I’ll be honest, something that makes me want to play this game is all the negative reviews that go something like “I have *insert some number in the thousands here* and I’m out of stuff to do”. If I can get 1000 hours out of a game, I would be psyched. MMO’s are also hard on the console so any opportunity to get another decent one is welcome.
I have over 2k hours on it and haven't played in over a year. It's a good game, its just that there was no end game. I don't think they have added anything new to PvP in the last 3 years. The game was super buggy and when you had the massive wars, things would lag and people would disconnect. Then there were the politics with Companies. Eventually, territories were all owned by the same Companies, so unless you were part of those companies or were one of the companies to declare war, you weren't going to be chosen to participate in any wars. I did play the beta and I thought it felt and looked really nice which actually made me miss the memories I made with my old company mates. If your a console player who has never played it I would highly recommend it, I'm sure console players will probably love it. As for myself who has gone through the ups and downs of the game, I don't see myself coming back to it. I do wish the game success with console.
NW is/was my favorite MMO ever. 2k+ hours since beta and fully leveled 5 characters. It was a blast despite the mess. The game is so beautiful and has so much potential, unfortunately the incompetence/negligence of the dev team just breaks our trust at every turn.

For real! I played a little over 500 hours at launch and only quit because the pvp exploits were going crazy with no hope of a fix in sight. New world was and is still my favorite mmo experience by far. Ive played hundreds of hours of OSRS, RS3, WOW classic, wow retail, FO76 and new world just blows everything out of the water. I wish it didnt die when it did and I hope this launch revamps it
I'm happy for all new players coming to play. The best memory I had playing was in the beginning when so many players were in the world. It felt alive. It was super addicting at the start.
If you're new to NW, have fun! Just don't expect to be good at PVP right away. Its a small community and theres always a veteran willing to show you some stuff in duels. As a veteran myself, im waiting for the roadmap to come out to even consider installing again. Most of my 5k hours are in the first year of the game but damn I'm still recovering from how messed up that was. Maybe another year in the oven and it will be something you can safely spend 2-3 hours on every day and not run out of stuff to do. Scot Lane can retire anytime. I've been excited for Throne and Liberty to drop in the U.S but it got delayed until 10/1 (or end of Sept for early access). Happened to find the New World Aeternum beta in the Xbox store without even knowing it was coming to console! Definitely going to give it a shot this weekend. I've been craving a new MMO since BDO (which I've logged nearly 4k hours on). Best action combat I've ever played in an MMO but I really miss raids, dungeons, etc. that WOW and other MMO's brought to the table. In regard to games played over 1k hours, I've also put over 3k hours into Destiny 2, around 2k hours in Destiny 1 and the Lord only knows how many hours I spent in Never Winter, WOW, Aion and Tera back in the day! Can't wait to see more of your content, keep it up!
AGS should hire you to lead the marketing team. Having over 4,000 hours in the game. I would say this was a very inexpensive game. Hopefully they learned and will not let the players down again with poor marketing.
I encourage you to not, they just pull you in to get your money and then you get hooked and buy $20 skins then realize there is no end game and leave and they say thanks for the money onto the next victim
You got my sub bc you explained NWA very well. The thing that made me sure I would sub, was that you mentioned FFXI. I played FFXI on Xbox for countless hours. I loved farming items, crafting, and selling on the AH. I also enjoyed hunting NMs. I played that game a lot solo, but also as part of a group. I think I played it from 2001 to 2009/whenever they ditched Xbox. That was a game I enjoyed even at the thousandth hour, and played it well beyond that. The wrap up you did was very nice as well. It's true one can become addicted to a game. I certainly was addicted to FFXI for a time. I also like that you quoted the actual wolf of Wallstreet, Jordan Belfort. That was interesting. Look forward to other vids from you.
currently trying Thrones and Liberty, not pleased by the loot boxes and slow progression after main story. If not getting more interesting, I'll return to FF14 soon. NW Aeternum was considered by a friend who do not like FF14, seeking something to enjoy together. Looks kind of old and clunky but will give it a shot on a testing account. Full price just to try it is not an option for me.
Literally had a guy today on BELLATRIX server US West ranting about how trash the game is, that it’s a dead game and that the end game is terrible. Turns out dude had 4K+ hours. His argument for me was therefore invalid. He’s not the only one either. So many people (all on PC) bitching.
The loudest and angriest players have put so much time into the game they forgot why they enjoyed it in the first place. If you get 1k hours out of any game I’d say that’s a good game
I have a question about the controller support, I had abandoned the gane after 150 hours it was good but finky to play with controller , should I hop on now or after the update?
I got a brand new account yesterday and controller support is in there. I'm just trying understand gameplay and witch weapons are for me. Will probably jump on a new cross platform server and use the character as practice for that.
Audio hack: play elder scrolls ambient tracks while exploring/grinding to improve experience. What game can you put 1000s of hours into would go Skyrim till this day.
Did they fix controller support? When I played it was barely working. I played when it was a walking simulator they have mounts now. Been meaning to check it out again..
Took 3 days off for launch in October. I played the original launch and absolutely loved this game but got driven off because the state of the game. Played the beta and realized how amazing it is.
Well the beta just finished on consoles and tbh it was packed. For console players the chats were filled with so much positivity. It will be big on console. Can’t speak for PC but this will be big on console.
Amazing content man. I’ve been trying to find an action rpg mmo that resonates with me for a long time and this video pretty much convinced me this is it. Definitely going to give it a shot. Also, did you seriously bring up Marcus Aurelius in a non pushy way? You earned my sub man, keep up the good work!
But is it still buggy and breaks after every single update? I've given this game at least 3 chances since release and it's still massivly broken. I want it to be great, but at this point, fool me once!
The only things I would like to see added to New World aside from a few combat tweaks. When you are grinding out your harvesting skills, they need to add some client side materials. AKA all the mining, harvesting, etc. There needs to be a nice chunk that will always be there and only go on cooldown per player. When New World first came out, I personally chose to play on an empty server to grind out my trade skills. I was lucky to basically max them all out before the server I was on gained a ton of players. But then when the servers downsized and I had a few friends that wanted to start playing it I made a new character with them and I gotta say... fighting for resources without the "fighting" part was really rough. The other thing I'd like to see in New World is less BS with end game grinding. Example being IF I wanted to make the best armor possible I need to have 3 Major Trophies for Armorsmithing for example. Then I need to have a house to put them in. Then I also need to have specific armorsmithing skill increase gear and jewelry and food. The specific gear, jewelry, and food are easy enough to get just time consuming in some cases. But getting a house and the trophies is a nightmare. Furthermore they keep on raising or changing how the Gear Score works and completely invalidating anything and everything you try to make. Overall making money in the game is annoying because the only things of value have an absurdly low drop chance from the random crates you find on the ground in certain places. And aside from bots and cheaters that either spawn in items or just have an AFK bot running around 24/7, you as a normal player will pretty much never get these items. Last, going into the crafting system. There NEEDS to be branching paths to crafting. I shouldn't need THOUSANDS of Iron Ingots to make the highest grade Ingots. This is just using the Ore as an example but the same issue is prevalent with leather and plants. You need a ludicrous amount of the starting materials to go up the chain of materials to make the better materials. That just isn't how things work. No matter how much Iron I have, I should not be required to have iron in order to make something out of starmetal. It is "STAR"metal from Christ sake. Should have literally nothing to do with iron. So if there were branching crafting paths that use other materials to make the ingots instead of simply using the previous materials in ever increasing amounts the crafting system would be vastly improved.
I have around 2-3 thousand hours in league of legends over the last 13 years. I would say that game peaked for me at 1000 hours haha. I was finally pretty good and the game was in the hay day
Missed the beta but as an Xbox player I’m looking forward to the launch of aeternum. It’ll be my first time playing the game ever. I’m excited. If I can get my $60 worth, so like 40 or more hours, I will be very happy.
After a 6 months off from NW and return today to have a go and see how is it doing and nothing change. Still the same oprs laggy, abilities doesn't connect properly sometimes works good others u miss everything abilities do not connect properly, open world is dead but is normal because of the low players number unfortunately I think this console thing will be a fiasco. Ho well I had fun in the past and my 3k hours I had good memories and good time worths every penny I paid. Hopefully new players will have a good experience lvl up until they get to end game or after few 100 hours then is when the game really doesn't shine.

New World is 100% worth trying on console. Despite some rough patches. It's a buy 2 play MMO with a lot of content. Definitely nothing like it on consoles and it feels pretty unique even among PC MMOs. I'm going to come back and start from scratch despite having almost 1k hours in. Want to join the console players and try to welcome them to the game.

There is an achievement for playing 720 hours, only 4.1% of players achieved this to this date. 12/9/2024. Hundreds of achievements have less than 10% achievement of the overall player base, with many less than 5%. There is without a doubt, cost per hour is well worth it. 4K+ hours so far for less than 100 bucks in 3 years for all. Hands down enough said.

reasons to play: Great combat (probably the best action combat in an mmorpg), and it has a very pretty world. Reasons to skip: Player models look bad even on highest video settings. The crafting/gathering grind is far too big a requirement on the adventuring treadmill. I spent much more time trying to level up gathering skills than following a storyline/enjoying the combat. Notes: I was a day one player and put 2-300 hours into it. I put it down and came back again after they fixed the cut-and-paste cities, but got stuck on a bugged quest (I couldn't get the tier 2 camp because I had already done something that needed to be done before something else that needed to be done (I don't remember the details)) and quit again. So my experiences are very dated.
I played New World first time back late 2022 and Summer of 2023 for Elysian Wilds, I loved it, the leveling, made each build, (DMG, Tank and Healer each time and found fun in those roles) However, the part that made me stop is the endgame PVE, I couldn't play expeditions consistently and was difficult to find a group to build that gamer group to look forward to playing with and feeling accomplished. I hope this game comes back and some old friends return.
I played it at launch and always really enjoyed it, got about 60-80 hours in and was all a great time. Cant even say why i stopped just started other games and it got buried in the 'ill get back to it' pile. So this is a good excuse to re-download and get back into it
Regardless of whether or not you’ve played before, I encourage everyone to give NW Aeternum a chance come October 15th, especially the fresh start servers for returning players.

I will play when it launches. The journey of leveling and crafting to max was extremely fun...so a more refined version of that I'm all for trying. Whether or not I stick around will depend on the devs/communication and results.
No "mega" server seems bad. Then further separation if ppl choose no crossplay also seems bad for population longevity. Beta had no xbox or console only servers to try. Trying to play w friends in beta was already a pain in ass... idk
Dude, yeah, mega services are going to be an issue because players don't want to really deal with it... at least most players don't want that, I do think they're moving in that direction though. time will tell. For release they will have dedicated servers for console players just fyi, it didn't make sense to do that for a beta IMO.

The game does have player trade so people will label it as such because they can use gold to buy gear on the markets. But I don’t define that as pay to win, that’s just what an MMO should do.
@gingerlovesmmos oh for sure the player market is a point of interest for me. As long as it's not like neverwinter where the currency used on market.. can also be bought with real money. Currency only obtained in game then ya that's the game.
First, I love you man. I have been following you and this channel for awhile but this is (IMO) a prime example of toxic positivity. The developers straight up lied to its player base about features, constantly overhyped and underdelivered on updates. The argument about 1k hours is a moot point when the entire time players lived in a state of "oh they are gonna do better im sure". The fact the developers acted smug and unappreciative of the players who were effectively testing their game for 3 years only to have them pretend they were doing something for them and then get announced oh no updates cause we want console was a spit in the face to alot of us. Now they want to rebrand it as an "action RPG" because they can have a lapsed update schedule and not have to worry about doing what the game was sold to hundreds of thousands of players as. This video really feels like a sponsored video and I hope you understand the frustration videos like this create for players who loved this game and got crapped on by the developers. Good luck in the future man.
Why all the hate from players that had sunk 500-1000+ hours into the game? $60 games nowadays gives you about 100 to 200 hours and that's about it. NW can easily give you 500+ hours for casuals and you still talk trash about it like it didn't entertain you for more than what you paid for? People always have something to complain about. If you don't like the game just move on to the next, simple as that. lets all just support each other and have fun.

The idea of the game is good, its unique thats why many stay in the game for thousands of hours, but the game is laggy, lots of desync, bugs everywhere.
thanks for mentioning the story, there are some of us that care for it in general and in this game. Cant wait to see the new levelling improved story and experience too. after that literally all they need is to keep pumping new content with as few bugs as possible so it doesn't ruin the update.

Great vid man! Well though out and excellent presentation! Coming from a 1000+ hour player, I could not agree more. It's a fantastic game and money well spent for the adventures I had during my playtime.
Had good fun playing NW when it was released on PC several years ago but it had always lacked in certain areas, even basic functions which games of this genre came equipped out of the box with in 2005, despite these missing functions - paid expansion and seasons were introduced whilst bugs remained unfixed but I would say even with the issues I got tremendous value from NW considering it was not a subscription model game. I stopped playing on PC around 6 months ago and even if i never play it again it will be one of my most played games on steam by far.
Almost 4k hours into this game, since September 28th 2021, the very first release date. Loved the game, still love it a bit :)) I'm more of a PVP player, thank PVE but I really hope this time AGS will do things right. Step by step, but just so they will listen to this amazing community. Took me 1.5k hours before I quit new world. Fresh start came out and I put another 500 hours into it. Since then I haven't touched it but I would love any chance to come back and spend some time. Some of the best times gaming I've ever had.
im almost the same xD 1.5k and around 300 on fresh start.. i will be comming back cuz nostalgia of first month i played this game and cuz AoC alpha is only during the weekends at start gave me perfect reeason to hop back into this hopeing to atleast have some fun agian with this gamee even tho i i hardly belive soo
Just enjoy the game for what it is. Dont have your expectations high at all. If you want new thing just expect they won’t be added. If you want to give feedback just know you will be ignored. If you have all this as an expectation going into the game you’ll actually have a good time. But again set your expectations so low that you won’t be disappointed.
I have about 1k hours in new world. Honestly i want to try the beta for the re release, but i really dont want to level all my crafting again. I have everything close to maxed out but rune glass and furniture 😅 That took forever..... and all the faction rep for storage.
I played the beta and tried it on launch, and was not impressed at all. Was clunky and lack luster with weapons and skills. But looks better now maybe, might try it again after this new update (once it releases). And control support will be great.
How can you be as optimistic in this video as you were when the game got released? its going to be the same mess like before, a simple name change and re release wont change shit in their mentality.

It's not all doom and gloom. You underestimate how many more console players there are. The only issue I see with this relaunch is that it's not going free to play and I think that's the biggest mistake. But yeah this relaunch is going to be a big one and should be looked on very fondly.
Because this version is way better than what we got on launch ? pretty much my entire guide who left the game in 2022 we are so happy to play it again with so many improvments , we still have a end game problem sure but this is still 5x more content what we had on launch and ofc will be a mass later we still have the same devs but overall this game almost look like a complet game , what we got on launch was 100% beta version. No mount , so little tp , azoth problems , have to spam the fck chat hours to find ppl for dungeon , shitfest with no optimization for some resources and more .
This is really sound advice for anyone wondering. But I wouldn't call the game dying when the population dips, namely because that will happen, it just means the hype wave has moved onto something else.
Yeah, but a nosedive tends to be the norm for MMOs. People forget how many of the big MMOs today did the nosedive and then work to pull in more people over time. The trick is to not stop improving and updating the game, but not everyone has that ability.
Not typically an MMO player, but my idea of a perfect game is an ARPG that regularly gets new content. I'm definetly gonna try the beta since i really like the art style and the vibe.
New world is worth giving one more (last) chance with this re-release for sure. Give it some time as well, wait for the next big patches/content updates. Then make a decision. We need to see the new developers touch of the game, if it will be the Romanians or just a change with the existing ones doesn't really matter, the new approach we need to see.
I’ve got 700hours into the game and had fun but when things started getting frustrating when people wouldn’t stick around to complete expeditions ( they quit after 1 wipe ) I went to pvp to alleviate my boredom and when people got way to sweaty in the game I went into doing fun RP with people and then it went down hill when people just didn’t wanna talk anymore for some reason, they would rather attack and even if I’m unflagged they just wouldn’t wanna talk or even interact so I lost interest and then the biggest kicker was the first light remake that became a dlc to buy, I don’t wanna spend money on a zone that I’ve farmed my sellable herbs in, it’s still a Good game but I need a better reason to get back in either in the form of an expedition that gives rewards that really interest me ( fashion wise ) or a revamp to the zone I live in, windsward and I mean it’s gotta look gorgeous
1.fighting for crafting materials is not enough on map you can spend months to gather few mats 2.wars is garbage all benefits going to that player that control the zone (should be removed) 3,Rng Crafting u farm a lot for nothing if u are unlucky 4.meta garbage players ask for meta if u wana run dungeons on M+ you cant enjoy your builds if u don't have friends to play with 5.there so many reasons still to avoid but yea how u said the 7 reasons to play still awesome. well of course ppl have different opinions this is a bit of mine.
Before this update new world has been sitting at around 2500 average players. Why would i bother when i know it's going back to that in a month from now
I miss the release of the game and don’t think they will ever capture that feeling again. My original server and the wars were a blast. I came back to NW last fresh start and while I enjoyed the run through the server was terrible. Within a month it got merged and then prim pretty much dominated it, which didn’t bother me because I was on the same side but the server died off quickly at that point.
Your right dollar per hour for value was great, the console players will enjoy it and have a blast... up to the end game. It was fun while it lasted and well worth the money. However, I won't be participating. I stopped at the base game after maxing out several characters. Since I would have to buy two DLC"s just to experience Aeternum, well that just turns me off, as it will others I suspect. Plus the fact that the dev's never keep their promises. Nope, not coming back... New players and console players should have a good time.
I agree, I think it would be a really good thing for them to add mounts for everyone into the game, I'm 100% with you on that, but on foot isn't like it used to be, lots of fast travel options and you run faster on roads too.

As a player of New World that could have spent the same time instead to pursue a masters degree program, New World has my approval even tho AGS sucks sometimes. On the bright side, at least I'm not sinking in student loan debt!
I love collecting resources in the game and enjoy the tranquility of playing solo. It's my most relaxing game. I've spent 5,000 hours on it, lol. The visuals are great, and the music is nice too though.
i cant wait for the turkey leg dupe, currency dupe, musket bug, firestaff bug, gear score buff, crafting bug, and so much more. my kid right here is delulu since 2021

PS3 graphics. Absolutely awful combat. I’m thankful they released an open beta because it saved me some cash. I own it on PC and put in about 30 hours before I just couldn’t anymore. It’s pretty wack. Played console for 3 hours and it’s worse. lol
I got 1k+ Hours & a Love / Hate relationship with the game(dev team), but I literally cannot wait to hop into fresh start servers and experience NW all over again.
Dota 1 into dota2. Probably 8-9k hours into them, 4k respectively) and i honestly still enjoy it... alltho the community has its ups and downs. Hopin for NW tho! Never got past 45 at launch, all m8s quit. 🎉
haha long time dota player here since 2003. New world was fun pvp wise but the pve grind got boring. Then the pvp got old with taking forever to balance. Only because they left pvp alone and focused pve
This might be the reason why I don't get sick or bored with ESO. I am running four years behind so there is alwayssss PVE content to finish and thus' why I don't do pvp at all since I don't have time for it. Like you said: there is pvp to do while you wait for new pve content.
ngl was excited to try it but log off after an hr. The progression was all over the place and stale, kill x mbs farm x items. Skill tree was so bad with like 10 skills?
To anybody looking at this game and thinking it looks interesting, don't buy this game! The developers are liars and the game is buggy & broken beyond belief. They had so many chances to improve, but instead decided to do everything in their power to alienate their playerbase.
The game that you put thousands of hours into and it still gets better exists. Its path of exile. That said, its an indie game that evolved to a huge game and has its flaws. A lot of players say its hard to get into. Path of exile 2 starts in november with crossplay, splitscreen and so on. Thats the game that im the most excited for. New world was a lot of fun. I might go back, but atm i have no interest in going back, that said i did everything in this game and it feels like i played through it.

As someone with a third child on the way, then it's even more important that you invest some time in a good game. Go play GW2 if you don't want a sub game, but if you can afford a sub, go play FFXIV. He mentions FOMO in this game, there is no fomo, there is no endgame, there is no point. Heck even FO76 is doing better than this. For god's sake please don't sink money or time into this.
@@DiMAAcadia I really appreciate the advice, I have considered GW2 in the past, it looks good. FFXIV I hear is amazing, the art style funny enough isn't my speed. The draw I had toward New World was the combat. I really like action combat and MMO, so the two coming together made me happy. BUT I am actually really leaning GW2 or Elder Scrolls now a days.

If your a console player who has never played it I would highly recommend it, I'm sure console players will probably love it. As for myself who has gone through the ups and downs of the game, I don't see myself coming back to it. I do wish the game success with console.
NW is/was my favorite MMO ever. 2k+ hours since beta and fully leveled 5 characters. It was a blast despite the mess.
The game is so beautiful and has so much potential, unfortunately the incompetence/negligence of the dev team just breaks our trust at every turn.

For real! I played a little over 500 hours at launch and only quit because the pvp exploits were going crazy with no hope of a fix in sight. New world was and is still my favorite mmo experience by far. Ive played hundreds of hours of OSRS, RS3, WOW classic, wow retail, FO76 and new world just blows everything out of the water. I wish it didnt die when it did and I hope this launch revamps it
I'm happy for all new players coming to play. The best memory I had playing was in the beginning when so many players were in the world. It felt alive. It was super addicting at the start.
Same with brimstone update and fresh start servers. Absolutely wild.
If you're new to NW, have fun! Just don't expect to be good at PVP right away. Its a small community and theres always a veteran willing to show you some stuff in duels. As a veteran myself, im waiting for the roadmap to come out to even consider installing again. Most of my 5k hours are in the first year of the game but damn I'm still recovering from how messed up that was.
Maybe another year in the oven and it will be something you can safely spend 2-3 hours on every day and not run out of stuff to do.

I've been excited for Throne and Liberty to drop in the U.S but it got delayed until 10/1 (or end of Sept for early access). Happened to find the New World Aeternum beta in the Xbox store without even knowing it was coming to console! Definitely going to give it a shot this weekend. I've been craving a new MMO since BDO (which I've logged nearly 4k hours on). Best action combat I've ever played in an MMO but I really miss raids, dungeons, etc. that WOW and other MMO's brought to the table. In regard to games played over 1k hours, I've also put over 3k hours into Destiny 2, around 2k hours in Destiny 1 and the Lord only knows how many hours I spent in Never Winter, WOW, Aion and Tera back in the day! Can't wait to see more of your content, keep it up!

You got my sub bc you explained NWA very well. The thing that made me sure I would sub, was that you mentioned FFXI. I played FFXI on Xbox for countless hours. I loved farming items, crafting, and selling on the AH. I also enjoyed hunting NMs. I played that game a lot solo, but also as part of a group. I think I played it from 2001 to 2009/whenever they ditched Xbox. That was a game I enjoyed even at the thousandth hour, and played it well beyond that.
The wrap up you did was very nice as well. It's true one can become addicted to a game. I certainly was addicted to FFXI for a time. I also like that you quoted the actual wolf of Wallstreet, Jordan Belfort. That was interesting. Look forward to other vids from you.

currently trying Thrones and Liberty, not pleased by the loot boxes and slow progression after main story. If not getting more interesting, I'll return to FF14 soon. NW Aeternum was considered by a friend who do not like FF14, seeking something to enjoy together. Looks kind of old and clunky but will give it a shot on a testing account. Full price just to try it is not an option for me.

Literally had a guy today on BELLATRIX server US West ranting about how trash the game is, that it’s a dead game and that the end game is terrible. Turns out dude had 4K+ hours. His argument for me was therefore invalid. He’s not the only one either. So many people (all on PC) bitching.
The loudest and angriest players have put so much time into the game they forgot why they enjoyed it in the first place. If you get 1k hours out of any game I’d say that’s a good game
I have a question about the controller support, I had abandoned the gane after 150 hours it was good but finky to play with controller , should I hop on now or after the update?
I got a brand new account yesterday and controller support is in there. I'm just trying understand gameplay and witch weapons are for me. Will probably jump on a new cross platform server and use the character as practice for that.

Took 3 days off for launch in October. I played the original launch and absolutely loved this game but got driven off because the state of the game. Played the beta and realized how amazing it is.

Well the beta just finished on consoles and tbh it was packed. For console players the chats were filled with so much positivity. It will be big on console. Can’t speak for PC but this will be big on console.

The only things I would like to see added to New World aside from a few combat tweaks. When you are grinding out your harvesting skills, they need to add some client side materials. AKA all the mining, harvesting, etc. There needs to be a nice chunk that will always be there and only go on cooldown per player. When New World first came out, I personally chose to play on an empty server to grind out my trade skills. I was lucky to basically max them all out before the server I was on gained a ton of players. But then when the servers downsized and I had a few friends that wanted to start playing it I made a new character with them and I gotta say... fighting for resources without the "fighting" part was really rough.
The other thing I'd like to see in New World is less BS with end game grinding. Example being IF I wanted to make the best armor possible I need to have 3 Major Trophies for Armorsmithing for example. Then I need to have a house to put them in. Then I also need to have specific armorsmithing skill increase gear and jewelry and food. The specific gear, jewelry, and food are easy enough to get just time consuming in some cases. But getting a house and the trophies is a nightmare. Furthermore they keep on raising or changing how the Gear Score works and completely invalidating anything and everything you try to make.
Overall making money in the game is annoying because the only things of value have an absurdly low drop chance from the random crates you find on the ground in certain places. And aside from bots and cheaters that either spawn in items or just have an AFK bot running around 24/7, you as a normal player will pretty much never get these items.
Last, going into the crafting system. There NEEDS to be branching paths to crafting. I shouldn't need THOUSANDS of Iron Ingots to make the highest grade Ingots. This is just using the Ore as an example but the same issue is prevalent with leather and plants. You need a ludicrous amount of the starting materials to go up the chain of materials to make the better materials. That just isn't how things work. No matter how much Iron I have, I should not be required to have iron in order to make something out of starmetal. It is "STAR"metal from Christ sake. Should have literally nothing to do with iron. So if there were branching crafting paths that use other materials to make the ingots instead of simply using the previous materials in ever increasing amounts the crafting system would be vastly improved.

I have around 2-3 thousand hours in league of legends over the last 13 years. I would say that game peaked for me at 1000 hours haha. I was finally pretty good and the game was in the hay day

Missed the beta but as an Xbox player I’m looking forward to the launch of aeternum. It’ll be my first time playing the game ever. I’m excited. If I can get my $60 worth, so like 40 or more hours, I will be very happy.

After a 6 months off from NW and return today to have a go and see how is it doing and nothing change. Still the same oprs laggy, abilities doesn't connect properly sometimes works good others u miss everything abilities do not connect properly, open world is dead but is normal because of the low players number unfortunately I think this console thing will be a fiasco. Ho well I had fun in the past and my 3k hours I had good memories and good time worths every penny I paid. Hopefully new players will have a good experience lvl up until they get to end game or after few 100 hours then is when the game really doesn't shine.

New World is 100% worth trying on console. Despite some rough patches. It's a buy 2 play MMO with a lot of content. Definitely nothing like it on consoles and it feels pretty unique even among PC MMOs. I'm going to come back and start from scratch despite having almost 1k hours in. Want to join the console players and try to welcome them to the game.

There is an achievement for playing 720 hours, only 4.1% of players achieved this to this date. 12/9/2024. Hundreds of achievements have less than 10% achievement of the overall player base, with many less than 5%. There is without a doubt, cost per hour is well worth it. 4K+ hours so far for less than 100 bucks in 3 years for all. Hands down enough said.

reasons to play: Great combat (probably the best action combat in an mmorpg), and it has a very pretty world.
Reasons to skip: Player models look bad even on highest video settings. The crafting/gathering grind is far too big a requirement on the adventuring treadmill. I spent much more time trying to level up gathering skills than following a storyline/enjoying the combat.
Notes: I was a day one player and put 2-300 hours into it. I put it down and came back again after they fixed the cut-and-paste cities, but got stuck on a bugged quest (I couldn't get the tier 2 camp because I had already done something that needed to be done before something else that needed to be done (I don't remember the details)) and quit again. So my experiences are very dated.
I played New World first time back late 2022 and Summer of 2023 for Elysian Wilds, I loved it, the leveling, made each build, (DMG, Tank and Healer each time and found fun in those roles) However, the part that made me stop is the endgame PVE, I couldn't play expeditions consistently and was difficult to find a group to build that gamer group to look forward to playing with and feeling accomplished. I hope this game comes back and some old friends return.
I played it at launch and always really enjoyed it, got about 60-80 hours in and was all a great time. Cant even say why i stopped just started other games and it got buried in the 'ill get back to it' pile. So this is a good excuse to re-download and get back into it
How is the Multiplayer?
For me its great, 5 man teams in dungeons, 10 man raid, 20 man trials, and the open world...

No "mega" server seems bad. Then further separation if ppl choose no crossplay also seems bad for population longevity. Beta had no xbox or console only servers to try. Trying to play w friends in beta was already a pain in ass... idk
Dude, yeah, mega services are going to be an issue because players don't want to really deal with it... at least most players don't want that, I do think they're moving in that direction though. time will tell.
For release they will have dedicated servers for console players just fyi, it didn't make sense to do that for a beta IMO.

The game does have player trade so people will label it as such because they can use gold to buy gear on the markets. But I don’t define that as pay to win, that’s just what an MMO should do.

First, I love you man. I have been following you and this channel for awhile but this is (IMO) a prime example of toxic positivity. The developers straight up lied to its player base about features, constantly overhyped and underdelivered on updates. The argument about 1k hours is a moot point when the entire time players lived in a state of "oh they are gonna do better im sure". The fact the developers acted smug and unappreciative of the players who were effectively testing their game for 3 years only to have them pretend they were doing something for them and then get announced oh no updates cause we want console was a spit in the face to alot of us. Now they want to rebrand it as an "action RPG" because they can have a lapsed update schedule and not have to worry about doing what the game was sold to hundreds of thousands of players as. This video really feels like a sponsored video and I hope you understand the frustration videos like this create for players who loved this game and got crapped on by the developers. $60 games nowadays gives you about 100 to 200 hours and that's about it.

The idea of the game is good, its unique thats why many stay in the game for thousands of hours, but the game is laggy, lots of desync, bugs everywhere.

Great vid man! Well though out and excellent presentation! Coming from a 1000+ hour player, I could not agree more. It's a fantastic game and money well spent for the adventures I had during my playtime.
Had good fun playing NW when it was released on PC several years ago but it had always lacked in certain areas, even basic functions which games of this genre came equipped out of the box with in 2005, despite these missing functions - paid expansion and seasons were introduced whilst bugs remained unfixed but I would say even with the issues I got tremendous value from NW considering it was not a subscription model game. I stopped playing on PC around 6 months ago and even if i never play it again it will be one of my most played games on steam by far.

Loved the game, still love it a bit :)) I'm more of a PVP player, thank PVE but I really hope this time AGS will do things right. Step by step, but just so they will listen to this amazing community. Took me 1.5k hours before I quit new world. Fresh start came out and I put another 500 hours into it. Since then I haven't touched it but I would love any chance to come back and spend some time. Some of the best times gaming I've ever had.

Just enjoy the game for what it is. Dont have your expectations high at all. If you want new thing just expect they won’t be added. If you want to give feedback just know you will be ignored. If you have all this as an expectation going into the game you’ll actually have a good time. But again set your expectations so low that you won’t be disappointed.

I played the beta and tried it on launch, and was not impressed at all. Was clunky and lack luster with weapons and skills. But looks better now maybe, might try it again after this new update (once it releases). And control support will be great.

It's not all doom and gloom. You underestimate how many more console players there are. The only issue I see with this relaunch is that it's not going free to play and I think that's the biggest mistake. But yeah this relaunch is going to be a big one and should be looked on very fondly.
Because this version is way better than what we got on launch ? pretty much my entire guide who left the game in 2022 we are so happy to play it again with so many improvments , we still have a end game problem sure but this is still 5x more content what we had on launch and ofc will be a mass later we still have the same devs but overall this game almost look like a complet game , what we got on launch was 100% beta version. No mount , so little tp , azoth problems , have to spam the fck chat hours to find ppl for dungeon , shitfest with no optimization for some resources and more .

Yeah, but a nosedive tends to be the norm for MMOs. People forget how many of the big MMOs today did the nosedive and then work to pull in more people over time. The trick is to not stop improving and updating the game, but not everyone has that ability.

New world is worth giving one more (last) chance with this re-release for sure. Give it some time as well, wait for the next big patches/content updates. Then make a decision. We need to see the new developers touch of the game, if it will be the Romanians or just a change with the existing ones doesn't really matter, the new approach we need to see.

I’ve got 700hours into the game and had fun but when things started getting frustrating when people wouldn’t stick around to complete expeditions ( they quit after 1 wipe ) I went to pvp to alleviate my boredom and when people got way to sweaty in the game I went into doing fun RP with people and then it went down hill when people just didn’t wanna talk anymore for some reason, they would rather attack and even if I’m unflagged they just wouldn’t wanna talk or even interact so I lost interest and then the biggest kicker was the first light remake that became a dlc to buy, I don’t wanna spend money on a zone that I’ve farmed my sellable herbs in, it’s still a Good game but I need a better reason to get back in either in the form of an expedition that gives rewards that really interest me ( fashion wise ) or a revamp to the zone I live in, windsward and I mean it’s gotta look gorgeous
I’m back in love with new world. Played 300 hours at launch and got driven off. This beta has been amazing they did a great console port.
The main issue will be the end game piece. Not much to do without a 10 - 50 man dedicated squad. Also the 725 gear grind is pretty ugly.

1.fighting for crafting materials is not enough on map you can spend months to gather few mats
2.wars is garbage all benefits going to that player that control the zone (should be removed)
3,Rng Crafting u farm a lot for nothing if u are unlucky
4.meta garbage players ask for meta if u wana run dungeons on M+ you cant enjoy your builds if u don't have friends to play with
5.there so many reasons still to avoid but yea how u said the 7 reasons to play still awesome. well of course ppl have different opinions this is a bit of mine.
Before this update new world has been sitting at around 2500 average players. Why would i bother when i know it's going back to that in a month from now
I miss the release of the game and don’t think they will ever capture that feeling again. My original server and the wars were a blast. I came back to NW last fresh start and while I enjoyed the run through the server was terrible. Within a month it got merged and then prim pretty much dominated it, which didn’t bother me because I was on the same side but the server died off quickly at that point.
Your right dollar per hour for value was great, the console players will enjoy it and have a blast... up to the end game. It was fun while it lasted and well worth the money. However, I won't be participating. I stopped at the base game after maxing out several characters. Since I would have to buy two DLC"s just to experience Aeternum, well that just turns me off, as it will others I suspect. Plus the fact that the dev's never keep their promises. Nope, not coming back... New players and console players should have a good time.
You wouldn't need to buy two things, just rise of the angry earth, and you don't also need that to see the vast majority of changes.

I agree, I think it would be a really good thing for them to add mounts for everyone into the game, I'm 100% with you on that, but on foot isn't like it used to be, lots of fast travel options and you run faster on roads too.

As a player of New World that could have spent the same time instead to pursue a masters degree program, New World has my approval even tho AGS sucks sometimes. On the bright side, at least I'm not sinking in student loan debt!

I have put 2000 hours into eso so may be I can get the same out of this. Still have not done everything in eso but they keep adding to it.
Does this game have leaderboards? Like guild rankings pvp rankings etc?
I love collecting resources in the game and enjoy the tranquility of playing solo. It's my most relaxing game. I've spent 5,000 hours on it, lol. The visuals are great, and the music is nice too though.
I've played BDO over 17k hours and sometimes it really feels as exiting as it was on day one :)
i cant wait for the turkey leg dupe, currency dupe, musket bug, firestaff bug, gear score buff, crafting bug, and so much more. my kid right here is delulu since 2021
As a console player I'm definitely going to invest some time into this title as there's very few options for MMOs on console and it's actually fun and interesting
PS3 graphics. Absolutely awful combat. I’m thankful they released an open beta because it saved me some cash. I own it on PC and put in about 30 hours before I just couldn’t anymore. It’s pretty wack. Played console for 3 hours and it’s worse. lol
I got 1k+ Hours & a Love / Hate relationship with the game(dev team), but I literally cannot wait to hop into fresh start servers and experience NW all over again.
I give them a next chance.

Dota 1 into dota2. Probably 8-9k hours into them, 4k respectively) and i honestly still enjoy it... alltho the community has its ups and downs. Hopin for NW tho! Never got past 45 at launch, all m8s quit. 🎉
haha long time dota player here since 2003. New world was fun pvp wise but the pve grind got boring. Then the pvp got old with taking forever to balance. Only because they left pvp alone and focused pve
This might be the reason why I don't get sick or bored with ESO. I am running four years behind so there is alwayssss PVE content to finish and thus' why I don't do pvp at all since I don't have time for it. Like you said: there is pvp to do while you wait for new pve content.
ngl was excited to try it but log off after an hr. The progression was all over the place and stale, kill x mbs farm x items. Skill tree was so bad with like 10 skills?

OSRS is a game that after a thousand hours you are arguably having more fun then you ever did before.
To anybody looking at this game and thinking it looks interesting, don't buy this game! The developers are liars and the game is buggy & broken beyond belief. They had so many chances to improve, but instead decided to do everything in their power to alienate their playerbase.
The game that you put thousands of hours into and it still gets better exists. Its path of exile. That said, its an indie game that evolved to a huge game and has its flaws. A lot of players say its hard to get into. Path of exile 2 starts in november with crossplay, splitscreen and so on. Thats the game that im the most excited for. New world was a lot of fun. I might go back, but atm i have no interest in going back, that said i did everything in this game and it feels like i played through it.

As someone with a third child on the way, then it's even more important that you invest some time in a good game. Go play GW2 if you don't want a sub game, but if you can afford a sub, go play FFXIV. He mentions FOMO in this game, there is no fomo, there is no endgame, there is no point. Heck even FO76 is doing better than this. For god's sake please don't sink money or time into this.
@@DiMAAcadia I really appreciate the advice, I have considered GW2 in the past, it looks good. FFXIV I hear is amazing, the art style funny enough isn't my speed. The draw I had toward New World was the combat. I really like action combat and MMO, so the two coming together made me happy. BUT I am actually really leaning GW2 or Elder Scrolls now a days.
