A solid tip for the Viper for Fox-2 is to change the mode from Slave to Bore. Slave limits the maximum axis of the 9X to the radar gimbal. Bore allows the full 90 degrees. This means that you can get a lock before the target is in the WEZ, and then fire as soon as the situation is better. It also means your WEZ is greater than you may be used to and it increases the opportunities for kills.
Oh I always assumed he knew it but he was using the radar still so he would have ranging information. I just hold down the enable switch when i need to do a really off-boresight shot because while you hold it down the aim-9 switches to the other mode

Apparently fighter pilot aren't trained to engage helicopter pilots, but helicopter pilots are trained to engage fighter pilots. It'd make a good fight but I'm sure it'd be heavily skewed in the helo's favor unless at very long ranges or high speeds

Very hard to get a lock, and also any time you're pointed below the horizon you have a specified 'time to die' so you have to pull a valid shot and recover before that time or you'll be rejoining with your own shadow, or catching a stinger from a helo, have to do it all again, or some combination of the 3. Lol best advice would be to just stay out of the situation and let ground forces, sam's, or an attack helo take care of it.
@@quinndenver4075 real life speaking everyone has their own job so if you decide to just go and engage a helo someone has to make up for where you are not. So it's a very hairy situation best avoided entirely
you can directly slew around the heatseeker on the fox2 missiles using the "Cursor Enable" bind and with the aim9x you actually get a bigger tracking cone than with the radar. So you dont have to lock them up then then unacage the missile.

The Warsaw Pact hated the idea that NATO nations would have an inexpensive and potent counter to the threat that they posed to Western Europe. It was a brilliant play on the part of the USAF.
It would be about the same as against the flanker. Thing is DCS compared to real life has been described as more draggy according to real life pilots so everything underperforms a bit. Now they have fixed that with the f16 in some way but they haven't fixed it with the old fc3 modules so they are underperforming and are un realistic. So take the result of these fights with a grain of salt
Love all your videos - May I suggest you alternate aircraft with your opponents? Doing so, will identify what the aircraft brought to the fight versus the pilot.

You Russian pilots drink vodka at preflight, It definitely makes a difference at the end of the engagement. Generally, post ejection you float down to the trees with your ass on fire.
One more idea that might be cool - a running total of the price tag of aircraft you've lost versus aircraft you've claimed - a different take on score!
This is the video that tells me everything about the improved Viper and why so many other fighters afterwards were built to counter either it or the Eagle.. it's beyond amazing to say the least. Also, would have been nice to have another view of splatting that pilot from an external shot XD
7:21 the Flanker was inpatient, he pulled too hard to get a solution on you but Flankers like to enter a spin after hard pulls. Although he was able to escape a manoeuvre kill, he had no chance to get away with it. It's next to impossible to beat the Falcon in a rate fight on the deck, he could have tried pushing one-circles and possibly break sight.

That's an Annular blast frag warheadwith 20 pounds of boom going off. Its specifically designed to carve up airframes like a roasted chicken. He didn't even look or fly like he had been damaged. I wonder how DCS models shrapnel. IMHO he shouldn't have survived to fire that Archer at ya.
In dcs. What would happen if the enemy pilot somehow ejected and the seat with the pilot hit your aircraft? Would the game even register what was happening? Would it damage your aircraft and kill the other player? Might be a funny video. Try to eject and get a kill with your body and seat destroying the enemy aircraft

It looks like modern high off-bore missile close combat is basically a suicide for both opponents, regardless of maneuverability. And they are both restricting themselfs by NOT shooting before the merge, because it would be an instant suicide bor both of them 90% of the time. Great channel.
Its good to see the F-16 getting the FM that it deserves based on IRL specs. The F-16 is supposed to be lethal in a knife fight. The USAF already had the F-15 for air superiority in BVR, they wanted a light fighter that could do multi-role and take on threats that broke through the MAR where the F-15 may not have been suited to fight in. Fun fact, the program that delivered the F-16 also delivered the F-18 to the Navy, both prototype designs were accepted under 2 different branches and designations, and both are still incredibly lethal in a fight to this day, despite being 1970's designs.

@@debbiestimac5175 Its a r replacement for the Harrier not the F-18. Why not the F-18? Because its SINGLE ENGINE, the US Navy requires 2 engines for carrier ops due to redundancy and the ability to fly a damaged aircraft (regarding engine damage) back to the fleet.
