I feel like moving in the middle of the school year is easier because people will know that you're new and offer to hang out with you. Then there's me, moving right before the year starts

I'm gonna tell a super long story about this, actually.
So one the first day I had an assigned seat in my homeroom, so there was a girl on my right side who ended the row of seats we were apart of. I was focused on watching everyone else come back from the summer and find their friends and get super excited to talk to them. At first I felt lonely, while focusing on a pair of friends. I wanted to become friends with them. I wanted to have at least one friend. So I turn back to the girl beside me and smile to her. She seemed to be new, also. That day, we had to go to the cafeteria so they could explain what our team (Basically the specific side of the hall we were on) was going to be doing. When walking inside, the girl who sat beside me was kind of lingering around me and I lingered around her. We both looked for a seat, and I looked to her and asked her with a smile "Hey, um.. There's a seat over there. Wanna sit with me?" She nodded and seemed really happy I invited her over. We made a very small conversation about how loud it was in the school and I told her I was new, and she said she was too. We laughed it off awkwardly, then let ourselves take in everything going on. I thought about what would happen if her and I became friends. During the days we had to do challenges. when it came to lunch, I knew what I was gonna do. I walked up to her, and with a smile, asked her. "Hey, I don't know if you're sitting with someone, but if you aren't, do you wanna sit with me?"
Lunches later, I ended up finding out her Skype and we talked about common interests such as gaming, fooling around with friends, watching tv, ect. Liz, her name was, is now my best friend. She's been to my house, and I've been to hers. We had seats next to each other in homeroom (hence HAD, the teacher moved seats in the class so now we sit a bit apart, but it's alright), we have lockers above each others, we know each others schedules and wait for the other after class so we can walk together. She's a good friend to have, and she brings out the real me when she's around. I'm honestly super quiet around people I don't really know well, and I don't like to talk much. But when I'm with her, my best friend, she makes me feel like I can be myself around anyone and not be judged. I'm a loud, funny, crazy, person. I like to be that way. And she enjoys it when I'm like that, too. Although we don't have any of the same classes besides homeroom (Which doesn't count as a class), we always try to see each other during the day and in between our schedules. She's a supportive, shy, awkward, hilarious, person. I'm glad I met her, and I'm glad I asked if she wanted to sit with me that first day. I may have only known her since August, but she's a good friend. She's my best friend, and I plan to keep it that way for a long time.
Listen I'm moving and I've been threw all this crap 🙄 so here are some tips :
1.ask a girl/boy who seems really cool or chill/funny/nice or whatever at your class and tell them "hey! Can I sit with u at lunch? omg ! Btw those are so cute *point at shoes or something "
2.DONT ACT SHY! (It's hard I KNOW) but yea
3.act super nice! (Not to nice but nice)
4.Make sure u ask about 2 people if you can sit with them cause sometimes THAT ONE PERSON IS LIKE "omg so sorry all the seats are taken " so then you go with the other person

@@kiwikoffee6246 Sure. Stand staright up (You don't want to look timid or insecure even if you are.) If you have free dress try to wear jeans and something comfterable but nothing exotic. You don't want to push the principles buttons on the first day. Try to befriend someone who has been there longer than you have. They will get you around the school for the first week or two (especially in lunch) Lastly don't try to be funny or answer peoples questions. ( You still don't know who the class clown is and you don't want to fall for his traps. It will be embaressing.) I hope these tips can help you out bro. 👍

So I'm moving to a new school for my freshman year. I'm transferring to a huge public school where I don't know anyone. The thing is that it's multiple schools combining, so people who see me won't know that I'm new, they'll just assume I went to a different school. If everyone assumes that, everyone will assume I already have friends... What do I do?
Just talk to someone in your class that seems nice. this might sound silly but ask them a question (even if you already know) like do you know where this class is or that and then you'll start talking. It could also be important to ask what lunch they have.

I start a new school tomorrow. This would have been better for me if I had started on the actual first day of school but I didn't decide to transfer until a couple of weeks into the school year(I'm a sophomore in high school btw). I have a good advantage here because I'm transferring from the private school where my mom works to the public school where I live. The school I'm leaving is like an hour away and it sucks but this new school is 5 minutes away and I grew up in the town and know some kids. In fact my 3 best friends go to the new school. I'm kinda nervous but really excited

I was in the same school district starting from preschool to 6th grade, and I would most likely always be the one to greet the new kid if they were in my class, but now it's totally different. I'm going into 7th grade to a DoD (department of defense, a school on a military base) school in England. This video helped, thank you!

I literally moved every single year growing up. I got used to always knowing no one and feeling awkward. It messed me up socially. I have made sure my kids have got to stay at one school.
im 12 im not graduated yet but its making me nervous cause i don't even know if i am going to wear the uniform in first day,which seat im going to and i don't wanna be awkard to sit next to anybody my anxiety is attacking me.

im moving from a tinnnyyyyy town in New Mexico to the city of Tucson Arizona... going from a school with a total of about 500 kids, to a school with a total of about 2000 kids... as a sophomore. lord help me.

Im currently in the school bathroom during the lunch period because I have no one to sit by. This is the second day. I meet friendly people in class but none of which are “lunch” friends. They’re just nice people.
aw :( hopefully it gets better for u! i just transferred and had my first day and i barley talked to anyone since i didn't know anyone and i sat alone at lunch ☹️ it's so hard the first couple of days , when i was a freshman it took me a while to ask my classmates if i could sit with them for lunch and we ended up being great friends and they introduced me to other ppl. although at my new school it's way harder to make a friend i can tell it gets better!

We don't have cafeteria's in Australia, we just sit anywhere in the school except in out of bound areas like parking lots, near the school fence etc.
Same as mine, except my new school has a cafeteria and and outside area to sit in, but its at the front of the school! We can’t go to the oval or anything, and the library is small and shut off 😭

Here at school when the bell rings for lunch, we go anywhere in the school and can sit almost anywhere, like in classrooms. My friend group has a classroom all to ourselves, people sit in hallways and walk around or sit outside and eat

I’m about to be a junior in high school, and I’ve been to a private school since 6th grade and now I’m transferring to a public school and I’m nervous about all of the changes. At my old school, they didn’t mix grades in lunches and classes (unless it was a study hall) so it’s kind of terrifying that I’m going to be around so many different ages, plus my private school only had 500 kids, and my new school is going to have 1,000-2,000.

@@inake360So it actually went good at first! If you ride the bus, that’s a great place to start. Always try to make friends with people that live close. Or if you have homeroom, try there. The teachers are usually nice and will help you. Just try to get used to the school layout for the first day.

I'm moving to the US from the DR, I'm going to 9th grade and I'm moving in the middle of the year 😭😖I'm terrified, idk anything about American schools (my small amount of knowledge is from mean girls and stuff). How is the cafeteria thing? How is the walking to classes thing? How do you make friends?? I'm mostly introverted yet social when I have to be. I’m moving in a few weeks which is in the middle of the year.. it would be ok because I have a person in student council that’s supposed to help that was assigned to me. But all popular people get in student council. So they will later leave me and bully me so I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!!!!

in my current school everyone has like seats that they sit in it not assighned but its a widely known "rule" to not sit in someone's "spot" what if I sit in someone's spot and they hate me forever? :-:
