  • This is the new video guide to replacing Toyota ignition barrels.
    Our last video upset some people as it was a guide for removing the ignition lock from the barrel if you had the key. We didn't discuss in enough detail what to do if you didn't have the key. Hopefully this video clears that up.
    You can find available locksets on our website here:

    Hopefully I can use this knowledge to remove the one on my 1980 cressida. I tried to start it this morning and it got jammed into the start position. I'm guessing 3:51 is what happened to me 🙃

    Hi there, I’ve got an early ke25, and it has a different ignition barrel than the replacement ke25 one I got, I’m guessing they changed it in the facelift ke2x series. Have you come across this? I need a new one/the one I have repaired

    Ever had any experience with replacement barrel and key assy bought from Ebay..??
    Tried to fit one but it simply will not go in all the way.
    Looked at it every which way but buggered if I can see what is stopping it.
    Next attemp will be to put some bearing blue on various locations to see if I can narrow down the offending misfit piece.
    So currently I have re-installed the old one with the problem that when one hits a bump, the key falls out on the floor due to the really badly worn barrel.
    BTW...your refurbished web address doen't work anymore.

      Yes, the link doesn't work because I closed the business down. So I no longer refurbish them. My most recent video will probably explain why. 😅

    your clip is on a corolla, but it is a toyota. the ignition lock cylinder (barrel in aussie talk) on my 2003 landcruiser just turned without much resistance or start, while with all kind of dash board lights flashing. i removed the lock cylinder, upon inspection there is no visible damage or breakage, still i had a locksmith looked at it and he said nothing is wrong with the lock cylinder. i next removed and replaced the ignition switch, part of the ignition lock housing. i reassembled and reconnected the battery and turned the key and nothing. the key easily slide to start position without starting the engine. (it's not the starter or fuel issue to begin with) anyway. i am stumped as what to do next, i thought the ignition switch was the culprit., but not the case here. please advise what is the most plausible issue with not starting, considering the lock cylinder is ok, and with a new ignition switch. thank you.

    How d you remove the lock housing i need to replace that in a 1987 Toyota pickup

    • @NooB-Celica
      @NooB-Celica  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a bit tricky. They are held in with security bolts. Best methods I've used are to either hammer and chisel the edge of the bolt until it starts spinning, or chisel a groove into the bolt to use a flat blade. You can try drilling them out too but you have to be really careful not to slip and take chunks out of the housing.
      One the bolts are out, just replace them with button head allen key or torx bolts

    Yo I gotta bit of a problem with 85 corona, can't start the car cause the every time i turn the car to acc it locks the key and I can't turn it any future, any simple fix for this or will I need a new ignition barrel

    • @NooB-Celica
      @NooB-Celica  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a worn key. Getting a new key cut might fix the issue, what's your key look like? Nice sharp edges or are they are rounded off?

    • @arctictwist4846
      @arctictwist4846 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty rounded, started fine the other day, any way I can send you a vid of what's going on

    • @NooB-Celica
      @NooB-Celica  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arctictwist4846 hmm. I'd say your ignition barrel is stuffed. But as long as you can turn to accessories with the key, you can pull it out and have a locksmith fix it.
