Evelyn, I adore your sewing insights, for myself I find clothes a necessity for the sake of decency and the weather. I sewing quilts, dog clothes, cushions, teddy bears because clothes have held no interest. However, watching and learning from you has peaked my interest in clothes. Next time I go to charity shops I will be keeping an eye out for things to alter for myself. Your creativity is magical, a delight to watch and you have the most beautiful face. It radiates kindness, thank you Take care Kim x
Brave move to use such a heavy fabric and then gathering it like that. I love the tie detail in back. I am getting some inspiration here. Might be time to dust off the ol' Singer. 😉
I love how the ties look like they should always have been there, and don't look 'incidental' at all. Love watching your shows, especially the practical episodes.
Wow what a beautiful dress the ribbon looks very nice , You inspire me to get back to my sewing , I have so many clothes I need to alter to fit properly too .thank you !
What a fabulous video! I can’t believe how you made this up the day before the wedding!!!! You look amazing and are very very talented! Terrific!!! I would never have been able to pull this off in one day! Brava!!!
That color! I know everyone's display is different, but whether this is true to life, or pulls more peachy or blue, it is a fabulous color for that texture. From here it looks like blush meets pink dogwood petal.
I loved the video and the dress. I'm SO glad you mentioned how long it took and how many fittings, etc, because non-sewists think that I whip up my dresses in a flash !
Tina YES!!! It takes time to make it perfect! Many fittings are involved along the way to get it to look fantastic as oppose to just ok! I always underestimate time for a 'new' style as oppose to one I know I fits and have made before! I decided to make sure I added that so new sewers are not discouraged when it takes to long to get it right! It's normal! xx
Even with a pattern, you need to spend the time to make the garment fit YOU. Especially if you are doing something for the first. Love the sleeves on this dress.
I'm very happy to hear you're inspired by my work! I want people to be inspired and get excited about the things they can make for themselves! You make your own vintage reproductions, what era d you like?
Haya Evelyn. How are you? Really beautiful dress, the sleeves are lovely as is the back detailing. I have not sewn Velvet for a while, as it can be a little tricky. Yes it would be great if you could do more of these videos as well as the ones you already do. AAWWW Esme is a cutie pie. Thank you for sharing. XX
Thanks so much for watching Anna! Esme is always around, just out of frame! This video has been so popular that I definitely will be doing more like it, with even more details on behind the process!
Aww I'm glad to hear it! I hope to inspire others so they might catch the sewing bug! I hope you do! I think the thought process is important, that's how you really learn to think and create something yourself!
You have the most beautiful skin. Your neck and collarbone area are so lovely and those lower round necklines show them off to perfection. Girls, pay attention, use your sun screen so your skin can look like this. Beautiful dress. I really enjoyed seeing your process. I have done a lot of sewing in the past, but I have taken a break from it. I made doll clothes for 18 inch dolls. American Girl type dolls. I got into that from buying a vintage pattern reproduction from Simplicity, about 12 years ago. I loved the design process. Your collections are making me want to try sewing vintage for myself. Wonderful stuff.
I love this dress, the contrasting colours, the pretty back & those epic sleeves!! I hope I can make something equally as beautiful someday! Very inspiring. Thank you.
Your channel is so fun to watch! I love the way this dress turned out with the changes. Now I want a dress with those kind of sleeves. And that belt...fabulous!
Best video yet :) I'd love to see even more detail and process steps! Also I can't believe how quickly you cut into your fabric... you must be so confident after years of sewing. I would have made 5 toiles before doing that!
Thanks for watching Toni! Yes, I think next time will include even more detail of the process! I usually ALWAYS do toiles! But, I had limited time, I started from one of my own patterns I knew. I knew the sleeves would not be a problem to make on the fly, I did anticipate the skirt would need tweaking and left extra room for that. But the skirt was just a lot more work than I thought to get right on the bias!
This color. Oh my goodness, the color is simply stunning on you! I was blown away by how ambitious the project was (for a single day!!) but how successful and stunning the end result was. I love the sleeves! I love the shaping on the back, and how perfectly the sleek shape of the skirt hugs your curves~ The velvet is the perfect material for this, because it has that luscious pile and also the stiffness of the cotton to lay smoothly without wrinkling. What a wonderful job!!! The whole outfit was amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this!
4 years after you uploaded this video and still most impressive. behind the scenes is what i needed to overcome discouragement with my own dressmaking efforts. i am actually on the right path, lacking skill knowledge to make needed adjustments for proper fit. THANK YOU!
This turned out beautiful. I love the sleeve style as well. I chuckled when you said it took 3 fittings. It took me 7 and I was just modifying a stretchy blouse! Was worth the work though.
So funny at first! "I'll just design and make a new dress for a wedding tomorrow." 😆 You could tell by the end of the video that it may not have been the best idea. 😉 It turned out beautifully, though.
I admire how you dress up differently in every video. Do you sew all those dresses that you wore ? They are impressive gorgeous😍🌸. I love your personality as well. Anyway, may i ask a question about video making, what camera and mic that you use ? Because the videos that you produced look so professional😍❤️
oh eve, you're gonna make jealous: you get to dance with a pretty dress =D I had an intensive dance weekend and as a result, woke up with a tendinitis in my right shoulder =/ No dancing, no sewing for me for at least a month... You better keep the videos comming to entertain me =D I like these spontaneous projects!!!!!!
Oh no!!! That awful!! 2 of live greatest joys stamped out... I hope you have a speedy recovery! I will make sure to keep you entertained over the recovery period!
Wow! I love the dress. I think I would have put the black ribbon on the bottom of the dress too. Love love love ❤️ the sleeves. I just found your channel so I’m excited to see what else you create.
Two of the things I love about 1930's fashion is epic sleeves and strong shoulder lines, and you nailed both! I'd love to see more "making of" videos! And holy frick, I could hear the weight of the fabric when you dropped it on the table and I swear it's almost as heavy as the velvet I once used to cover a pair of boots. Edit: I just realized that this is from 2017. Whoops.
I really loved this video! I make sewing/vintage videos, myself, and there was so much helpful information here! I'm not as experienced, though, and it's really just a hobby for me (although I would love to be a full time dressmaker!) Also, there was a lot of comforting information. I thought I was the only one that sometimes needs multiple fittings, haha! And a lot of my techniques are the same or similar to yours, which was a joy to watch because I live in an isolated bubble of self-taught uncertainty. I'm a new subscriber, so I'll just be casually bingewatching your videos tonight. Glad I found you!
Thaks so much for watching!! Yes, I think that a lot of new sewers think they are doing it wrong and don't realize that there is more than one way to do everything!! And to make up a new pattern, and get it right, it can take a lot of fittings!!! This is normal! I am glad that you are reassured by this! I hope you get to be a full-time dressmaker! xx
It was fascinating to watch your process and to see the design evolve. I'd definitely like to see more videos like this. Your dog was too adorable at the end!
It’s so much fun watching you work! I’m sad that as a dressmakermyself, these skills are a dying talent. My girls had no interest in learning to sew. Thank you!
Hello Evelyn, I'm discovering you today and I love your videos, I have not yet seen all but they are very pleasant to watch and very informative. I love your creations although I am more attracted to earlier periods. Keep us dreaming. Thank you Tiz
That was fun to watch your process, thank you! And oh goodness...the dress came out amazing. I hope you revisit this dress in another fabric and show the alterations on it.

I love the back with the tie. Also the cut on the bias was brilliant. I'll bet you danced all night.😄
THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING THING IVE EVER SEEN. Im literally clapping out loud at my computer.
Those sleeves are GORGEOUS !!
Thanks for watching Lauriane! Definitely the feature of the garment!
I love those sleeves!
Definetly epic though! Heavy to wear too! But soooo fabulous!
I sew all the time but I find I enjoy watching others sew so much. You’re particularly fun to watch with your bubbly personality. Very entertaining!!
You give me courage to experiment more!!
The end product is incredible. The sleeves are so flirty and feminine.
You are so lovely!
Aww thanks so much! it turned out really great! And I really want to make this again!
You have immaculate taste. Love your style!

This dress is sneaky. With the cape on, you might think it'll be a bit dull, but then BAM! Sleeves with Attitude! And then BAM! Sassy Flash Of Back!
haha I love that!! Yes, I almost thought it was plain until I finished the sleeves, and wow!
I loved the sewing!
I wanted the jazz band downstairs to finish rehearsal.
I enjoyed the behind the scenes look at your sewing and design process. Do more please.
I hope you liked the behind the scenes look! I think this is could be my best-edited video yet! What do you think?
Evelyn Wood Well done. It's beautiful.
Thanks so much for watching!
Wonderfully edited!
Brave move to use such a heavy fabric and then gathering it like that. I love the tie detail in back. I am getting some inspiration here. Might be time to dust off the ol' Singer. 😉

I just found your channel and I'm so excited!! By the way your pattern weights are the bomb!!

Your dress is gorgeous so stunning! Thank you for your hard work and for sharing!

Thanks Zina! It should be very soon!
I love a dramatic sleeve. The flower could me more centered on the sash for me but overall, its quite lovely :)
loved this video....loved seeing the process of a new garment from scratch, learned a lot, you are SO inspiring!

Utterly amazing Evelyn! Totally envious of your skills.
Aww thanks!! Just lots of practice!
You are a sewing genius! What a masterpiece! Gorgeous
The tie on the back might not have been planned, but I like the look and would have assumed it was meant to be there if you hadn't told us it wasn't.
Two of the things I love about 1930's fashion is epic sleeves and strong shoulder lines, and you nailed both! I'd love to see more "making of" videos!

You're dress turned out beautiful! Enjoyed the behind the scenes.
Thanks for watching Linda! I'm happy you liked seeing the process!
Wowza! 😊. Gorgeous!
Lovely job.
As usual you make some beautiful dresses. I love the plaid dress. I don't like my dresses to tight around my mid section until i lose some weight . I can see also that in sewing you have to have patience. I love the way you explain everything. Thank, you.
Thanks so much for watching! I am a details person! And it is definitely patience and persistence and practice in sewing!
