Nipsey was one of best! He'd be so calm and relaxed and always gave great clues, but when the contestant won he'd go nuts!!!
He was so focused in the moment. So when he was successful, and it was over, it was pure elation. I love watching him play the game. One of the best.
The late Nipsey Rusell, the late Nathan Cook, and Lavar Burton were the best celebrity contestants on the show because they indeed gave out the best clues in that winner circle. I have always loved this game show because it was one of my favorites. I didn't care for the new version.
The Real Nipsey Hustle
The late great Julius "Nipsey" Russell was indeed a true Pyramid player from the 70s and 80s.
I always loved how excited the celebrities got when they won. There is a lot of pressure doing this and they wanted to win as much the contestant. That's what made this the best game show ever.
Loved how Nipsy’s scream and leap out of his chair scared da S out of her 😂. One of my favorite winning reactions.
Nipsey Russell and Jamie Farr had the BEST SETS OF TEETH ever!!!! Just handsome, smart, cool calm and collected! I love Nipsey!!
Nipsey catapulting himself out of his seat is amazing. I can watch it a thousand times. He was one of the best game show celebrities (mainly here and Match Game, of course.) Love to you wherever you are, Nipsey!
Nipsey used to raise more hell than the people who won the money! I LOVE IT!
Back in 1973 I went through NYC with my folks when I was only 14 and we got to see 5 shows being filmed in one day starring Nipsey Russell and Anita Gillete. In fact they walked by me indivdually on the street and said "hi" before I even knew who they were or that they were on the show. It was a lot of fun. Dick Clark would talk to the audience during each break. The shows normally actually went to air about 1 month later.
"Things that exotic."
" *YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-!!* "
RuslanCodeLyoko The JOY he brought to that studio when he got to the top of the Pyramid... LOVE it!
PatrioticPirate Can you imagine if he gave away $100,000? He probably would've been doin' an even more victory lap or he would've gone crazy
Gotta Love Nipsey Russell, a classy guy and a TRUE Game Show Legend
God Bless Him and Mr. Clark
May they both R.I.P.
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
Mr. Nipsey Russell's 1:32 reaction is the second best reaction to that of Mary Cadorette's! RIP
Nipsey Russell was one of my all-time favorites. Loved his clues and how excited he got.
...And Mr. Dick Clark's Pyramid was/is one of the best game shows on TV!
Absolutely correct on that one. He gave people time to celebrate a win. Michael Strahan does not do that.
"Exotic" was a tough category, considering Nipsey had 13 seconds to communicate. Still, he was a fabulous celebrity player.
When Nipsey jumped up...YYYYYEAAAAH!!! 😂 I miss him 💔
Well, I jumped a mile. Scared the hell out of me. Am holding & watching on iPad. Nipsey was so excited & no wonder, how did she come up with exotic? To whomever is posting these winner circle moments-Thank you! So many of the celebs are gone like Dick Clark. He was the perfect host for this show & other shows he did. It took place during a nicer time in this country!
I always appreciate how the stars seem so genuinely happy for the contestants
Nipsey Russel was so calm then YAAAAAAAAA!!!
Lawd, have mercy! I used to LOVE it when Nipsey Russell won!
I love how Nipsey popped out of his chair when she won
Nipsey Russell was one of my favorites
Whoa!! Nipsy is real good at this game!!! Only 1 second to spare!!!
1 second left!! I don't think any contestant would have gotten any closer than that, on Dick Clark's or Donny Osmond's versions of the show.
I would have loved to hug Nipsey Russell! He was one of my favorites!
For things that balance, I would have said a checkbook
Yeah, good one, I didn't think about that
How about the scales of justice.
@@cats0182 Nipsey said that lol
upkept checkbook
A mathematical equation
Now THAT was close!!! Bravo, you two!
Nipsy Russell was the best.
Yes, Nipsy Russell WAS very calm!!😂😂😊😊
Love Nipsey! He was awesome.
Too bad he didn't give away the Grand Prize of $100,000
He probably would've been doin' an even more victory lap or he would've gone crazy
Gotta Love Nipsey Russell, a classy guy and a TRUE Game Show Legend
God Bless Mr. Clark and Mr. Russell also known as The World's Oldest Living Teenager and The Poet Laureate of Television
May they both R.I.P.
If Nipsey Russell were to have helped a contestant win $100,000, WOW, his reaction would be far more excited than when he helped this woman win $10,000. I wouldn't have doubted that at all.
Great clues!
Those were damn good clues!
The air date of this episode is September 4th, 1987. It was the final episode before the 8th $100,000 tournament. If I remember correctly it's the last week to feature 6 fee plugs at the end of the show. This is my second favorite week of the $100,000 pyramid behind the September 22nd-26th 1986 also with Nipsey Russell and Meg Bennett because of his excitement and the poems at the beginning of every show.
Julius "Nipsey" Russell (September 15, 1918 - October 2, 2005)
@tommy76tx Nipsey was always good at game shows, and I remember him being on Rhyme and Reason when I was a little boy, and Charlie Brill and his wife Mitzy McCall were on there also. Nipsey was so cool.
NIpsey was cool and calm and that woman was a great player!!
Things that balance: a checkbook, a ledger, an ice skater...
The modern day version of a game show buzzer beater.
what a nail-biter. Tropical islands are another good one fot "Exotic things".
WHOA!! (one second left)
Things that are Exotic has to be one of the most difficult categories ever. Should have been a 100K category.
things that are exotic is definitely a $100k category things that protrude actually was a $100k category
01:32 Nipsy got mad ups, yo
Exotic?? I'd have lost.
japanese islands was a great clue for that i would have said an emu a camel or the caribbean islands
Give me my ax - Things Joan Crawford would say
I didn't know that!!
@@catherinegabriel760 Mommie Dearest joke

0:38 "I sleep all night and I work all day."
Hey wow. A real picture.
The first category was in Sunday's "Pyramid." How that guy couldn't think of a bee right off is beyond me!
saw this, can't think of a clue that is right off the bat in the 2016 version of Pyramid.
So close :O
Glad Nipsey finished the Japanese with Islands. May have gotten buzzed out otherwise.
I'm surprised this woman won at all. Not b/c of the time, but b/c of the clues. I've watched this show for YEARS and this is the ONLY time EVER that I've seen a clue with descriptive PHRASE like "scales OF justice" not get zapped. Those kind of prepositional phrase ALWAYS gets buzzed as illegal. Apparently not. She was very lucky. TWICE! :)
yandrsupreme
It’s not that ‘of’ is the only allowable preposition, it wasn’t. Scales of Justice is a single entity like Statue of Liberty and Queen of England.
Another valid preposition’ would be ‘in’.
Dr. Seuss books: The Cat in the Hat would be allowed.
Also if the category was something someone says or does, then the use of a preposition would be allowed if it is something that person would say or do.
Things Donald Trump says: I’m President of the United States and live in the White House would be allowed even though it has two prepositional phrases because it is something he could say.
She did look like she got scared when Nipsey yelled out.
Did Nipsey appear on 1990's version/
Exotic things clues should include scantily clad dancers.
However if the subject was THINGS WITH BUTTONS, and the clue was the FRONT OF YOUR BLOUSE would be buzzer, Vicki's video shows that.
Dan Barker that would have been too descriptive. The difference is whether the phrase is actual thing.
Scales of Justice
Statue of Liberty
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Queen of England
The Cat in the Hat
Would all be allowed because they are single entities
Front of your blouse is not.because it’s describing the blouse
Things That Are Exotic: 12am Dancers, Jungles.
Seesaw, checkbooks for "balance"
He scared her half to death. Lol
Does anybody have the full episode of this day on the $100,000 pyramid?
barber215 there is a trader not sure of his name who has this episode
A great game show created by Bob Clayton.
Bob Clayton was one of the announcers. Others were Johnny Gilbert, Steve O'Brien, Charlie "O", John Causier; others I can't remember between the ABC and CBS versions. Bob Stewart was the creator and producer.
No buzzer for "the scales of justice"?
“Of” is the exception of the preposition phrase such as Capitol of New York
In "Things That Balance", wouldn't "scales of justice" be an illegal clue? Should it be "the justice's scales"?
+Frank Logan Yes, it should have been considered as illegal because "of" is a preposition.
+David C Thanks for clarifying that. Much appreciated!
+Frank Logan No. "Scales of justice" is an established phrase. If the category was "Judy Garlin Movies", "Wizard of Oz" isn't illegal just because it has a prepositional phrase. Prepositions were illegal based on how they were used.
I agree with Yandrsupreme. There were exceptions to not using prepositions.
Book, movie and royal titles are one. Queen of England is a prime example of an acceptable clue for famous Elizabeths. Wizard of Oz for Judy Garland movies also would be ok.
Scales of Justice is acceptable because it is one unit. Statue of Liberty for things in NYC would be acceptable for the same reason.
It’s a common misconception that no prepositional phrases could be used. Things on a farm: bundles of hay would also be ok.
Another exception would be clues describing what someone does or says. As long as it could be argued the person could say or do it, then the use of a prepositional phrase would be allowed.
Something your accountant may say: I’m going to send your tax return to the IRS.
“To the IRS” would be allowed because it is something an accountant might say.
Taking from another post, a mouse under my bed was correctly buzzed.
The preposition “of” was legal. The others generally are not if the category is “Things in/that…”. “What (blank) might say” has always been given leeway because it’s very possible the person/thing might actually say that (in regards to the thing, if they could actually talk of course).
A pretty girl. I like that outfit.
Man she was dense. “Log man???”
She kept repeating what Nipsey was saying...a no no for sure in responding. But she did win. Just barely.
