I cant thank these ladies enough for gifting me such lovely treasures, I hope you enjoy seeing them too! Also... any guesses on what that dangly pendant is made from????
This is the video I loved and remembered the most for the blue silk fabric from Rose 🌹 that looks like the fabric my Dad brought back from Hong Kong during the Vietnam War 😇
You could try cleaning the lace by soaking in a mix of tepid water and washing soda crystals with a little dish soap. It really softens water and helps 'float' stains off things. It may shrink a little but if you can't clean it you can't use it so it's worth a shot. Lovely collection of goodies you lucky dog! My mouth was watering!
I’ve seen something posted on Facebook where a lady uses old wedding dresses to make little dresses for babies that passed . They were beautiful little dresses! You really got a lot of beautiful gifts.
What lovely gifts! I know you will create amazing pieces out of them. Please post if you do. You are such an inspiration. I just started sewing 1 year ago and your channel has inspired me to just go for it! Just try, cut the fabric, learn from my mistakes and celebrate my wins.
I would love to see a video of the ways you tie your scarves, particularly the one in this video and one you wore with the fringe hanging down beside your face. There was another one, too, that had more large loops, kind of like large bumps, that was quite beautiful. Thanks. I learn so much from your videos. Keep up the good work.
My mother gifted me her Enid Gilchrist pattern books from the 1950's and 1960's. These books show you step by step how to draft patterns for babies, children, ladies and men in a range of sizes. Included are a bunch of patterns for the types of 50's dresses which require multiple taffeta petticoats. Until I reached High School my mother knitted or sewed all my clothes including school uniforms. As I am asthmatic she got special permission for me to wear long pants in winter but had to draft the patterns herself because boys didn't wear long pants then. How things change. I was able to adapt a lot of patterns for my tomboy daughter who hated wearing dresses or anything pink.
1930's beach pajamas!! I fell in love with the look when I discovered it while researching the era. I think we should definitely bring it back. And the lovely fabric has such a nautical feel. Lucky you!
I think you are so blessed. Wonderful gifts. The necklace piece looks like hammered nails, black smith type, possibly horseshoe ones . I loved the wedding dress, the silk oriental fabric and the Singapore coat!
I Love so many of those things. The chandelier necklace is made from Horse shoe nails. I Love it. and so much is spectacular. I have a piece of Chinese Silk in grey that I got at a flea market. so beautiful.
You have the perfect voice to do an asmr video. I see a lot of celebrities making an asmr video just for fun. A vintage shopping haul, whispered, would be so much fun! You have the sweetest gentle spirit! I love your channel!
Ms. Evelyn, I so love watching your videos. I don’t know, I feel relaxed and your videos are so engaging.I’m not a fan of vintage, but looking at you on your vintage style, you look so gorgeous❤️
Hello Evelyn, thank you for sharing. Really enjoyed your company and will be keeping an eye out for how you turn all the fabrics into new creations. Take care Kim x
Hi i love your videos. I've just got back into sewing. Mainly because I needed a lot of face masks. Now I watch you all the time. And I fell in love with sewing. I'm in my sixties and finding sewing very therapeutic. I love watching your thrift hauls.
Lovely gifts from kind viewers and delightful to see your gratitude. I’d definitely make a pretty top from the wedding dress lace....it’s beautiful. Thanks Evelyn and happy new year. 🥂💕Deb
You know I thought the same thing when you lifted up that navy and white material. Then I thought those , I believe someone , called them sailor pants. The high waisted ones. What lovely treasures you received. Thanks for sharing all of them with us. Thanks, Debbie
That’s like the best bunch of Christmas gifts ever 👍 I got a bottle of wine and a book. Oh well. Try again next year, I guess! Although that’s not true...my little nephew made me the cutest little heart shaped pendant...I think it’s meant to be a Christmas tree ornament, but I‘m soooo going to wear it as a necklace!
How lovely! People have so many pattern books from McCall’s and what have you that I have even seen them wadded up as packaging tissue around plates and dishes n a box at a garage sale! I can get them for pennies, my home state still has affordable charity shops and I actually do a lot of trade and barter. Maybe we could start an Ms. Woods sharing club, getting old patterns out of people’s attics, along with the silks and buttons and fancies, to share them among one another and bring our heart’s delights to life! I love this look of yours today dear. When I do up a rescued doll in your likeness to give to a child in need, I am at a loss, shall I do you in turban or beret?
What great gifts! I'm sure someone already said nails for the necklace. About the little beaded bag, though, you could sew around it to anchor the crochet an inch below the damage, cut it off, then add some luscious matching/coordinating fabric above that to replace the damage. Would probably be a lot less time than having to undo the whole thing to salvage the beads. Just a suggestion. I absolutely adore your green top and scarf; love the color and the fit of the top.
enjoy your site ,I thrift for quilt fabric as I am on a very small budget but have also remade a few sundresses, wishing Canada wasn't so far as I have a few pieces of vintage trim and doilies I would give to an appreciative home. In regards to the wedding dress, make the sender a small heart shaped pillow with a bit of lace and fabric as a keepsake of her ancestors dress..it would be a great keepsake. Thankyou for your information and enthusiasm..love it!!
Lmao #hoarderlife 🤣 I'm glad you thought the pattern was as cute as I did. I loved the comedy bit with the tattered pieces. I promise you that's how I received it. You have some beautiful pieces there.
Ha ha 😂😂 I totally forgot to tell you about that! (As I was sure you had no idea!) It dosnt matter I'm sure Ill be fine with just the pattern! I loved it, thankyou 😚😚
those necklaces were gorgeous! and the satin silk fabric (the blue one) with the light brown/beige silk bath/home robe to lounge in.. omgosh! my mouth was watering, lol
The satin robe is so lovely.... and looks to be in great condition. 👍 I have a little kangaroo made of horse shoe nails, Your dangly thing? - (It's made from horse shoe nails). 😁
I don’t know if you’ve made a video of this topic, and I’ve missed it, but some of the satins made me think of slips and vintage inspired intimates. If you’ve made them before, it would be great to see a video on your techniques and what kind of patterns/process you use. I love slips!
OMG! That wedding dress is so gorgeous! What a gem! It's crazy to see what size clothes woman wore those days. I was in a vintage clothing store in Brussels this summer and saw the most gorgeous vintage dress, but unfortunately, I couldn't get the zipper closed. And I'm skinny, but man, how skinny did woman used to be back then! Same with the shoe size, all beautiful vintage shoes are for teeny tiny feet it seems :-p Anyhow, can't wait to see your next refashion were you re-use one or more of these items ^_^ Have a great new year!
@@geministargazer9830 That seems logic. I already thought it must have been something biological, 'cause I can't imagine a whole generation of women being skinny just for the sake of it. That doesn't seem logic to me :-p. But it's mind blowing non the less. :-) Thanks for the information though! :-)
The necklace is made of horseshoe nails! We use them in stained glass to hold the caned pieces as we work. Love your scarf and it goes so well with your new robe! Which is beautiful! The necklace collar - was that tatted lace? So many nice "new" things for you to play with.
Do you have a video on upsizing patterns. My husband bought me patterns that are too small, vintage 1950s style dresses. I've watched 3 videos already but I'm still confused. Your videos explain things in a way that's easier to understand.
Love seeing your videos! If you end up taking apart that little beaded bag, deffo be sure to take a few pictures beforehand just for preservation's sake (but I'm sure you know that lol)
I love the beach pjs idea. I immediately thought the same thing when I saw it. I have some similar fabric packed away somewhere. I'm embarrassed (not really!) to say that when we moved last year I ended up with 25 packing boxes full of just fabric and trims etc. I am going to start sewing again this year, mainly thanks to your channel. You inspire me. I expect that if you ever moved you would be much worse than me 😂. Have a Happy New Year Evelyn!
the unique piece is made of square nails used in the 1800's for horse shoes as well as carpentry (found some in my 150 years old house, and my former husband used to shoe horses).
Horseshoe nails! The necklace is made from horseshoe nails. I have a friend who's husband make interesting things from horseshoes. And of course we have plenty for friends who ride and own horses 😊🐎🐴 Mindygrace

Thank you so much Evelyn, what a fabulous amazing amount of stuff. And the lace is really stunning and gorgeous. xxx Mags
I love your fashion style. That blue silk is so pretty. And the '30s pattern would look good in the polka dot.
Horseshoe nails!

Love the green sweater with the “horseshoe” neckline. Belt buckle is a beaut.

Horseshoe nails. :) my stepmother and dad have wedding rings made out of them. :)

The wedding dress is so beautiful 😍
I took my 1973 and 1992 wedding were to an eco-friendly dry cleaners and was amazed at the job they did.

They look like railroad spikes just smaller. They could be square nails before being used in 1900's construction. But it still looks like fun.
I like the video very much it was fun to see it
You could do something with pleads with the bold stripes, so it'll look like dark blue and when the pleads open the white colour is showing out.

the unique piece is made from the nails that go into horse shoes. I had some jewllery made like that years ago
Those are horseshoe nails, or actual proper antique nails, as they also had a square head, but given rough age I’d go with horseshoe nails
