    What vision you have. I see a boring 90's dress, and you see a 20's ravishing dress---and make it happen. That was some transformation, I love it! It's beyond me how to hem something that fans out fluttery---you did it perfectly.

    We had a player piano when I was growing up. We had that tune! I know all the words! Dark twin Strutters’ Ball! Love it! My father put a piece of newspaper behind the hammers inside, so it made a great sound, like cymbals with a brush stick! Memories!

    Hello Evelyn! Great concept for a channel! Having worked for many years as a Costume Designer, many of these hacks are familiar. Besides having the necessary skills of sewing and tailoring, you have to be able to see possibilities in a garment that has the proper silhouette- or could result in a period correct silhouette. Knowing about details like seaming, trim, prints and fabrics allows you to zero in on the best garment and assure those results. If you're like me you've spent a lifetime studying, reading, researching and looking at clothing details and the History of Costumes because it is our passion. Finding the right shoe or the right trim is exciting for people like us! Good job!

    What a fabulous alteration! When you put that collar on first it instantly lifted that dress. The only thing I'm not sure about is the overlap of the collars at the shoulder. You look wonderful in this dress. Whats not to like!

    That's the advantage of different eras borrowing styles from older fashions - it makes it that much easier to turn them into the garments you actually want. That being said, it still takes a great eye to see potential in an otherwise unremarkable dress from the seventies! I absolutely loved the final result - that bow was the perfect finishing touch.

    • @Evelyn__Wood
      @Evelyn__Wood  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello from Connecticut.You are absolutely delightful! I have seen all your videos and have loved them all. I love especially all the good sewing techniques you are teaching. I also love the fashions of the 20's, 30's and 40's, many of which I am selling in my Etsy shop because now I am a few sizes larger. Please keep refashioning thrift store finds, I am learning so much about what I should do to some of my less than wonderful purchases.

    Great :) I really like the darting at the back, it really helped with flattering the figure but it still didnt make it look much out of place for 20s... i would probably prefer it without the bow for myself, but that is a simple detail. I love the fluttery sleeves :)

    • @Evelyn__Wood
      @Evelyn__Wood  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Yes, I didn't dart it too much, just enough to bring it in a little and make it a little more flattering for the modern eye! But still 1920's style!

    Hello Evelyn! I absolutely LOVE your videos! Your voice is so soothing and not exaggerated or forced like some, you keep it interesting and fresh throughout, you have great stage presence, you choose music to suit the outfits and honestly the whole show is just delightful. My mother always did these kinds of transformations when I was a child and consequently I too would dream up outfits ( in my head) that I would transform into something new from clothes of people sitting in front of me on the bus. I took a lot of buses so I had lots of time to let my imagination run wild!! I am looking forward to watching ALL of your videos. I was unimpressed with the dress on the mannequin but when she put it on it was such a perfect 20s look, surprised at the difference. I think it's due to the fall and movement of the dress, stationary 20s dresses just dont look the same as flowing ones
