I know pure comedy brilliance and soooo funny! My side was sore from laughing so hard, especially as that whole pocket bit between them, kept escalating! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don Adams was the same whether he was in “Get Smart”, a sketch like this, or a guest on Johnny Carson. I don’t call that acting. He was just being himself.
This is timeless - almost 60 years old and it holds up like magic today. As great as the beginning of the skit is, it just gets better and better. What a great last minute. All-around great, clean humor. Can't be beat.

Not one comment mentioning the set, so I will - look at that set! The level of detail and accessorizing went way beyond the demands of the skit. It looks like CBS poured a huge budget into the early years of this show.
Her styling was much different in these first 3 seasons. The make-up and wardrobe created a zany look for her that still reflected the current style trends in almost every skit. From season 4 onwards she had a much more sophisticated look - esp for the opening and the musical numbers. Carol was thoroughly entertaining throughout all 11 seasons, though, no matter how she looked. Thoroughly hilarious
Yes, she starts looking more sophisticated and timeless, especially the opening gowns. There are some brilliant Mackie gowns that are beyond their time, they would still be glamourous on a red carpet today.
There is, but get out your wallet, and get ready for it to start smokin', from what I understand. It's been a while since I've priced the series, though.
"I'm about to ask you three questions, the answer to any one of which may disqualify us from further life together!" I promise the writers did not put the sentence together that way, it's pure Don Adams.
@@DaveLH Yeah, I was wondering too. Then this skit must've been one of their first shows on the air....I know that the Carol Burnett Show ran from 1967-1978.

I rarely carried a pocket book but I did when I went to Atlantic City with a friend. I put the pockbook down to take some pictures and just forgot about it for like 10 min, when I went right back to the last place I had it the purse was gone. I went right to the police made a report, they told me I'd never see it again. I said I knew cause I was a security guard. My mother latter that night kept saying how could you be so stupid to have lost your purse over & over. There were just my keys and a small amount of money in it, but you ID, driver's license ect. Long story short I got a call from the police, they'd had my purse turned in, my mom wouldn't give my a ride to A.C. my friend took me. I got to the police station, the officer put my purse up against the glass and had a weird look on his face. Stated it was the 1st time ever that he'd had someone turn in a purse, not want any credit and everything was in the purse!!! That night my mom & husband went to A.C. to do abit of gambling and YUP!! she lost her purse and never got it back, loseing quite a sum of money. I felt really bad for her but stuff happens. I'll never know who turned my purse in, will never get to even say thank you but maybe with luck the person that turned my purse in can see this comment. "THANK YOU!!!"

Here it is 2020. How many TV shows on TV? And I sit here watching Carol Burnett on TH-cam. You can't get this on TV nowadays.
Carol nearly broke character when Don hit her shoulder :-)
We see it from the side, but I believe that slap caught her in the face, probably on her nose. It "smarted"!!
TV will never be this great again!!
Way better than most of SNL skits
Two of the funniest people to ever grace a television screen.

The best laugh I had in a long time. I wish we could have more clean comedy again.
