Some Indonesians still sees Timor Leste as "ungrateful province". Nevertheless, most just let her go independent. Relations between two countries still good, since Timor Leste is still dependent on Indonesia for most of its resources and services.
I understand that Timor Leste being a predominantly Christian nation that is geographically within an otherwise predominantly Muslim country which is indonesia is the very reason why Timor Leste is being sidelined by indonesia. Nice. I'd also like to add that while the Asean is obviously nowhere near the EU in terms of success in regional integration and cooperation, they are in fact the Second most successful regional organisation in the world after the EU if we compare it to other organizations in Latin America or South Asia.
Although it appeared only in 2015, and still handles less money than Asean, the EEU might be more successful in establishing common policies between member states, as it is much easier for citizens to travel among them, get a job, study or start a business in another member state, and the EEU is likely to establish a schengen like free movement policy (which isn't even on Asean agenda). As for currency, it is pretty streamlined, since almost all the trade is done in rubles, while asean trades in dollars and that makes it dependent on external factors as well.

I’m from Brunei Darussalam 🇧🇳
All the ASEAN countries must be protected by the international laws, no war, no encroachment and no taking over another country
You are miss aLOT of things in ASEAN. You miss ANCM , ASEAN - Russian meeting , ASEAN - EU meeting , ASEAN + 3 meeting , EAS , ASEAN regional Forum , ASEAN + 6 , ASEAN summit , spectators etc.
This is just a short overview of the organization. It doesn't need to go into that much detail to be understandable

Ah-Seah-An
Here In Indonesia We Pronounce It As "ASEAN"(No Ah, Sey, Yan)
So, Asean, Not Ahseyyan Here.
@@ionnryx so.. How do you pronounce it?
@@meatballmanreal Hmmm, Idk. The A Is Not Ei, Se Is Not Si, An Is Not Ain. So, Asean. Thats How My Country Say It.
A Is Not Ei, But I But Not Ai, Only A.
Its Hard, You Need To Hear In Voices.

That pic in 2:11 it's not ASEAN HQ tho, those building are Japanese Embassy in Jakarta.
4:02 This joke is highly underrated.
Yes. I am from a country part of ASEAN so yes
The backbone:
Economy: Singapore
Military: Indonesia
ASEAN Politic: ???
Rice field: Thailand
Speaking Tree: Vietnam
SEA: Philliphines
How about Malaysia
SEA sea
South East Asian Sea 😗👌 Perfecto
2:26 that's a day before Singapore's national day!

Oh Hi! Im from Malaysia! We are building the world's second tallest tower! Merdeka PNB118 :D just slightly over 200metres shorter than the burj kalifa :)
Yay :)
I always pronounced ASEAN asian and I don’t know why
The South China Sea issue is so big for ASEAN that even ongoing territorial disputes such as Sabah (Phil. vs Malaysia) are essentially forgotten
Nah the Philippine government has bigger issues to deal with.
Happy ASEAN Bangkok Declaration Day
it's good to know about my own home country is in the organization and the one who started (Thailand)
Indonesian here🇮🇩

Honestly, as someone who lives in a country that is in asean, I don't even knoe what it does. We just heard about it in school because for some reason schools need to do that. lol, my friend in university even thought that "asean" Is just a word in our native language that means "asia". He wrote it for our report about asian countries and that report requires us to write it in our national language (even though English is not our national language, usually we use English in universities) and I have to correct him for using asean.
I believe that in the future, ASEAN and the EU shall continue to expand until they covers all countries in Asia and Europe. Then ASEAN and the EU shall merge together.
Germany: *Nein* , we don't want to unite with some Scheiße Loch countries (referring to Myanmar and Laos)
Bro how old are you
You do realise even if they are powerful enough to invade others, they would still get liberated by USA right
East Asia and Eurasia are permanently at war though.
Hi from Philippines in South East Asia
The Philippines is the Turkey of The ASEAN, that country seems to be the most underperforming for its stats.
That's probably just biased though.
nope
Philippines: Hold my progress
@@harchiehirondo8156 "progress"
Nah ur somewhat right
Greetings From INDONESIA🇮🇩

You should do a CARICOM(Caribbean Community) Explained video
No we Filipinos pronounce it as Aseean
I guess the lifting of visa requirements in most of these countries is the one thing that I benefit the most from... I kinda wish more of these international organisations took similar approach :)
All ASEAN member states have visa free access between each other
6:02 I’m pretty sure that that’s Putin at the middle
Yes it is, it even reads "ASEAN-Russia summit" above him.
5 founders ASEAN
1. Thailand
2. Malaysia
3. Indonesia
4. Singapore
5. Philippines
6:30. Welcome to Vietnam,my "beautiful" country :>
this is sad because the video is underrated
ASEAN is not the EU
It's the Balkan of the East
Needed this for my research. Thanks. 🤨🍿
