I come back to rewatch that part just because it hits me like that. It was really hard for me to hate ANYONE in Fate/Zero, mainly because all of them had a reason to act the way they did or had a quality that made them a lot more likeable. UBW i only really cared for Illya.
Whoever did the visuals for the vid chose some really great images for lines that Kariya and sakura are featured on. The pic with adult sakura is painful, in the end Kariya vastly overestimated his abilities and lost his original motive, muddling his objectives with his end goal.
Even in the end Lancers master chose to save his wife over winning the grail. (Though we all know how that turned out) He might be a piece of shit, but he is a piece of shit with somewhat of a heart.

seiji fujii I obviously knew that already. Gilgamesh is my favorite anime character after all. And while yes, he is a villain in Fate/Stay Night, he isn’t one in Zero. In F/Z he’s more of a neutral character. He doesn’t really do anything that villainous, but I wouldn’t consider him a good guy either. While everyone else is fighting to the death, he’s just chilling in the basement and drinking 5000-year-old Babylonian vintage wine.

Fate is definitely the best Universe. It has Awesome openings, endings, OSTs, Story, character and of course Animation. It may be my favorite Fantasy anime
Now imagine that this is just the part of a gigantic world, created by Kinoko Nasu and Takashi Takeuchi (even though they suffer from the same disease, that hit lot’s of other creator from Japan - syndrome of parallel universes, when you unstoppably creat lot’s of parallel universes of one fandom) Also, about animation and story - I hope you speak about Stay Night/Zero of Ufotable, not Apocrypha of A1 and Last Encore of SHAFT, right?..
Mini Scooter mostly now all Fate franchise is pushed by Grand Order with a support of “type Redline” (koha-ace remake) and “Strange Fake” (I could also add Requiem, but...uhm, there isn’t so many known about it, so..yeah...) Yeah, Fate can be amazing, and mostly it is. I am still excited by Strange Fake, FGO after Atalantis lostbelt just blew up my mind, but Apocrypha didn’t do this (though the animation is screwed up by A1, and about story...you know, after FGO x Apocrypha event, Sieg as supportive character is great, but as main character - nope), so as Last Encore (which was fully explained in bonus book by Nasu). To sum it up - Fate is good and interesting, though sometimes even dare to mess with itself and break the rules.

An excellent show with very compelling character writing. I took the time to rewatch it recently and the experience was incredible. It serves as a good standalone series if you do not feel like watching other Fate material. The action, writing, and soundtrack are all great and have aged very well.
