And a lot of artificial flavors are added to create a since of aged tequila. So I give it a 2 out of 10. Código blanco is so much better
I like the Reposado. 1942 is good too of course. I still have my old bottles I bought years ago. I was getting 3 reposados for $60. Have not bought any of the newer stuff. I sip the reposado.
Tequila and mezcal has a centuries old pedigree and you’re saying that tequila tasted like moonshine until Don Julio came along? The centuries old tradition of mezcal production was just a tradition of making fire water moonshine, according to you. It’s also amazing that you say tequila was trash before DJ came along, but La Alteña distillery was founded by Don Felipe Camarena Hernandez in 1937, 5 years before DJ’s distillery opened. Don Julio now puts out mediocre product that exists to satisfy the sweet American palate. Tequila shouldn’t be “smooth”. Don Julio’s grandson put out a blanco tequila to show that the family can still produce good tequila, and that is what a tequila should taste like, not this crap.

Like Don Julio, Casamigos product fell off once they started to blow up. You sacrifice quality for quantity once it gets popular, so you can mass produce at a jacked up price. I still enjoy DJ añejo, but there is a noticeable difference after the buyout.
Don Julio is a very good tequila. I don't think it's the best tequila, but still pretty good. Sitting in front of a live mariachi, while slowly sipping away an entire bottle of Anejo.... well, it's just awesome...
@Erick Tellez yeah Fortaleza refused to sellout they only make small batches which is why you can't get it everywhere which sucks cuz I have to pay extra for shipping but the quality is worth it

My go to daily tequila is Don Julio brands. Don Julio silver, reposado, añejo, Don Julio 1942 and Don Julio 70. Of course for special occassions I go to the hand made, traditionally made tequilas like Fortaleza and Siete Leguas. Stay the hell away from celebrity tequilas, all garbage, inferior product made in questionable methods and with added chemicals and artificial flavoring. PURE CRAP!

Do they use a diffuser?(Yes) Are they diffusing 2 1/2 year old immature agaves?(Yes) This is a product where every bottle tastes EXACTLY the same as every other bottle of that expression. THAT is unnatural to tequila. It is the Gallo of tequilas. Tequila, like wine has a Vintage. Agaves grow slightly different every year. That is why the really fine tequilas, such as El Tesoro, Tapatio, G-4, Arte nom 1146, Fortaleza, Lalo and many other non additive tequilas will taste different batch to batch and year to year. And all of the aforementioned tequilas put any Don Julio expressions to shame. This video is just a commercial for a British liquor conglomerate. The more you know the less you will like brands like Don Julio. These guys are sloppy and it shows when they produce a video where Reposed is mispronounced time after time. Few will reject a glass of 1942 but it just doesn't quite taste like tequila..

Unfortunately the Don Julio réal was discontinued last year and scalpers have jacked up the price on remaining stock.
