Dear Caroline and Graham. I have only just come across this video of your delightful layout. You have captured the flavour of a small working Yorkshire coastal town abolutely beatifully. I am envious, in an appreciative way, that you have achieved this better than I have with "Ghylldale". I can just see the little trains threading their way through the winding valleys which open out onto the North Sea coast, providing a life-line to the isolated farms and hamlets which are almost inaccessible by road. Lomg may ot run!
Hello John, I posted this video a long while ago so I have not kept-up with comments recently, I do apologise. Thank you for your lovely comments. All the inspiration for "The Whitsend Tramway" came from visiting the area and seeing "Heartbeat" on TV each week. I would have liked to capture the effect of the tall cliffs on the Yorkshire coast, but with an exhibition layout, that is not possible. I have seen "Ghylldale" many times and I can see the similarity between the layouts. You too have captured the Yorkshire atmosphere. "Whitsend" has now been sold to build new projects (we are not sure if that was a good idea or not, but needed the space!). I hope to post a video of our smaller layout soon. Best wishes, Graham & Caroline
Beautiful layout. I model in 009 too and it has just the atmosphere that I'm trying to catch. Not a real place, just somewhere that feels like it could be.
A fantastic layout, this is what I aspire to and am just in the planning stages for mine ! what make of buildings have you used ?, they look great. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Stephen, The rails were painted with a thin wash of Humbrol brown colour enamel (110 I think) just to take the shine off them, then wiped along top edges of rails. Couplings used were original Egger-Bahn type on the bogie coaches, and Bemo on the other stock. This layout was sold 9 years ago.

Hi. Supervisor 👍

Great 009 layout. I see you’ve left the rails unpainted, does it improve running and minimise track cleaning? Also what couplings are you using?

👋💐😍😍😍🎄😍😍😍😄👍
Hpw did you get that tram?
The locomotives were built by Paul Windle of Hull (now retired). Coaches are old Egger Bahn OEG coaches made to look more British.
