues.
@@1daful Resolved?! Reach back out if/when you hit 100k.
@@1daful Funny how there is always one or two people that lucked out with a good one, car sites that evaluate and test cars still say that many Nissan's with CVT's have problems. Just be glad that you got lucky!
@@Bowhunters6go8xz6x I didn’t luck out. I just bought a newer car with less issues than the previous ones. Is it really that hard to accept Nissan saw all the complaints and did something about it? 💁🏼
@@1daful Don't complain to me, complain to all the orgs that look at cars and report owners that have problems with certain cars.
I have a 2023 SV awd and I love it. Its fun to drive with the 225 pounds of torque and the 202 horsepower. And there is so much room inside.
My wife has a very nice 2021 rogue 4 cylinder, not liking the decline to 3 cylinder in all the new rogues. I also noticed that the drivers side if 2022/2023 ones is much smaller and tighter. Willing to test drive again but the engine bothers me
Don't let it be a bother it may sound crazy but the 3 cylinder has much more punch than the 4 cylinder. Speaking from experience my father had a 2020 rogue that ive driven as well and I believe they really didnt change the specs when they redesigned the rogue in 2021. We both now own 2023 rogues and the power difference is noticeable. Especially off the line you can feel the additional power from the extra torque that the turbo is producing. You will see for yourself when u test drive it and u will love the difference.
I like the new styling. It makes it look even more upscale.
I just had this car as a rental car for the my bay-area to L.A trip. It rides like a Camry, gets around 38 mpg on freeway and does most of the jobs well. It's about the same price of full size sedan, but you seat higher and get more room. So, I would recommend it as a solid rental for a weekend get away. Not sure I would buy it though...
I’ve owned 2 CRV’s a 2004 and currently a 2020 with a 08 pilot in between. I think this is much better looking even if compared to the new body style CRV. The aforementioned CRV is too vanilla in my book.
Here’s my problem with the Rogue… no engine option. I’m 67 and when I think of Nissan I think of performance whether it be a SER edition or something of that ilk. I’ll be in the market this coming fall and I might test drive this but I’m afraid that the lack of power and the CVT won’t sway me… but there is a lot to like here. Hard to get it all unless you’re willing to sell off a vital organ and I’m not talking a Hammond!
Thanks for the always entertaining and thoughtful review.
Black fender openings are for stone chip protection. Especially with AWD. The panoramic sunroof and Google maps in the cluster with all the tech. It's really nice. I never thought I'd like it, but I really do.
Nissan did a good job on this new Rogue. I'm thinking about buying 1 for my daughter as grad gift . Also, I don't mind the gloss black around the wheels, it makes it look a littler more
sporty.
Nissan really stepped their game up with the Rouge. Definitely need ventilated seats, especially since it's a platinum trim.

still CVT?
Rented a 2024 Nissan Rouge with 100 miles on 03/15 3 miles from my home Engine Malfunction screen lit up, the vehicle powered down to a crawl. I didn’t know theses are 3 cylinder 1.5 engine. 😳
I, too, wish it has ventilated seats. Not a fan of the chestnut, but it’s better than all black in the South!
A very nice update. Nissan is doing phenomenally well with the Rogue. I see them all over the place. Love these brown interiors. So sick of black interiors. The Rogue tends to be cheaper than the RAV4 and CRV, so i think Nissan is being sensible here. Companies rarely mess up their best-selling product.
Thanks Joe for this one I was waiting for you to showcase it to us. And can’t wait for it to go on sales!
Nothing wrong with the wheels, very cool.
The only reason I didn't get this Platinum Rouge was because it didn't have the ventilated seats. Went up to the new Sport trim Infiniti QX50 for a few $k more and more hp
Thanks for the video. I’ve been driving Nissan’s for over 30 years I start with Datsuns. I don’t like the fender trim either. Over all I love the suv
The chestnut interior is sharp! But no ventilation seats is truly a BIG ZONK! Come on Nissan!
very nice does not need i think in a smaller model suv ventilated seats. The power is now suffice with good fuel efficiency
CRV needs to take notes!!!
I rented one of these last week to come to the LA Auto Show. I really liked it, looks great, the engine was peppy, interior was really nice and comfortable. Had plenty of room. Ride was a little jittery on bumps. Felt like the back end lost its composure when I went over potholes. I averaged 32 mpg on the highway. Very nice size SUV but I don't think I would buy one if I was in the market.
We need a Nissan Rogue hybird and plug-in.
I was just thinking the same thing. Nissan needs a hybrid version of the Rogue that maybe doesn’t have that three cylinder turbo engine

Does the 2024 have the same problematic engine as is in the 2022 and 2023? (there's a class action lawsuit) Engine goes into Limp Mode when driving, including when on the freeway. yikes. Due to flaw in engine design. Also strong gas smell inside the car. And phantom braking. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Rogue's body style and interior especially the diamond quilted seats and floating console. Fingers crossed the 2024 has a new engine.
I really like to show more from the back the trunk under need. Thank you.
Hopefully the next rogue will come with ventilated seats as well as the 9 speed auto. Don't understand why cvt's are still a thing these day's.
Cue the comments on how great Nissan's cvt's and how you can't judge them without driving one .
I'm not a car guy who knows the ins and outs about engine. I just like cars for the way they drive, look, and feel in the driver seat. As an owner of a 2021 Rogue, I feel fine with the car performance, nothing that I wish it would do better.
What am I missing with the CVT vs Auto debate? I heard the CVT is for efficiency.
CVTs suck in stop and go traffic.
@@marajevomanash Can you elaborate? Do you have CVT and DCT cars to compare in real life? I have Rogue and BMW. My Rogue lags in stop and go traffic but it's smooth. BMW would jump from a stop. It accelerates much more than CVT but it feels like it skips a gear or to when accelerating especially in low speed traffic jam.
@@Ian-mv4qqUsed to own a Nissan Altima with automatic geared transmission and those were the best both in stop and go traffic as well as on the highway. Currently own a Honda Civic with a CVT and you never really get that feeling of fine control when stepping on the accelerator pedal that you get in an automatic geared transmission.
@@marajevomanash yeah I agree with the numb feeling when accelerating. Like it doesn't give you the feeling that you speeding up but the car is going 60 mph already. But in low speed, it's smooth. Maybe people don't rate smoothness and only focus on acceleration?
The only question is cvt or no cvt and that's all their is to make the choice
Current Nissan CVT’s are fine. It’s a shame Nissan still has a bad reputation for their terrible CVTs from the 2000s and early 2010s
Sometimes, you need that initial speed and then a pause in life to reflect on things. So automatic geared transmission it is.
What is the CVT feel like? any clunking?
I live on a mountain in a rural area. Yes, I have dirt roads. It's not uncommon for us to get 1 to 3 feet of snow. So my question to you is: how does this handle in mud and snow? Yes, I'm used to 4 wheel drive pickups (I'm a ford gal) but I'm looking for reliability and comfort as I'm 50 with several neck and back surgeries behind me.
That is a great question! I would go with something a little more stout.
3' of snow is a lot to handle for this vehicle. The seats are very comfortable for a bad back like mine. I have the sv model and the passenger side does not come with electric adjustments. Non vented but does have heated seats.
Thanks!
Very nice. The rouge looks better than the CR-V.
Best vehicle you can buy for the money.

I totally agree with you
@@RaitisRidesidk why they’ve waited so long for a new murono
Should have had it out 2 years ago for the murono
Like Joe, I live in the South and lack of ventilated seats is a non-starter.
Yeah because cars always had ventilation in the seats.
@@TheShootersBayNo, they do not “always” have ventilation but the Pathfinder does and in the Platinum trim would have been a great addition. Like I said, in the Deep South this matters.
@@JackSmith-qi7dr the pathfinder is in a different class. It cost 10-12k more of course it should have more bells and whistles.
I tried to lease a 2023 Rogue SL and they wanted 3000 with a payment of 680. I went to Honda and got the 2024 CRV EXL with 0 down and 460 payment. Why Honda was easier than Nissan???
I love ku 2023 rouge. All these people whining are just plain haters. I’ve had my 2017 maxima with the CVT, 80k miles on it. ZERO issues

I never thought I could place my 5 lbs cuties bag in that storage under the armrest. But yeah, loving my 2021 Rogue SL. Comfortable for long trip, peppy enough for city driving, great mpg. I really don't understand, or more like don't care about handling and how some people rave about the likes of Mazda CX5 great handling and performance. The engine in Rogue feels smooth, sounds good. No jerky feeling when slowing down. Or is it just the way I drive that is too smooth?
But really, this is a family car geared towards ride comfort more than anything. If I want performance/handling, I'd get some sport sedan.
I am so glad that I can bring it all to you!
The design is quite pretty but I would directly for the CR-V.
Good call

Did they fix the turbo so it doesn't make that annoying screeching sound? I love my 2023 but hate the turbo whine/screech. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I gotta run the radio all the time to keep me from losing it.
All of them do it or just yours?
@@TheShootersBay Apparently it is a characteristic of the turbo on these cars. I took it to the dealer and they confirmed it on mine then they got a brand new one they just got and it made the same noise. It's not "loud" but if you are driving below 40mph and let your foot off the gas, you will certainly hear it. I would describe it as the sound a belt makes when barely squealing. There is a definite twirling sound that goes along with it. It is audible when the car gets below 2000rpm, so that's why I mentioned coasting. 1500-2000 RPM is where it can be heard. The faster you drive, the less noticeable it is because of road and wind noise. I plan to go drive several soon and see if I can see a pattern myself. There has been several posts online I found about this. I just can't believe this made it through engineering and into production. I am really hoping it's maybe a bad batch of parts or maybe parts from one vendor vs another.
@@DavidTschoepe I think that those SV and above have active noise canceling and acoustic glass up front. Is yours S? If so, then this is the explanation why.
@@spol1622 That would be the first I've heard of this. Mine is the Platinum AWD. And the dealer I took it to never mentioned this. I've found several posts on Reddit discussing this "flaw" and those folks also pointed to the turbo. The dealer blamed it as a characteristic of the turbo. I plan to go test drive some others to validate his theory.
I’m interested to see how that 3 cylinder turbo engine holds up long term before I buy one. I don’t understand why in 2024 they are still using that horrendous CVT
